Chapter 1 - the curse of Aldersveil

My name is Elina Grey.

I have so many stories to tell stories no one ever wanted to listen to.

But maybe… you will.

My grandmother, Diana Grey, was a witch.

She had the power to see the future of humans, animals, birds, and even those souls who no longer existed in this world.

It's said that no one dared to look directly into her eyes,

because she could read not just your face… but your destiny too.

After her death, all her powers were passed down to me.

But I never told anyone about it.

Because her death itself was the biggest secret behind that power.

You might wonder

If she could see everyone's future, why couldn't she see her own death?

The truth is… she did.

But she couldn't tell anyone.

That was the rule.

Any witch who reveals someone's future… seals her own fate.

And my grandmother was forced to break that rule.

One night, someone came to her

no one knows who it was, but he wasn't human.

He demanded to know his future.

Grandmother refused.

But when he insisted, she finally said,

"The truth you seek will be the cause of your destruction."

No one knows what happened after that.

The next morning, she was found dead in her room.

And from that day on, every child born under a blood moon was called cursed.

Because since that night, once every hundred years,

a child born under the blood moon dies within hours.

It's said their cries are so haunting, even the wolves in the forest tremble.

After Grandma's death, I never looked into anyone's future again.

Because I knew the moment I did, my death would be written too.

But today… something strange happened.

The person I ran into she should have died,

but she's still alive.

Could it be that she somehow escaped it?

That curse?

Impossible… no one ever does.

If she survived, then…

it means Grandma's final prophecy is about to come true.

Aldersveil Town

"Jenna, wake up, dear… the sun's already high!"

Martha's voice echoed through the room deep, yet filled with warmth.

Jenna groaned, pulling her face out from under the pillow.

"Martha… just five more minutes, please."

"Five minutes?" Martha pulled open the curtains.

Cold morning air swept into the room.

"These five minutes will eat half your lecture, Miss Lawrence."

Jenna slowly sat up, squinting at the clock.

9:25 AM.

"Shit! My class was at nine!"

She jumped up nearly tripping as her feet hit the floor

then rushed to the washroom.

Martha couldn't hold back her laughter.

"I tell you every night use your phone less before bed!

But no, you have to check that Red Moon Club thing!"

"Martha, it's not a thing, it's a photography group!"

Jenna said, hurriedly tying her hair.

"They're going shooting near the forest today… I might join them later.

So I'll be home late, okay?"

Martha's face turned serious.

"The forest? That place isn't safe.

Last week something attacked a man there."

Jenna smiled. "Probably just a stray dog, not a monster.

And anyway, I won't be alone."

Martha walked closer, gently fixing Jenna's hair.

"Your father wouldn't like it."

Jenna's smile faded a little.

"Dad doesn't like anything unless there's a profit in it."

There was pain behind her words, but she tried to hide it.

Martha looked into her eyes

that familiar emptiness was still there, hiding behind every smile.

"You know he loves you… just in his own way."

Jenna picked up her bag.

"If that's love, maybe I was born in the wrong world."

"Don't leave without breakfast!" Martha called after her.

"Pack it for me, I'll eat on the way!" Jenna replied,

and the door closed behind her.

Silence filled the room again.

Martha stood by the window, whispering softly,

"God, please protect my girl…"

She said that every time Jenna stepped out.

The morning air was cool and crisp.

Clouds covered the sky, hinting at rain.

Jenna Lawrence, in blue jeans and a grey hoodie, walked toward college with her bag slung over her shoulder.

From the opposite side came Sara Banks, running as always, full of energy.

"Oh my god, Jenna! You're late again!"

"Not late," Jenna grinned, "the clock's just a little too fast."

"Your clock's fine. It's your brain that runs slow!" Sara teased.

Both burst out laughing.

The path was lined with trees, and the chilly wind danced through their hair.

"Did you finish your project?" Jenna asked.

"Did you?" Sara raised an eyebrow.

"No…"

"Then why are you even asking me, Miss Lawrence?"

Their laughter echoed down the road.

Just then, a guy appeared on the other side

Liam Ross black T-shirt, hands in pockets, that casual charm.

He smiled and called out,

"Late again? Guess Sara's bad habits are rubbing off on you."

"Hey! I was on time!" Sara protested.

"Yeah," Jenna laughed, "on time for free food, maybe!"

Their laughter was cut short

a car turned sharply at the corner, speeding toward them.

Jenna, lost in thought, started to cross the road.

She didn't see it coming.

"JENNA! STOP!" Liam shouted.

She turned just as the blinding headlights hit her eyes.

For a second, she froze.

Then a shadow leaped out of nowhere.

A man dark hair, light stubble, piercing Blue eyes that glowed with secrets.

He grabbed her arm and pulled her aside, both falling hard on the ground.

The car sped past with a loud honk.

Jenna lay there, trembling, realizing she was still alive.

Strong arms had shielded her from the fall.

She looked up

a man, maybe 28 or 29, tall, broad shoulders, sharp features.black shirt and silver-grey coat.

His wet dark hair swayed in the wind,

and his Blue eyes looked… otherworldly.

"You… saved me?" she whispered.

He nodded slightly.

"If I had been a second late… you wouldn't be here," he said quietly.

A few steps away stood his sister

Sera Blackthorn, blonde, calm, cold eyes fixed on them.

Sara and Liam rushed over.

"Jenna! Are you okay? God, that was scary!"

"Yeah… I think so," Jenna said, still dazed, still staring at the man who saved her.

Liam frowned. "These drivers are maniacs!

And you you never look before crossing!"

"I did look…" Jenna murmured, "I was just… distracted."

The man stood up, brushed off his jacket, and turned to leave.

His sister said softly, "Riven, come on… we're getting late."

Sara watched them go.

"Who were they? I've never seen them before."

Jenna whispered, "Neither have I…"

Sara giggled, "Well, that guy was hot! The way he held you I swear, I got butterflies just watching!"

Jenna rolled her eyes and kept walking.

They soon reached college.

Lawrence academy

The college hall was unusually lively that day.

Whispers, laughter, excitement and all eyes fixed on the door.

Jenna and Sara sat down, whispering to each other.

"Did you hear?" Sara said, eyes sparkling.

"New music professor joining today."

"Yeah," Jenna replied, distracted. "He's from some international music academy, right?"

"Oh my god," Sara said, "I just hope he's as good-looking as he is talented!"

"You say that about every teacher."

"Just wait ... today, no one's studying. It's staring competition day!"

Just then, the door opened.

The room fell silent.

Principal Hall entered with two people a man and a woman.

The man was tall, broad-shouldered, in a black shirt and silver-grey coat.

Dark hair slightly messy, eyes deep blue like the ocean at night.

His face was calm, expressionless.

Principal Hall began,

"Students, today we welcome a new member to our Music Department Mr. Riven Blackthorn. He will be teaching Music Theory and Instrumental Practice.

And his sister, Sera Blackthorn, will be joining as a student in this class."

All the girls were instantly spellbound.

Notebooks dropped, pens fumbled but Riven didn't even notice.

His gaze moved across the room… and stopped. Right at Jenna Lawrence.

Time froze.

Her heartbeat quickened ,it was him.

The man who'd saved her life.

Sara whispered, "Jenna… that's him, isn't it?"

Jenna softly, "Yes… it's him."

Riven gave a small nod and said,

"Thank you, everyone. I hope you love music… as much as I do."

His voice was deep and smooth,

each word like a note echoing in the air.

The entire class seemed to fall under his spell.

One girl whispered,

"He's even hotter when he talks… that voice, ufff…"

Jenna opened her notebook,

but her hands were trembling.

Every time she looked up, her eyes found his

and his, hers.

When the class ended, Sara said,

"Let's grab coffee!"

"You go ahead," Jenna replied, "I'll come later."

Everyone left.

Riven was gathering his papers.

As Jenna reached the door, a deep voice stopped her.

"You should be careful, Miss Lawrence.

Yesterday could've ended… very differently."

She turned.

He was standing right behind her, so close she could feel his breath. Her heartbeat raced again.

"Thank you," she whispered,

"for saving my life."

"You don't need to thank me," he said softly.

"Some things… are meant to be saved."

His voice was low, but every word sank deep into her heart.

Jenna lowered her eyes, feeling her pulse quicken.

When she looked up again, he was gone and she just stood there, staring after him
