This is not my first or second time trying to escape. This time however is different because my life depends on it. The heavy rain is not stopping my pursuers and neither is it stopping me from getting to the edge of the barrier out of this forsaken place forever. I could see and hear the voices of humans and I had hope that I am almost to my destination 'Almost there Elena' I said to myself 'We can do this' my wolf said Just a few more steps, almost crying with triumph when I felt the weight of a person like a heavy truck hit me and I landed on my back with this person on me. 'Let me go! You b*st*rd' I screeched louder than the heavy drops of the rain 'In your dreams sweetheart' I know that voice 'Mark you b*st*rd! You should let me escape and leave the faction isn't that what you have always wanted' I said 'Seems you are confused, that's my sister darling. I love watching your pain and agony so why should I let you go. Besides I told you, you will be mine' he said. 'That's not possible I will never be yours. Haven't you heard, I am being sent to replace your sister in the coming trial' 'Like I will let that happen' 'What do you mean?' I asked He picked me up like a sack of potato, placing me on his shoulders. I kept on hitting his back and anywhere I could see so that he could let me go, but the b*st*rd laughed like it amused him 'I have got her, Let's go' he barked at his father's enforcers We got to the clearing of the Creed faction and Mark dropped me at the feet of Beta Ethan Creed and his sinister daughter Monica 'Where do you think you are going pup' Beta Ethan said I looked up at him defiantly looking into his eyes and not responding. The next thing I saw was his hands heavily landing on my face and making me deaf in my right ear for a few second. I almost shifted into my wolf form, I had to assure her that I am fine and not to do anything drastic. 'Know your place mutt, you disgust me. I promise you that girl who defies my words and calls you your friend will be heavily dealt with tonight for aiding your escape again. How many times must I remind you that you are my property and you go nowhere.' He said I bowed to him in deep respect to hide my wolf changed eyes and to not incur his anger on Amilia my only friend in this horrible nightmare of a place. 'Please I forced her to let me escape, it wasn't her fault at all. I promise never again to escape, I will do your bidding Beta Ethan, anything you want' I said 'You will still learn your lesson' He said 'Dad, let's pardon her today she needs to look pristine and clean with no marks on her as she will soon be facing the trials where she will obviously not last the first test' a sickenly sweet voice said I really detest that girl she most of all has made my life very miserable here 'Monica shut up' Mark said, 'She is not going anywhere' The twins disgust me. Total opposites in every way but one, the color of their hair. It's enough to make one question whether they are truly siblings, let alone twins Monica is tall and slim, her oval face framed by blonde hair, her grey eyes cool and unreadable. Her brother, in stark contrast, is short and heavily built, his biceps straining against fabric that looks ready to tear. His square jaw and brown eyes mirror their father's features, and his mouth seems carved into a permanent sneer The faction whispers that Monica takes after her mother, though I can't say for certain. Rumor has it the woman fled while the twins were still children, driven away by the Beta's cruelty 'Mark are you defying my rule!' Beta Ethan roared. 'Of course not sir, I believe she will be a waste there. Is it not better for her to serve our whims right here, she is very useful here Beta' 'Useful for who, one day your obsession will end you. There are a lot of pretty girls here falling at your feet and you can have a pick of any of them. This mutt is a waste of your time' 'But… 'Enough of that, you being my son is what is stopping me from tearing you into pieces right here and now for your defiance. Enforcers, take this thing back to her cage. Next time she tries this it will be one of your heads on a platter' Monica steps towards me and whispered in my ear sweetly, 'I guess my dream is about to come true, me watching you die oh so painfully in a month's time' I met her eyes, showed her my wolf and let her know exactly what I think of her while being dragged to my hell hole. F*ck*ng assholes. After being dragged into my cage, I was exhausted from trying to escape. I allowed my screaming muscles to rest and slept off immediately. A few minutes with my eyes closed, I was inside a ruined temple with fallen walls, shattered jars, curtains torn to ribbons. In the center lay a still pond that drew me like a magnet. I walked to its edge and stared at my reflection. Slowly the image changed until another woman looked back: her hair as black as a shadow, eyes the color of the four elements. She held me with a look that was half-question, half-command. I was about to ask who she was when she yanked me into the pond. I couldn't breathe. She dragged me under; I thrashed, useless against whatever pull she had. My name echoed, rising and rising, until I snapped awake so suddenly I forgot where I was and slammed my head against the iron bars of my cage. 'Elena are you okay? I called your name multiple times and you didn't answer' Squinting my eyes at my visitor I saw my friend watching me carefully 'I am fine Amilia,' I said rubbing my aching head. 'Just a bad dream. What are you doing here? You are not meant to be seen with me after today's incident.' I said 'Like that will stop me. What happened to your face?' she asked 'Amilia I am serious you need to leave; I can't stand it if you are punished. You almost came this close to being punished for my sake.' 'Did someone hit you?' 'Are you listening to me at all?' 'Elena I will be fine, you on the other hand are not, move closer let me help with that, did the banshee do this?' 'Nah her father did' 'So sorry you are going through this Elena, I wish there was something more I could do. Before you are sent to the trials I will look for a way out for you so that you don't go' 'Amilia I think for the first time, I have accepted my fate and can't wait to meet my mom and dad when I die in the trials' 'Don't you dare say that. Enough of your self pity, you are not dying. Let me heal your face' She said. Her warm, healing touch eased the pain along my jaw and, almost, my heart. Her Signa, the mark every female-born werewolf receives from her moon goddess at age thirteen ran from her wrist to fingertips and flared a bluish light as she worked. Amilia's were markings that looked like sea tides, waves of ink with full moons and half-moons woven through it. It was beautiful to look at. Hers was unmistakable the mark of the moon goddess of water. The moon goddesses are elementals: one rules water, another earth, another air, another fire. Each female is chosen. I am the exception. I suppose I am not worthy. It's another reason they hate me, another proof they call me weak, an abomination no female here has ever gone unchosen 'That feels so good. Thank you' 'Anything for you Elena' She said 'I brought some food for you, your favorite' 'Apple pie, you do know me. Did I tell you I love you' 'You just did, I have got to go will see you soon' she said 'Thank you see you soon' The apple pie became my breakfast and dinner, and I enjoyed it immensely.
