Chapter 5 - Chapter 5

I was taken to the trials in the faction's car with five enforcers behind me. Beta Ethan saying they were for my protection is a facade, they were really meant to ensure that I don't escape. He reminded me of what exactly will happen to Amilia if I try to escape and if I reveal the truth. Amilia, my beautiful friend whom I said my goodbyes to before entering the car. I would miss her deeply. The only one I will miss in that faction. Leaving has left a bittersweet taste in my mouth. I am glad I am leaving a place that treated me like trash, but I also know I am leaving for a place more dangerous with no one supporting me. About three hours of leaving the faction, we arrived at the destination. A foreboding feeling enveloped me as one of the enforcers opened the car door, I froze for a minute not getting out. The enforcer looked in with a question on his face. I took a deep breath, called to my wolf for strength and got out of the car with every courage I could muster. The first thing I noticed was the gate that led to a building that looked like a mini palace. The gate was humongous, painted black with iron casted wolves placed on the spikes on top of the gate. In front of it stood two huge male werewolves with radio comms in their hands communicating to the people or person behind the gate to let the person they have attended to in. I could see a line of female she-werewolves with enforcers, and the representatives of their Betas. Mark is Beta Ethan's representative; I was told he couldn't follow me as he was attending to an urgent matter. I was very glad when I heard that. He will be joining me when the trial starts. I was ushered to the gate, gave my faction name and my name to the huge men. The gate opened up for me and I was directed to a small building beside the mini palace while the enforcers that followed me were directed to another building where I noticed most enforcers were being led to, the Beta representatives however went straight into the mini palace. On entering the building I was directed to, I saw a lady dressed in white sitting at the front desk. She checked my signa, wrote something on the computer, gave me a tag and directions to my room. I looked at the number on the tag and went straight to the room assigned to me. I was the last lady to get to the room. Everyone looked up when I entered, sized me up then went back to what they were doing. 'Hi' I said, but none of them replied me. Okay I thought, I guess there will be no friendly face here. The room was big enough and everyone was assigned to a single bed. A single bed was left empty and I noticed that it was the bed closest to the bath and toilet. I guessed that's why nobody took it. I should have arrived earlier. I settled down on my bed, looked around me and took note of some of the she-werewolves. The she-werewolf occupying the bed in front of mine had shocking red hair and was in a fighting stance I had never seen before. She had lean muscles, a tall figure and sharp features. I hope I don't go against her, I thought. The training I received at the faction was limited and the trainer just gave me basic training. I started unpacking my bags when I heard a voice behind my back 'Hi' I turned and saw a girl laying on her back on the bed, a book on her chest and looking directly at me. 'Hi' I said 'My name is Amara, I am from the Thompson faction, nice to meet you' 'Nice to meet you too, I am from the Creed faction' I replied 'Don't be intimidated by her, she is a soft ball. She is a great fighter though and an ally you should have in the trial' I looked at her and wondered who she meant, she saw the look on my face and explained 'I saw you looking at the red head over there' 'oh…yeah' 'Don't piss her off though she might kill you in your sleep' I looked at her shocked 'I heard that Amara. Hi, I am Rein' the girl with the red hair said while taking a seat beside Amara, 'I don't plan on killing anyone in their sleep.' 'Thank God' I muttered softly. They both burst out laughing at my expense after hearing that, woe to supernatural hearing. 'Well I am glad you won't be killing me in my sleep' I said sarcastically. 'I am going to like you aren't I?' Rein said. 'I am from the Bruce faction, the Thompson faction and Bruce faction are separated by an expanse of wild forest and our Beta's are friends. Amara and I met in one of the faction meetings and became friends. In case you are wondering' I was wondering. 'We can help each other in the trial, we can be stronger together I believe' Amara said 'You've been marked by the air moon goddess? That's cool for attack. Rein and I are both earth and Rein's wolf is fearsome.' 'Yeah. My wolf can fight okay, though I won't say fearsome.' I said with a gulp. Rein watched my reaction and I tried to cover it with a smile. We were interrupted by a voice being projected into the room by a small speaker fixed on the far right corner of the wall. 'All candidates will be meeting the Alpha King in the next one hour. You are to dress in appropriate gowns and be at the front of the Alpha King's building in the next 30 minutes where you will be directed to the hall.' 'Uhnnn I hate gowns, but no choice here. My mum bought two for me and packed them herself. She said I would need it. Well mum I guess you were right again' Rein said. I laughed at her amused, she is lucky she has a mum. I noticed that the other two ladies were already getting ready. 'I guess we should get ready as well' I suggested. Rein went to her side of the room and started sorting through her cloth. Amara started doing the same thing. I went through my cloth and sorted through the clothes that was gotten for me in my last week at the faction and found a beautiful aqua backless long gown that would complement my eyes quite well. I wore a silver shoe, let my black hair down. I asked Amara if I could use her mirror to check myself. She agreed. I was satisfied with what I saw, I looked okay. 'You need something around your neck to complement that cloth, here use this pearl necklace' She said handing the necklace to me 'Oh I couldn't possibly….' 'I insist'. Seeing that she was adamant, I took the beautiful silver pearl beaded necklace from her. 'Yes that's perfect' she said. While Amara opted for a beautiful ash off shoulder short gown and silver heels, her friend Rein went all black, in a strapless black gown with a front sl*t that reached her thighs and black shoes. They both did each other's make-up and insisted on doing mine as well. Once done, we all went to the to where we were directed and waited to be ushered into the mini palace. The doors to the floors and the carpets as well as the curtains screamed wealth and opulence. We entered the hall as per instructions. The hall looked beautiful with hanging chandeliers and flowers used to decorate every corner of the hall as well as the tables. Amara, Rein and I decided to take one of the tables close to the left side of the podium and closer to the entrance of the hall. The hall was filled with almost twenty she-werewolves in different colors looking absolutely stunning, and our enforcers were seated at the end of the hall ready to spring into action. The hall became quite loud with voices. 'I hear he is quite handsome, my gosh I can't wait to see him' A she-wolf occupying the table beside us squealed. I guess almost everyone is intrigued by him. Rein looked at me and rolled her eyes. I smiled her reaction. I am going to love her. A hush fell on the crowd when a man entered with an entourage and Beta representatives. The Alpha King is always followed by his Alphas who serve as his enforcers and a few council members. We all stood up to welcome him into the hall. Alpha king Drake looks very imposing from afar and although I don't want to admit it, his chiseled jaws, tall build, tight muscles, and green eyes make him look quite handsome. Clad in a white T-shirt with the top buttons opened and black fitted trousers made him look majestic. My wolf stood at attention when she took note of him, I wondered at her strange reaction. When he was about to sit down, he looked directly at me and held my eyes for a moment, it almost felt as if I was frozen by his looks. He released a snarl and broke the connection. I felt like I could breath again. What was that? I thought. My wolf became more alive, she hasn't been since the use of wolfsbane. She feels closer to my skin. My thoughts were interrupted when one of the council members , a female she-werewolf who looks like she is in her mid fifties, although I am sure she is older than that, climbed the podium to address us. 'It is with great honour that we welcome you to the trials. This tradition has gone on for years, and with it, the most powerful Luna queens have emerged ruling beside our Alpha Kings. One of you will be the next Luna queen to rule beside Alpha King Drake. Not only that, it has always been, that the four best fighters who don't win the seat will be the next Lunas who protects the Luna queen. Also note that every fight will be in the arena. None of you are to fight each other in your rooms, if any one is caught fighting they will be disqualified immediately. May the best she-werewolf win. I invite Alpha King Drake to speak' The applause when he climbed the podium was deafening. He raised his hands and the applause died down almost immediately, you could hear a pin drop. 'Council elder Jane has said it all, ensure you follow the rules and be rest assured that you are safe here as there are enforcers all over this property. I am sure most of you have heard about the missing werewolves. I will make sure to get to the bottom of this and find those responsible. Tonight we feast. I wish you all the best luck. I will try as much as possible to meet with most of you. May the best she-werewolf win.' he addressed. Neither of them spoke about the fact that some of us might die in these trials. I guess that might sour the mood. We all stood up to give him another applause. The music began when he left the podium, drinks were served and plates of food as well. Werewolves do have huge appetites, but it almost feels as if they were giving us our last meal before dying. My new roommates noticed my sour mood and tried to cheer me up with more wine. I am so going to get drunk tonight. We took note of the commotion at the middle of the hall. ' What's going on?' Amara asked absently. I saw the Alpha King and I knew what was going on. He did mention it earlier. 'The Alpha King is speaking with some ladies over there. I guess he is checking his products' I said sarcastically. Rein almost choked on her drinks 'Elena… we are not products!' Amara looked at me aghast. 'Ignore me I am drunk and can say anything at this point ' I said bashely. 'He is coming over here' Rein said. Oh no not here, anywhere but this table.
