Inside a huge spacious and empty throne room with intricate and beautiful designs a boy in his mid to late teens sat on the throne with a gloomy expression as he played with a white feather in his hand.
He was the only one inside the throne room which was nothing surprising considering that his kingdom was recently formed
That's right.
You see in this world people are born with something called the God troop system. This system allows for mere humans to become gods by creating and raising their troops which was randomly selected when their abilities activated for the first time at the age of fifteen.
Moreover the higher the rank of their master/creator the more potential the soldiers have to break through their ranks.
The ranks of soldiers consisted of F, E, D, C, B, A, S, SS and SSS.
Although soldiers gained the potential to break through their ranks such a thing was incredibly difficult as a soldiers' rank was almost fixed.
The higher the rank of a soldier the more chances the master has of becoming a god.
Just like soldiers their master also needed to level up. So twenty percent of the soldiers experience is given to their master.
Unfortunately anyone with an F, E, or D rank troops would never have the qualifications to become a god. They were destined to remain ordinary for the rest of their lives.
This was why Midas was anxiously staring at the white feather in his hand. While others system gave them power troops like dragons, demons, heavenly soldiers, all he had was this feather in his hand.
And the worst part was that he could even see the rank of the feather. All he could see was the description and all he got was….
"Pure white feather, has the potential to become something more powerful."
What the fuck was that?! If it wasn't for the fact that it was bonded to him he would have thrown it away.
Honestly when he had first gotten the feather during the awakening ceremony he already knew that his life was over. While others were getting useful and powerful troops, all he had gotten was this white feather. As an orphan he thought that he could change his life around if he awakened a powerful troops but alas reality is a bummer.
Now all that kept him going was the hope that this feather would turn out to be something good just like the description said. Hopefully it doesn't become a bird or anything of the sort.
After staring at the feather for another few seconds he put it away in his inventory and decided to take a walk around his desolate kingdom.
When his system activated he had been teleported to this kingdom and assigned the ruler, he assumed that it was the same for everyone else according to what he was told and read from old books.
It has been a week since he appeared here, by now he had already walked every nook and crook of this kingdom and each time he hurts him to think of just how empty and abandoned this kingdom was. Some ruler he was. He didn't even have a single subject.
He walked into a large room and in the middle of the room was a large object shrouded in dark mists. That was his troop recruitment pool, he doesn't even know what it looks like underneath all those mist.
At one point he had tried to touch the recruitment pool only to be forcefully thrown backwards. Since then he has learned his lesson.
He only came by here once in a while to check if the dark mist shrouding the recruitment pool had been uplifted before moving on his way.
He dared not approach it again, only admire it from a distance.
After nearly half a day of walking around his kingdom in hopes of finding something of someone his journey finally led him to the main gates of his kingdom.
Midas looked beyond the giant gate of his kingdom and he couldn't help but wonder what it was like out there. He didn't even know which planet he was on either. Maybe the other lords were on this planet too or he was alone, he wasn't sure. The manifestation of one's kingdom was random.
These were the thoughts that had been bothering him since the first time he saw the giant gate.
He had never managed to gather the nerve to step outside but maybe now was the time. Also his food supply was running low, it was only a matter of time before he started starving.
With a simple command from his mind the giant gates opened and Midas for the first time since appearing in this unknown place.
However what he wasn't expecting was the list Greenland in front of him. Some distance away from him was a huge forest. The scenery was completely different from what he expected it to be like.
He visibly relaxed as his worst fear didn't come true, Midas slowly made his way towards the forest as he enjoyed the scenery.
"iI must have been paranoid earlier, this place doesn't look so dangerous"
It didn't take him long to make his way into the forest. He quickly spotted some wild berries and fruits and hurried to pick them up. However , of he hadn't been so quick to fill his mouth he would have noticed that the inside of the forest unlike the outside was dark and eerie.
Rooooar
A monstrous roar came from behind Midas causing him to stiffen up. His heart skipped a beat and with arms full of wild berries he slowly turned around to see a black demonic looking bear glaring viciously at him.
He looked at the level of the bear and felt a shiver down his spine.
Midas spilled the berries in his arms as his heart skipped a beat. Only one thought came to his mind at that very moment.
Run!
Midas didn't hesitate as he immediately turned tail and ran. He could hear the bear chasing after him from behind but he didn't stop, he hastily ran through the dark forest like a mad man.
I don't want to die I! don't want to die!!
Miss shouted in his head like some kind of martyr, his heart felt heavy and his breathing labored. Fear threatened to take over him but he didn't stop.
However, there was so little a level 1 could do against a level 10 and speed was not one of them.
The bear closed the distance between them in the blink of an eyes and raised it claw to strike.
The claw slashed into Midas retreating back sending him flying into a nearby tree with a bloody wound on his back.
"No. I don't want to die yet" Midas turned blurry as he sat up against the tree trunk. He tried his best to get up but he couldn't feel his legs.
He stared with a blurry vision at the bear menacingly approaching him.
"Somebody…anybody….s…save…m…me" Midas didn't released it then because he had passed out but after he reached out for help a blinding flash of light exploded out from his body.
The last words he heard before he passed out were.
"Congratulations, your troop system has successfully been unlocked"
He didn't know if he was hallucinating or not but he thought he saw someone appear in front of him just before everything went black.
