End of classes, sun illuminating the streets below and the students, no older than 13-14 years old, were leaving the room with defeated expressions and almost lifeless faces.
But a specific group, which stood out a lot because of their reputation and the confusion they caused, was talking deeper.
"I didn't find the test so difficult. Like, it was basically just the subject about the great catastrophes and the emergence of abilities and etc." Steven, Steve for the most intimate, shrugged ignoring his friend's tantrums.
Steven was a relatively tall boy, 5 '9 tall, even though he was only 13 years old. He had black eyes, hair of the same color and the face of someone who was falsely accused of stealing 20 dollars from the suitcase of the elderly lady who lives downstairs when she went to buy vegetables at the local market.

Skylar was a girl with brown hair and green eyes. Looking at her more superficially, you would classify her as a spoiled girl who doesn't like it when something doesn't go as she wanted. And that wouldn't be a lie, because her whole personality boils down almost to just that.
But she can also be very nice sometimes, so let's forgive her flaws. And just like the others, she was 13 years old.

Tarah was a girl with long hair and flashy purple eyes, in addition to being one of the tallest girls in her class, being 5 '7 tall. But she was also known for her more introverted personality and her habit of almost never trying to talk to anyone outside her circle.
Which basically consisted of Steven, Benny, Skylar and, last but perhaps not least, Tommy.

"It's Tommy. You know he's the best in school academically speaking " Steven said with a sigh " A surprise test is the same as nothing for him "

"He's not my boyfriend" Tarah rolled her eyes.
"Are you talking about Tom boy? "
"WHAT THE HELL! " Skylar screamed in fright when she heard a new voice that was dangerously close to her.

Right behind Steven and Skylar, was Luke, one of their colleagues.
Luke was the one who naturally drew attention because of his appearance and personality. With emerald green hair and eyes and tanned skin, he easily became the center of attention from wherever he was. In addition to a reputation and a fame that pursues him wherever he goes.
"What the hell do you want Luke? "The irritation in Skylar's voice was almost palpable. She didn't like Luke, and that was obvious.
"Eh, why the aggressiveness? I heard you talking about Tom boy and decided to get closer to hear better " Luke shrugged and let out an ironic sigh " Besides, I have important information that I'm willing to share with you "

What was once a simple smile, turned into a long smile full of teeth, something that should be humanly impossible. His green eyes shone more intensely and he stretched out both arms to both sides, apparently only for dramatic effect.
"A guardian was found dead this morning," Luke said, still keeping his smile from before.
After that simple sentence, there was a moment of silence while the group processed that. After almost 2 whole minutes, they finally reacted.
And Skylar was the first to react.
"You're lying, it can only be that! How is it possible that a guardian was found dead!? "What used to be irritation in Skylar's voice was replaced by doubt and surprise.
"Bah, you're definitely lying! "Benny wasn't believing it either.
Luke, however, did not change his posture. His smile stayed and his eyes gained a different glow, as if he were a nobleman looking at a bunch of dirty commoners.
You could see that he was having fun with that. Now if that was because someone had died or if he was just enjoying seeing the reaction of his colleagues, only he knew.
"I'm serious. My father works in damage control and he told me that a guardian was found dead this morning in a more isolated area of the city. After the analysis they did on the body, it was deduced that he was killed during the night. And if he was killed during the night, it means... "
"That he was killed by a nocturnal creature," Steven added.
"And if he was killed by a nocturnal creature, it means that..."
"There's a creature in the city," Tarah added.
"B-B-B-BINGO! I knew you were smart! " Luke said and his posture changed completely. Now, he had returned to his normal self.
" Anyway, I advise you to go home early and not walk alone during the night, or who knows, you may end up being the next victims. Hehehe! "
