Chapter 2 - Tommy

Eyes of the Darkness.

A dark fantasy RPG game released recently, almost 7 months ago, which was being highly praised for its narrative and dark atmosphere and its very interesting story.

I could spend hours describing every detail of the game and why it became so popular, but that would be irrelevant now. I was already at the end.

The true End.

To finish the game at 100%, in addition to completing all the quests and secret missions, you need to defeat the secret boss: The flower of the end.

Items needed for the fight:

Dark mantle (to reduce the damage of dark attacks and gain immunity to curses)

Sword of eternal light (to cause more damage to dark beings and cursed beings)

99 high-level healing potions (completely optional, but very useful)

And free time and enormous patience.

The fight against the flower has 3 phases: Petals of the end, roots of darkness and blossoming of evil.

The first phase lasts 5 minutes and 23 seconds, with a total of 11,235 points of damage inflicted on the flower.

The second phase lasts 3 minutes and 43 seconds, with 13,458 points of damage inflicted.

And the third phase lasts 6 minutes and 14 seconds, with a total of 30,240 points of damage inflicted. And so, I defeat the flower, stoppo the advance of darkness in the mortal world (at least in this era) and lived a quiet life with my wife and daughter.

And so, I finished the game.

" Ahh..." A long sigh was heard inside a small room full of brooms and other cleaning products.

In one of the corners of this small room, squeezed and crouched in a corner, was a boy holding a state-of-the-art portable console.

The boy in question was not very different from the others in that school. A simple 13-year-old boy addicted to games and struggling to stay in crowded spaces for a long time.

Same reason why he was hiding in the janitor's room, but that wasn't important now.

As for the appearance, this was perhaps the boy's biggest highlight. He had bright blond hair, almost golden, which seemed to reflect the dim light of the room where he was. Bright green eyes, slightly larger than normal, making them very expressive. And also his skin that had a pastel shade of white.

In addition, he also wore glasses, large and round glasses that seemed to give more prominence to his eyes, green earrings and a silver ring on the index finger of his left hand. It wasn't exactly the most flashy set of accessories, but still, they were accessories.

Next to him, a simple red backpack heavier than the others, probably because of all the notebooks and books he carried around.

The boy let out another sigh before finally getting up and stretching his body. As for what he was wearing, he wore a simple black shirt, a red jacket, dark blue pants and also red shoes.

The boy took one last look at the final credits that were playing on the console screen before sighing once again and putting it in his backpack.

"I spent too much time with this game and now that I'm finally done, I have nothing else to do" The boy muttered to himself with a sigh "Should I ask dad to buy me a new game? "

Before he could use the doorhandle to open the door, it was abruptly opened and behind it, there were 4 figures that the blonde knew very well.

"Oh, are you done? " The blonde asked, completely ignoring their expressions of surprise.

"I knew you were here! You all owe me 20 dollars! "

"I don't remember agreeing to that" Tarah just ignored Benny's comment.

"Man, you need to stop hiding in places like this. What if you get sick or something like that? " Steven said worried.

"One more reason to not come to school and one more day for me to stay at home playing all my games" The blonde replied shrugging his shoulders.

"Anyway, are you already going home Tommy? "

"No" The blonde replied.

This same blond boy was Tommy, the last member of thid fantastic quintet, and also one of the most popular boys in school.

Tommy, or rather, Thomas Bernard Grimm, was one of the best and most intelligent students in the school, academically speaking. From kindergarten until today when he barely started middle school, he never had a single bad grade, besides always standing out a lot in almost all the activities he did.

He was also the teachers' favorite, and obviously well known, especially among girls because of his appearance.

"Why? " Skylar asked.

Tommy just sighed and took out of the backpack an old, big and heavy book, which he gently put in Skylar's hands "literature club"

Skylar, and the others, looked at each other, at Tommy and then finally read the title of the book.

"Time and space in my hands"

" By Cristino Souza "

"This isn't ..."

"The autobiography written by the first human with a rank S+ ability, almost 300 years ago? Yes " Tommy answered before Benny could finish the question " We will discuss about the book today, so I'll leave a little late "

" Are you sure? " Tarah asked clearly worried.

Tommy looked at her in a strange way, before looking at the others and seeing that they had the same worried expressions as Tarah.

" Okayyyyy... who is going to die and when will be the funeral be? "The naturalness with which those words came out of Tommy's mouth was scary.

The other 4 were silent, trying to process what they had just heard while Tommy kept looking at them as if they were the strangers in the situation.

"What? "The 4 asked in unison.

"I'll reformulate... why are you looking at me as if I am going to die? "

"Well... how can I explain this..."

"There's a nocturnal creature in the city," Skylar said.

"And most likely you will die if you walk alone at night," Benny completed.

"What? "This time, Tommy was the one who was confused" Who told you that? "

" Luke" Tarah replied.

" Luke? "You could feel the distrust in Tommy's voice from miles away" And you believed him? "

"He seemed very serious when he told us that" Steven just shrugged.

"He told us that a guardian was found dead this morning, and after analyzing the body, they deduced that he was killed during the night. So, a nocturnal creature " Tarah explained in the simplest way possible.

"Um..." Tommy muttered to himself while thinking.

"Um..." He closed and tilted his head slightly to the right.

" Um..." Then to the left.

" Hummmm..." And then he raised his whole head up, feeling the brightness of the corridor lights on his face.

"Ah! "You could almost see a lamp lighting up on top of his head "Well, it may have been another ability user who killed the guardian, right? "

"What? "

"Now that I stopped, I saw that it could have been an ability user who killed the guardian. It is not uncommon to see unregistered ability users causing problems around for no reason. Wouldn't be strange that one of them had caught the guardian distracted and struck a fatal blow "

"Besides, just because he was killed during the night, it doesn't automatically mean that it was a nocturnal creature that did it. It may very well have been a normsl creature that saw the guardian approaching and decided to have a night snack before bed "

"And I doubt Luke was telling the truth. Almost everything that guy says are lies "

...

Honestly, those were some pretty good points.

"Still, it's better to be safe than sorry," Steven said after leaving his surprised state.

"As you wish. I'm going to the club. Bye " Tommy just waved before turning the corridor and disappearing from the group's vision.

"We say there's a creature in the city, and he literally says 'I only believe it when I see it'" Skylar murmured.

"Well, it's Tommy" Steven just shrugged once again "Let's go home "

"Bah" Benny just agreed while he and Skylar began to follow Steven.

Tarah, on the other hand, just stood still looking at where Tommy had gone, before finally starting to follow the others and go home.
