Chapter 1 - Evan of Konoha, Pakura of the Hidden Chamber

"Please hand your brain over to the zombie."

"Happiness is all that matters."

"Protagonist's hobbies: the spirit of Jian'an, the martial elegance of Cao Cao."

"Heroine: even mosquitoes cover their behinds when they see her."

— Main story begins —

Konoha Village.

The deepest level of the shinobi prison.

Drip… drip… drip…

Moisture seeped from the underground stonework, gathering into cold droplets that fell rhythmically to the floor.

In the dim chamber, several incandescent lamps glowed softly along the walls, casting warm yellow light across the otherwise chilling darkness.

Surprisingly, the room was spacious, almost comfortable.

Furnished. Maintained. Lived-in.

And at its center stood a large steel-forged bed — simple in design, heavy, solid, meant to withstand anything. Thick curtains hung around it, isolating the interior completely.

A faint aroma drifted through the chamber.

On the bed lay a woman — stunningly beautiful, dressed in a disordered black backless outfit.

Tall, slender-waisted, with long ebony hair streaked with dark red at the tips, she looked as if fire had kissed the night. Her jade-bright skin, red lips, elegant nose, and refined features made her seem carved by an artist's hand.

But in her crescent-shaped eyes, brilliance mingled with… resentment.

Longing and hatred — conflicting yet unmistakably vivid.

Following her glare revealed a boy not far from the bed — slim, sharp-eyed, standing still as a sculpted figure.

Pakura was already exhausted, and the boy choosing this moment to "act like a wooden statue" only worsened her frustration.

His teasing expression made her embarrassment and anger spike together.

"You…"

She halted, biting down hard. "What exactly are you trying to do?"

The previously still boy allowed a smirk to rise on his lips, cold and mocking.

"Weren't you the one insisting we have nothing to do with each other?

That I was 'forcing' you alone?

What's this, then?"

This boy was Evan — reincarnated into the Naruto world sixteen years ago, becoming just another child of Konoha.

Life had treated him poorly.

He had been tricked, starved, beaten, drunk, left to sleep under open skies…

And somehow, he clawed survival out of the Third Shinobi War.

In the late stages of that war, on the Land of Water front, he had brought back a dying woman — Pakura — and disappeared from Konoha's public eye.

"You…"

Pakura's breath hitched, her beautiful eyes burning with emotion.

She never begged.

She didn't need to.

Yet a soft, trembling whisper escaped her lips:

"Please… you—"

But before Evan could respond—

A voice echoed from outside the chamber:

"Hatake Kakashi, under orders of the Hokage!

Lord Evan is requested at the Hokage Tower for council!"

Evan lifted his head slightly, puzzled.

What would Minato need from him now?

After a moment's thought, he rose and began dressing.

"Wait—!"

Pakura bit her lip, reaching out in frustration. They had been mere moments away—

She grabbed his arm. "Where are you going?!"

"Someone's here for me," Evan replied with a faint, mocking smile. "Why? Something wrong?"

"…Can you not go later?" Pakura muttered, face flushing.

"You tell me."

Evan chuckled softly and walked out.

"You… bastard!"

Pakura trembled with anger as she watched him leave.

Outside, Hatake Kakashi stood at the grim entrance of the prison — a place that made even veteran shinobi uneasy.

Suppressing the discomfort, he called loudly:

"Under orders of the Hokage, Lord Evan is requested at the Hokage Tower!"

Moments later, Evan stepped out in simple black civilian clothes.

Sunlight spilled across his face, making him appear refreshed, bright — completely out of place against the shadowed prison behind him.

"The Hokage sent you? Must be something important," Evan said softly to Kakashi, his warm tone carrying a spring-breeze gentleness.

"Lord Evan's identity is… special," Kakashi replied with haste and respect. "Naturally, I came personally."

The two had once been classmates at the Academy.

Same class. Same age.

Their lives, however, had diverged wildly.

"Kakashi, how is the Hokage recently?

And what's this meeting about?

I've been underground for too long — I don't know Konoha's situation."

Kakashi exhaled.

"Sensei has been worried lately.

You know Lady Kushina — she's nearing her due date.

Because she's the Nine-Tails jinchūriki, her seal weakens during childbirth.

The Hokage wants everything prepared."

"So it's that time."

Evan nodded. "Who else is attending?"

"The Third Hokage and two elders," Kakashi answered.

The Konoha 'F4' — everyone but Danzō, isolated once more.

Evan quickly pieced things together.

Konoha Year 48 — Kushina, ten months pregnant, ready to give birth.

The Nine-Tails' seal would weaken to its limit during delivery.

Disaster could strike if they weren't careful.

Kakashi glanced at Evan quietly.

"With you there… the Hokage will feel more at ease."

Kakashi had once believed himself the ultimate prodigy:

Graduated at five, Chūnin at six, Jōnin at twelve.

But Evan — quiet, unimpressive, seemingly incompetent back in school — had hidden something far beyond normal genius.

If not for the battlefield, no one would know how terrifyingly strong he really was.

If he had clan heritage…

If his war record weren't so bloody, so eerie…

He might have been a legitimate candidate for Fourth Hokage.

Yet he had stepped back voluntarily, even supporting Minato openly.

Becoming the most trusted person of the future Fourth and his wife.

During the Third Shinobi War, two young shinobi earned terrifying reputations:

Namikaze Minato, the Yellow Flash, dominating the Lightning and Earth fronts.

Evan, whose path through the Wind and Water fronts was marked by nothing but corpses.

And yet… before the war, Evan had been painfully quiet.

Terrible at ninjutsu.

Always muttering bizarre things like:

"Ninjutsu? Not even a dog would bother learning that."

"I'm destined to become a saint of universal love."

He never won a single Academy spar.

But whenever real danger struck, he was always the first to step forward.

After the war, he moved into the shinobi prison — by choice.

Living alone in a place no sane person would stay voluntarily.

Looking back, Kakashi suspected it was tied to the tragedy on the Wind front — where Evan's teacher and entire team had died.

A wound that changed him completely.

Finally, Kakashi asked:

"Lord Evan…

That Scorch-Release kunoichi from Sunagakure, Pakura…

Is she still alive?"
