Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Blood of the Black King Nidhogg (Part 1)

Chapter 1: The Blood of the Black King Nidhogg (Part 1)

Douluo Continent, the outer area of the Star Dou Great Forest.

As the oldest forest on Douluo Continent, the Star Dou Great Forest has always been the continent's largest gathering place for soul beasts, boasting the largest number and greatest variety.

Here, with the exception of sea soul beasts, you can find nearly any soul beast you desire, provided you take the time to search.

From above, the Star Dou Great Forest is a sea of lush green. Countless towering ancient trees, hundreds of meters tall, stand

side by side within the forest, their intertwined branches forming a vast net that blocks out sunlight, casting a gloomy, menacing presence within the Star Dou Great Forest.

  "Roar!"

A deafening roar echoed from the outer area, shattering the tranquil atmosphere. A dense bush swayed violently, and the next second, a massive black shadow suddenly emerged from it!

The shadow's full form could be seen through the numerous blue silver grasses emitting a faint blue glow on the ground.

This enormous soul beast, resembling a horned lizard, boasted twin horns atop its head, its body covered in a layer of gleaming spikes, resembling a sturdy suit of armor. Its limbs, muscular as it scurried across the ground, its claws razor-sharp, shattering rocks upon contact.

Its thick tail whipped wildly behind it, creating sonic booms and cracking trees in its wake.

It was a dragon-horned hunting lizard, approximately twelve thousand years old.

Dragon-horned hunting lizards are relatively unknown among soul beasts, their rarity making them lesser-known. However, they possess a trace of rare dragon blood, making them far more powerful than ordinary soul beasts.

A cultivation level of around six thousand years could rival that of an average ten-thousand-year soul beast. Yet,

even this ten-thousand-year-old dragon-horned hunting lizard, a dominant force in the mixed zone of the Star Dou Great Forest, now had its scarlet eyes filled with panic, as if it were fleeing for its life.

And this was indeed the case.

In the dense forest above the dragon-horned lizard, a figure silently appeared. Three spirit rings, one yellow and two purple, pulsed slowly at his feet.

A dim light enveloped him in darkness, his features invisible, yet within his face, a pair of piercingly bright golden eyes shone.

"My wrath is the wrath of a king. From the heights of Babylon, burn as the sun!"

  "Word Spirit - Sovereign Flame!"

A language other than this, simple and profound, as if created by a god, echoed from this world, in this dense forest, above the fleeing dragon-horned lizard!

The voice was like the roar of a mighty dragon, majestic and tyrannical! It

was like the supreme king, speaking the decree of heaven, ordering the execution of his prey!

An invisible domain expanded from the figure's center, expelling all elements within a 300-meter radius except for the five elements of wind, fire, earth, water, and spirit!

The next moment, a violent fire element exploded around the dragon-horned lizard! The force was like a napalm bomb!

  "Roar!"

The attacked dragon-horned lizard let out a shrill roar, toppled to the ground by the powerful force of the explosion.

The blazing crimson flames on its body caused it immense pain, but faced with life-threatening danger, it struggled forward.

As a ten-thousand-year-old soul beast, the dragon-horned lizard was not unwilling to resist, but the terrifying dragon power emanating from the man forced it to flee.

Confronted by those dazzling golden eyes, it was as if it were witnessing a massive black dragon, obscuring the sky.

The dragon's might, like that of a dragon god, and the wings, draped with skulls, that seemed to tear the sky apart, instantly extinguished any remaining ferocity within it, leaving only the desire to turn and flee.

Elsewhere, the blazing flames dispelled the darkness from the forest, revealing the figure's full form.

Mo Yuan wore a black windbreaker, his long, inky hair flowing freely behind him. His skin was fair, and his features were eerily handsome, flawless and divinely crafted.

His dazzling golden eyes held a cold, murderous gaze, even hinting at brutality, like a ferocious dragon.

Looking down at the dragon-horned lizards below, screaming and fleeing in agony, Mo Yuan, expressionless, reached out and grasped the air beside him.

With a flash of white light, a three-foot-long, two-finger-wide, gleaming sword appeared in his hand. He

bent his legs and leaped forward, gripping the sword with both hands and slashing it from top to bottom at lightning speed, creating a silver crescent in the air.

The strike was so swift that the curved sword vibrated at an undetectable frequency as it sliced through the air, emitting a trembling sound that could rip your eardrums apart!

On the Douluo Continent, no one could deliver such a murderous and flawless strike, relying solely on skill and physical strength, without the use of spirit abilities!

A blazing blade flashed, severing the dragon-horned lizard at the waist with a single blow!

Deep crimson blood gushed out with a shrill roar, raining blood down upon the blazing flames.

The wound at the waist was smooth and flat, and as the blood gushed forth, a destructive force permeated the dragon-horned lizard, a destructive aura permeating its every limb.

Even though the dragon-horned lizard possessed a tenacious vitality, faced with a fatal attack and the aura of destruction, it could only twist its body in agony, slowly awaiting death.

But Mo Yuan was not one to wait. After a flash of blade light, he continued to hold the long sword and descended at high speed from the sky, his black windbreaker fluttering like a billowing battle banner!

The sharp tip of the blade thrust downwards towards the dragon-horned lizard's head!

  "Roar!!!"

Scarlet eyes filled with humanlike fear, the dragon-horned lizard let out its final roar.

With a swish, the long sword pierced its sturdy armor and sank fiercely into its brain, transforming it into a pulp in an instant.

Darkness enveloped its vision like a tide, and in its final moments, it saw only those golden eyes that had filled it with utter terror...

  With a swish—

Mo Yuan yanked the long sword from the lizard's head, slicing it in an arc through the air, its red and white stains splattering from the blade.

"Twelve thousand years—that's about right for my fourth spirit ring..." Mo Yuan said indifferently, gazing at the black spirit ring slowly emanating from the corpse.

Any other spirit master nearby would have thought Mo Yuan insane.

After a spirit beast's cultivation reaches ten thousand years, its posthumous resentment becomes entombed within its spirit ring, waiting for a spirit master to absorb it and deliver a fatal blow. This process is called soul shock by spirit masters.

Only a soul master who has broken through level fifty, whose physical and mental strength have matured, can withstand the shock of the soul. In the past, soul masters have attempted to surpass the limit of soul ring age and absorb ten-thousand-year soul rings.

However, the result is often a direct explosion of the body. Those who survived would also suffer a mental collapse, and become an idiot for the rest of their lives.

Mo Yuan knew all this, but he didn't care. As a time traveler who had read the original novel, if he didn't break the limit and absorb soul rings after traveling to Douluo Continent, could he still be called a time traveler?

Besides, we are all time travelers, who the hell doesn't have a cheat?
