The morning sun filtered through the trees, casting golden patches of light on the sidewalk. Toram adjusted the strap of his schoolbag, his hands tucked into the pockets of his hoodie as he made his way toward the tall iron gates of Valcrest High.
Kai: Yo, Toram!
Toram turned to see Kai jogging up beside him.
Kai: You looked lost in thought again. Dreaming about getting isekai?
Toram: More like dreaming about skipping math class.
They both chat as they stepped onto campus, blending into the usual crowd of students milling about.
Toram: Ehh.. We're in same class?
Kai: Aren't you suppose to be happy?
Toram: Why would I? This is going to be mess..
Kai: Hughh..You didn't change did you? Well, see you later!
Toram waves his hand and walks to his class.
In Class 2-B, the desks were already half-filled. Toram dropped into his seat by the window. The view outside gave him a perfect excuse to zone out whenever lectures got boring—which was often.
Lily: Hey, did you guys hear about the transfer student? Rumor says he's some kind of prodigy.
Kai: Great. Another genius to make us look bad.
Toram: Ohh you're already in here.!!
Kai: Hehe. By the way, are you finding place to sit?
Kai pointed to the seat near the window.
Kai: I think that seat isn't taken.
Toram: Ahh Thanks.
Toram walks to his seat and start sit.Toram stared out the window, his fingers tapping softly on his desk. Something inside him stirred. A whisper he couldn't hear yet.
