One would never know what the awaited until the day was over. In a similar way, the day could not also wait for the hearts of men to be prepared for the worst. Such was nature. A young lad could be deprived of good things only for him to still suffer death.
Such was the case of Zakar. A brilliant young man who had lost his parents in a ghastly accident. He learned to live by himself and on his own at an early age.
He worked in a popular Supermarket and it was on his fourth day of work that it happened. The event that changed his life and probably brought him to his destiny.
"Everyone lie down!!" a masked man shouted at the top of his voice. He wore black clothes all through. Behind him were four other men in the same attire.
Everyone fell flat at the sound of the rumbling gun shot. All faces kissed the cold floor and everyone could only but imagine what these men wanted in a Supermarket!
Zakar sat at the corner listening to music with large headphones and was totally cut out from the world around him. He didn't seem to notice the presence of the masked people before him.
"Damn you!!'' a masked man exclaimed with anger. The other four men turned towards the centre of attention. They stared at Zakar in shock.
"This freak is trying to play the hero here. I'm gonna teach him a lesson."
The tallest one among them said and rushed towards him. Then he slid his hands into his pockets and brought out a sharp deadly pen knife.
"Look boy. I didn't come here for strong headed ones like you." he said as he approached Zakar.
Zakar looked up to see the man then he noticed that everyone were on the floor. He didn't need an interpretation of the situation. It was a robbery. But why rub the Supermarket?
He quickly shifted backwards and the stabbing attack of the man shot at the table and it cracked openly. Zakar gulped.
Just at that spot was where his hands had been. This man wanted to kill him. He removed the headphone and it was then that the noise of the atmosphere washed over his face.
The cries of young ones and women. He stared around and notice that every of his co workers were also on the floor laying flat. His mind skipped.
For one thing he knew, he didn't love to give up without a fight. He looked around to analyse his situation.
A large metal rod was close to his feet. One that had broken off from a pipe. If he used this as a weapon, he was sure that it could be able to fracture the skulls of the men but his only handicap would be his agility and speed.
Besides they looked more muscular than he was. It would be easy for them to steal it from his weak grip and use it against him.
The man moved forward again and time he waved the pen knife with efficiency. He swiped it towards Zakar's arm but Zakar only missed the attack because he bent over to grab the rod.
Then he walked it upwards to strike the man on the lower thigh, crushing the balls to release liquid and cartilage.
"Arghh!!!" .
Everyone turned to stare at the man in shock. He fell on his knees in pain and then collapsed on his face. Zakar stole the opportunity to smash the rod against his head.
Splatter!!!!
Blood splashed over his face as he smashed the rod against the head of the man. Then he picked up the pen knife and turned to stare at the other robbers.
"Seems like they don't have a gun. This will make it easier." Zakar muttered to himself as he noticed that they hadn't made a move.
He then rushed over towards them but stopped sharply only to throw the pen knife at one of the robbers.
The knife struck at the eyes of the robber and he screamed in pain. Blood gushed out of his eyes.
"Damn!!"
"We've got to kill him."
Two of them rushed towards him and they struck simultaneously at Zakar with their knives. Zakar got cut by one from the right but the second one got bashed in the head with the metallic rod.
He then fell to the floor as his right arm was beginning to bleed profusely. He hadn't expected this happen. At least not yet.
He was only doing this to impress one of the female cashiers here. He only wanted to find peace. But amidst everything he was beginning to understand the world.
From behind, he had been stabbed. Blood rushed steadily from his mouth and stomach. He placed his hands on his stomach in pain and crouched on the ground.
"Dumbass. Why did he have to fight? Now his stupidity has caused his death. Serves him right. Fool."
Zakar looked and even though he could not see as his vision was now blurred, he could recognise the voice of Serena. The one person he had done this crazy act for.
Life was brutal as he always noted. There was no such thing as peace. Peace was only an illusion of the weak and stupid. It was a daydream of the naive and that was what he was.– A weak naive and stupid guy with no thought and plan about the future.
Just as he lay there he thought he heard something or he did hear something. A beep or no a laughter or perhaps words of someone.
His eyelids snapped shut in death. The last thing he heard from the outside world were the cries and screams of the masses. But all that didn't matter to him. He was dead and totally cut out from the outside world.
