In the colorful country of India, among the crumbling temples and bustling markets of Rajasthan, a boy named Dhruv was born on the special date of March 23rd, 2006. Since he could gurgle and gesture, Dhruv was fascinated by the stories of Hanuman's brawn, Arjuna's dexterity, and the magical abilities of ancient yogis.
His aspirations weren't to be a doctor or engineer but to possess the legendary Sudarshan Chakra or the wisdom of a rishi. Dhruv's affection with superpowers was grounded in the rich body of mythology that he had been brought up with.
He read stories of the Ramayana and Mahabharata and imagined himself fighting demons and saving the innocent. He'd sit for hours beneath the neem tree in his courtyard, acting as if he were levitating or generating fire with his mind, much to the delight and ultimate distress of his family.
As his grandmother pampered his daydreams with tales of gods and goddesses, his parents, hardworking and practical, were concerned about his future. They considered his dreams childlike indulgences, a distraction from his studies. "Beta, study your books," his father would advise, "Superpowers will not bring you a good job." *(Typical asian dads 🙄 )*
His mother, softer, but no less serious in her expression, conveyed the same message, her eyes full of a combination of love and concern.
At school, Dhruv was a target. His friends mocked his tales of flying carpets and shields that were invisible. They nicknamed him "Hawai-jahaj" (airplane) and "Cosmic Dhruv" (since he usually appeared lost in his own world).
The persistent teasing hurt, but Dhruv held on to his dreams, hoping that someday the divine would see his good heart and award him with the powers he so desperately yearned for.
One hot afternoon, following a bad day at school, Dhruv took refuge in the old Shiva temple on the outskirts of the town. He sat in front of the lingam, the cold stone providing relief from the burning sun and his disillusion. He shut his eyes, not to pray for powers, but just to let it all out to the god.
He talked of his dreams, his solitude, and his unshakeable faith in the extraordinary.
As he sat, a quiet sense of calm enveloped him.
The air became charged with an apparent energy. When he opened his eyes, he beheld a brilliant light radiating from the lingam.
He felt dizziness in his mind but he could never forget that moment, Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu, in their godly forms, stood before him.
Dhruv, bewildered but unafraid, bowed his head. The gods, their faces full of empathy, heard his story. Then they started doing something with Dhruv's body but Dhruv still had that dizziness in his mind, he felt sudden pain in his body and got unconscious but after sometime he woke up and felt something different in his body. He didn't know what was wrong with his body but he knew one thing that he saw god that night.
He is so happy. He immediately returned to the home and thought about them all night.
After that day, Dhruv started feeling the emotions of others more clearly. It's like he already understands what other's motives are towards him.
He thought it was a gift from God and started doing more research about his own body and after some days passed he came to know that he got four new powers.
He named them very crazily.
He got Divya Drishti (divine vision), the ability to perceive the truth beyond the surface, Atma Shakti (inner strength), an unshakeable resilience in the face of adversity, and Vani Siddhi (power of speech), the ability to inspire and heal with his words and the ultimate power of time manipulation ( not that powerful like in movies 🥲).
He concluded that these abilities would become more powerful over time and with his constant dedication to truth and righteousness.
Dhruv's life did not change overnight. He did not wake up to have wings or be able to move mountains. But something inside of him had changed. He started to perceive the world in a new way. His intuition became stronger, leading him down the right path. His words became meaningful, bringing comfort and hope to those who required it.
He excelled in his studies, not for the sake of a job, but out of a genuine thirst for knowledge.
He became a source of strength for his family and his community. He stood up to bullies, not with physical force, but with wisdom and empathy.
He turned into a living reflection of the principles he so deeply respected in the old epics. But Dhruv's increasing authority and the quiet but remarkable quality of his blessings were not lost on people.
He was noticed by someone, very evil, known as the Dashanans.
