Kai clenched his fists, a smile breaking across his face as excitement surged through him.
"Finally… Wood Release reached Level 1!"
"Just like the system said—leveling it up unlocks corresponding Wood Release techniques!"
Before all this, Kai had been just another overworked corporate drone on Earth, trapped in endless grueling corporate life schedules. But over a year ago, he had inexplicably transmigrated into the world of Naruto—and into the Uchiha clan.
The timeline of his arrival was Konoha Year 50—the very year of the Nine-Tails' attack.
Fortunately, as a die-hard Naruto fan, he had anticipated the danger in advance and managed to survive that calamity.
His adaptability also proved exceptional. It didn't take long before he adjusted to life in the shinobi world and blended in.
But reality here was far crueler.
During the Third Great Ninja War, his parents died on the battlefield protecting the village, leaving him an orphan.
Still, fate had not abandoned him completely.
Like any proper transmigrator, he had awakened a system—and through it, obtained the Asura's Chakra.
From what Kai knew, only a handful of figures had ever truly possessed such a physique: the Sage of Six Paths, Asura, and Hashirama Senju.
The Asura's Chakra wasn't a kekkei genkai, yet it surpassed many of them—closer in nature to a supreme bloodline from fantasy lore.
Once awakened, it granted terrifying cellular vitality—near-limitless regeneration, overwhelming life force, and vast chakra reserves.
Hashirama himself had chakra comparable to a tailed beast and was once praised by Madara Uchiha as an unkillable warrior on the battlefield.

Yamato used Wood Release for landscaping.
Hashirama used it to conquer the world.
Mocking as it sounded, it wasn't wrong.
Wood Release itself wasn't what made Hashirama terrifying.
It was the Asura's Chakra.
And now—
Kai was the fourth person to truly possess it.
On top of that, he had "accidentally" awakened Wood Release as a kekkei genkai. Through the system, he could convert chakra into energy at a 1:1 ratio to upgrade his three bloodlines.
Each upgrade granted corresponding abilities.
The Asura's Chakra enhanced physical attributes and chakra reserves.
The Sharingan awakened and strengthened ocular power.
Wood Release granted its secret techniques.
Within the Uchiha clan, children between ages four and five were taught chakra extraction by instructors.
Kai, however, had proven monstrously talented—mastering chakra extraction in less than a day, along with the three basic techniques.
Over the past year, he had carefully planned his growth.
First, he upgraded the Asura's Chakra.
Then the Sharingan.
And only last—Wood Release.
There was a clear reason for this order.
Before upgrading the Asura's Chakra, his chakra was only 200. After reaching Level 1, it jumped to 500—more than doubling.
With a larger chakra pool, upgrading the other bloodlines became significantly faster.
Thus, the sequence.
Sharingan second.
Wood Release last.
After the death of the First Hokage, both the Third Hokage, Hiruzen Sarutobi, and Orochimaru had secretly researched Wood Release. Yamato himself was a product of those experiments.
Kai understood this all too well.
If anyone discovered he possessed Wood Release, it would send shockwaves through Konoha.
At best, he'd be imprisoned in some dark underground facility by the higher-ups.
At worst—
He'd end up on Orochimaru's operating table.
So while Wood Release was immensely powerful, it had to remain his final trump card.
Unless his life was on the line, it could never be exposed.
On the other hand, the Sharingan offered a different path.
In the original story, achieving the Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan required transplanting a close relative's eyes.
But Kai didn't need that.
With the system, he could upgrade it directly using chakra.
All it took—
was grinding.
And as an orphan, he had no relatives whose eyes he could use anyway.
Even if he did, he wouldn't go that far for power.
That was his bottom line.
"Let's test the power of Wood Release."
Now that he had gained Wood Release: Cutting Branch Technique and Strangling Technique, Kai was eager to see their strength.
His home was located in a remote corner on the northwest side of the Uchiha compound—isolated enough to avoid attention.
"Good thing the Third Hokage, can't spy on me," he muttered.
Hiruzen's crystal ball allowed him to use the Telescope Technique to observe anywhere in the village—though he rarely used it unless necessary.
Kai had never used ninjutsu in front of him.
Which meant—
He was invisible.
The two Wood Release techniques granted by the system were already etched into his mind.
Kai mobilized his chakra, his hands flashing through hand seals.
"Wood Release: Wood Binding Technique!"
Whoosh—!
Seven or eight thick wooden branches burst from the ground.
Under his control, they moved like living serpents, coiling rapidly around a massive boulder.
These stones were ones he used for physical training.
"Tighten!"
At his command, the branches constricted violently.
Crack—crack—!
Fractures spread rapidly across the surface of the rock.
The sheer force of Wood Release was terrifying.
If an ordinary genin were caught in that grip, they would likely be crushed or suffocated to death.
"Wood Release: Cutting Branch Technique."
A sharp wooden spike shot out from Kai's right palm.
He lunged forward and thrust—
Screech!
The hardened rock was pierced instantly.
Then, with another hand seal, the initial spike branched outward—
Seven or eight additional spikes exploded in all directions.
The boulder was instantly turned into a grotesque pincushion.
"Wood Release paired with the Asura's Chakra… really is insane," Kai murmured, already looking forward to what future upgrades might bring.
"Though the chakra consumption is no joke…"
He gave a wry smile. Just two techniques had already drained a significant portion of his chakra.
Upgrading the Asura's Chakra remained the top priority.
After finishing his training, Kai dispelled the Wood Release and began cleaning up the courtyard.
Not long after he finished—
Knock, knock, knock.
A series of firm knocks sounded at the door.
"Coming."
Kai frowned slightly as he walked over and opened it.
The moment he saw who it was, surprise flickered across his face.
"Well, this is unexpected…"
"What brings you here?"
