The college's music block was completely deserted at night. Ishani was passing by to get her library books when she heard a slow, sad piano melody.
She slowly opened the door to Room 404. It was dark inside, only the moonlight from the window falling directly on the old piano. A boy sat there, his fingers working magic on the piano keys.
Ishani stood there, mesmerized. As soon as the melody ended, the boy turned his head. His eyes were deep and blue, like a deep ocean.
"You... what are you doing here?" Ishani asked in a trembling voice. "It's 12 o'clock at night."
The boy smiled, but there was a strange sadness in his smile. "I've been trying to perfect my melody. For the last ten years."
Ishani thought she'd heard wrong. "Ten years? You look barely 20."
The boy got up from the piano and went to the window. "My name's Ryan. And look, it's starting to snow outside. I'm here as long as it snows. When it stops, I'll leave."
Ishani looked outside; indeed, it had suddenly started snowing, without any weather forecast. When she looked back, the room was empty. Only an old music sheet lay on the piano, on which a drop of fresh blood had fallen.
