Long ago, in a land where mountains touched the clouds, a child was born during a red storm. The villagers whispered in fear and called the child the Born of Devil, believing the thunder and fire in the sky were signs of darkness.
The child's name was Aren
From a young age, strange things happened around Aren. Candles lit themselves when he was scared. Shadows moved when he was angry. Because of this, people avoided him, locking their doors when he walked by. Aren grew up lonely, wondering if the villagers were right about him.
One day, monsters from the northern ruins attacked the village. The guards were too weak, and fear spread faster than fire. As the village burned, Aren stood shaking—not with fear, but with choice.
He could run.
Or he could help.
Aren stepped forward, raising his hands. The same dark power everyone feared burst from him—not as destruction, but as a shield. Flames bent away from the homes. The monsters were pushed back by a force they could not understand.
When the battle ended, the village was still standing.
The people stared in silence. The power they feared had saved them.
An old sage walked toward Aren and spoke softly, "You are not born of evil. Power does not choose its heart. You do."
