Synopsis
Mondays suck. One second I’m buried under a collapsing subway roof, the next I’m waking up in a bed that isn’t mine, staring at a figure that looks like it crawled out of myth. Turns out, the universe has a twisted sense of humour. I’ve been dumped into a world crawling with gods, monsters, and billionaires in metal suits — but now I’ve got the biology of a Kryptonian running through my veins. And if that wasn’t insane enough, there’s a system in my head, one that promises I can bestow templates on those I deem worthy. A league of them. I don’t know why I was chosen, or what the catch is. All I know is this world isn’t ready for what’s coming. And neither am I.

Chapter 1 - A Normal Monday?

Waking up and realising it was yet another boring Monday with a whole week consisting of the monotony of spreadsheets, budget updates and the never-ending meetings to confirm that yes, we didn't make as much money as management wanted.

Potentially stalling them from layoffs and restructures in order to "optimise the workflow and cut down on monetary wastage", or some other bullshit excuse to explain their lack of any useful skills apart from kissing ass. 'Please god can you send us a flood or blizzard, just something to delay the start of those stupid adult responsibilities', holding my breath for the odd chance something heard me, but yet again my prayers went unheard.

Could possibly be because I'm not religious in any way, but hey we can't know for certain. With a loud groan letting my displeasure be known to whoever was listening I rolled out of bed. Finishing the same old routine in record time 'yay for the win….', I closed the door behind me and with a piece of toast in my mouth I made my way downstairs.

Almost on auto pilot I made my way down the street, to the subway and squeezing into the train I found a spot beside the door. Getting squeezed between a younger guy probably making his way to university, and an overweight lady absolutely doused in some kind of disgusting perfume I gagged as I tried to get whatever went as fresh air.

To no avail I had to persist through the polluted air and try not to breath in the virtual bouquet she had coating her body, seeing the passengers around notice my discomfort and smirk in amusement sent my already low mood to new lows. Finally my stop came up and yet again I managed to squeeze past the lady smelling like a rancid florist and escaped to the platform where I was release from my floral prison.

Putting myself on my semblance of auto pilot I made my way to the exit of the subway, trying not to think of the day and week ahead. Caught up in my head thinking of anything but my work I didn't notice the cracks spreading through the roof overhead.

Having mentally tuned out my surroundings I didn't even notice the conversations happening between the other commuters who had noticed. Still moving forward, I was completely oblivious to my surroundings until I felt something hit my shoulder. Thinking someone had tapped me on the shoulder I turned around, noticing a massive gap between myself and the crowd who had stopped closer to the gate.

Confused I saw where they were looking and yet again feeling something hit my shoulder I slowly looked up, noticing the large cracks running along the roof both in front and behind of my current position. Seeing more fragments falling down, one clocking me straight in my forehead and I felt a chill run down my spine.

"OH SHIT!!" Yelling out I shrugged off my backpack and made to run back to safety, but the second my foot hit the ground I heard the worst tearing sound in my life. The next moment my vision went dark as tons and tons of rock, dirt and other debris came plummeting down burying my body beneath its weight.

HIGH ABOVE THE EARTH

"Well now what has brought me here?" A figure appeared beyond the limit of the tiny blue planet below, closer to the grey moon covered in craters. Peering down at the planet it's gaze travelled across it as it seemed to be looking for something.

"Aha, there you are", locking its gaze on a particular city it seemed to vanish, and if you were particularly observant, and conveniently in just the right spot, on top of looking in the exactly right direction you may have noticed a random man appear in an alley as if out of nowhere. But the odds of all those happening at the same time were incredibly small.

The seemingly normal man walked out of the alley and looking like he was on a weekend stroll entered the adjacent apartment building. He made his way up to the 10th floor and reaching out opened the door of apartment 1005. Inside said apartment was a young man who prior to this was about to be buried by a collapsing roof, and who was deep asleep until…..

"AAAAAAHHHHHH OH SHIT I'M GONNA DIE", his screaming continuing, until he came to his senses realising that he was very much alive, looking down in confusion and seemingly in a bed. Very confused about his situation he looked around and upon staring at the door saw a strange figure peering at him.

For some reason it felt as his soul was made bare by this figure whose gaze unnerved him.

"Hello? can I help you?", pulling the blankets up wanting to cover at least something in order to break his gaze.

The figure in the door way just smiled in response to his questions and with a faint "oh yes I think you will do just fine". Struggling to hear, the young man was about to ask what he said until the next thing he knew the figure disappeared in the blink of an eye.

Jumping in shock the young man fell out of bed, smacking his face on the floor and flopped to the ground. Sitting up he blinked away the dizziness and tears from his eyes, needing to rub them again as he could swear, he was hallucinating. If not then he must have lost his mind because there seemed to be a screen in front of his eyes.
