A young boy wearing a school uniform stood at the corner of the balcony, overlooking the buzzing crowd of students on the ground, where some were playing, and some were lying below the shade of a tree. A hand fell on his shoulder.
"Where are you looking?"
Flicking the hand from his shoulder, Sam darted his head over his shoulder. "Fatty. Can't you see the premium look of the attire? And you want to wrinkle it?"
Mischievously clicking his tongue, he again put his hand over Sam's shoulder. "Tell me, from where am I looking FAT?"
"It doesn't matter. To me, you are still that snorting, runny-nosed, pumpkin-fat kid who fell from the stairs at every step in childhood," Sam snorted.
"You dare to blaspheme the purity of heart dear of countless girls..."
As the words continued to pour out from Fatty's mouth, Sam took out a biscuit from his pocket and stuffed it in his mouth. "Keep quiet for at least today."
Crunching the biscuit, Fatty snorted. "For this offering, I spare you," and stood beside him while his back faced the ground.
"Is something bothering you?"
Staring at the crowd, Sam nodded helplessly. "You should already know about my condition."
Nodding his head, Fatty turned his back, his hand resting on the balcony. "No benefit in dwelling over those things," and, giving a grimace look to Sam, he snorted, "Your starting point is already someone's endpoint."
Smack!
Flicking his right index finger at Fatty's head, Sam whispered to himself, "What do you know... Everyone awakened at least S-grade talent in my family."
"What are you whis—"
Before Fatty's words even continued, a loud siren rang in the periphery of the school's territory.
"All students are requested to attend the morning prayer in the gymnasium."
"I repeat: All students are requested to attend the morning prayer in the gymnasium."
5 minutes later
On the stage, a bulky man stood with a faint smile, adjusting the mic resting on the podium before him.
"Good morning to everyone."
"I, Ravi Chaudhary, the director of Michael Memorial College, am happy to announce that today is the 188th year, and Batch 188 is going to the Sanctuary. We welcome the first-semester students with open hands to come on the stage."
The director's words resonated in the hearts of every student in the gymnasium, including Sam, who sat near the middle of the first-semester students, and next to him was Fatty, named Rahul.
Though he used to call Rahul "Fatty," in fact, he was well-proportioned, and there was no tummy bulging out.
One by one, every student of the first semester stood on the stage with a lightweight, cubical-shaped material of roughly size 3 inches in their palm.
Rahul, among the group, tightened his grip around the cubical material, but it didn't even put a dent. "Quite sturdy."
"Of course, it will be," one of the students sneered.
Sam, standing beside Rahul, rolled his eyes at Rahul's action and inspected the cubical material with his scrutinizing eyes.

The announcement threw the entire world into chaos.
Criminal activities such as rape, theft, and murder skyrocketed as panic gripped the citizens.
People protested against the military, politicians, and businessmen, demanding protection.
Emergency alerts were issued by the government, imposing dusk-to-dawn curfew, and even several drastic measures were taken.
On the fifth day, a rift opened in the blank air, as if something very powerful drew a blade and cut down the air, tearing space, and only darkness was seething out from the rift.
Within just one week, half of the population was annihilated by those monsters.
Yet another week later, a resounding prompt echoed in the ears of every individual:
"A talent and System will be rewarded for humanity's perseverance."

Dungeons can be found both within the towers, where chaos-infested monsters reside, and outside the towers. The existence of a dungeon core is essential to keep the external dungeons accessible; without it, these dungeons automatically seal shut.
Following the prompt, every citizen has been bestowed with a Talent and the 'System.' The chaos and dungeons that plagued humanity began to be subdued by these newfound 'Players.'
However, once the chaos subsided, the population of every country plummeted by a large margin.
As a result, separate Federations were established through agreements among each country's leaders, dedicated exclusively to overseeing the 'Players,' 'Sanctuary,' 'Dungeons,' 'Towers,' and magical-related events.
These Federations also ushered in a new educational system, with schools now categorized:
