Chapter 1
Qingjiang City.
A quiet residential district.
Tang Yi lay sprawled across his desk, staring blankly at the mottled patterns of sunlight filtering through the window. He had been lost in thought for a long time.
It took him quite a while to finally accept one undeniable fact.
He had transmigrated.
When he woke up, he found himself in a completely unfamiliar room. Even the face staring back at him in the mirror felt somewhat strange.
He had no idea what kind of world this was.
A world where spiritual energy had revived? Gods and demons flying everywhere? Superpowered humans roaming the streets?
While he was busy guessing wildly, a middle-aged woman's voice called from outside the door: "Son, the finals of the Pokémon Girls World Cup have already started! Aren't you coming out to watch?"
Tang Yi's body trembled. A surge of wild joy rushed through him.
No gods or demons. No martial artists.
This was actually the world of Pokémon! Before crossing over, he had been a huge Pokémon fan. There couldn't be a better world for him to transmigrate into.
The person calling him was his mother in this world.
Even though he had crossed over, many things remained the same. His parents were still his parents, and his name was still Tang Yi.
But… why did she say "Pokémon Girls"?
Tang Yi shook his head and decided not to overthink it for now. He walked out of his study. The living room was modest but warmly decorated, with a 45-inch television placed in the center. The commentator's voice rang out with high excitement.
"Dear viewers, the finals of the 28th Pokémon Girls World Cup are finally underway! Both contestants have sent out their final aces — Dragonite and Metagross!"
As the commentator spoke, the camera switched to focus on the two figures at the center of the battle.
On the screen stood a valiant girl with a pair of light-yellow wings resembling Dragonite's spread across her back and a thick, heavy tail trailing behind her.
Opposite her was a cool-faced girl draped in a blue cloak, with a prominent silver "X" marking on her forehead — the signature trait of Metagross.
Tang Yi's mouth slowly fell open. He rubbed his eyes hard, making sure he wasn't seeing things.
These were Pokémon?
They were clearly two girls around seventeen or eighteen years old!
Pokémon Girls? Girls?
Holy shit!
Tang Yi gradually realized that something was very wrong with this Pokémon world.
The finals battle had already begun. The two girls clashed fiercely, unleashing familiar Pokémon moves one after another.
After more than twenty minutes of intense fighting, Dragonite closed the distance with Extreme Speed and unleashed a powerful Hyper Beam with one hand. The Metagross girl could no longer hold on and collapsed heavily to the ground.
Dragonite and her Trainer stood together on the champion's podium, basking in the cheers of the entire audience.
So this was how Pokémon Girls battled?
It was basically two beautiful young girls having an all-out brawl!
Tang Yi was still in shock.
His mother walked over at the right moment and patted his shoulder. "What an exciting match, right? Son, your dad and I have already discussed it. On your birthday, we'll buy you a beginner Pokémon Girl."
"Buy… a girl?" Tang Yi blinked, finding it unbelievable.
His mother gave him a strange look and scolded gently, "What nonsense are you saying? Even though they look like girls, Pokémon Girls are still Pokémon. They are fundamentally different from us humans."
"Haha, I slept too long at noon and my head's still fuzzy. I'm going back to my room to read!" Tang Yi quickly laughed it off. He knew he hadn't yet absorbed the basic rules of this world, so he hurried back to his bedroom.
Thankfully, this world still had computers, smartphones, and the internet, and they worked almost exactly as he remembered.
That made things much easier.
Tang Yi turned on the computer and began searching online.
Information about this world's history wasn't classified. A quick search brought up countless articles.
After reading for a while, he finally pieced everything together.
Long ago, this had been a normal Pokémon world, no different from the one he knew. But two hundred years ago, a strange meteor shower brought a massive energy storm that changed everything.
The energy storm had no effect on humans, but it caused all Pokémon to gradually transform into humanoid forms. This worldwide change was slow and irreversible, lasting over fifty years. Every Pokémon on the planet — including all their descendants — became fully anthropomorphic.
Strangely enough, after the transformation, all Pokémon took on the appearance of human girls around seventeen or eighteen years old. They were therefore named Pokémon Girls.
Although they possessed most human physical traits and could learn human language through training, in this world, Pokémon Girls were still fundamentally Pokémon.
The official consensus was that Pokémon Girls were a higher form of life resulting from the evolution of Pokémon ecology — a new category of beings existing between humans and animals, but definitely not human.
Tang Yi nodded thoughtfully.
No wonder his mother had scolded him earlier. To the people of this world, this was a deeply rooted belief that had existed for over a century.
What surprised him even more came later in the history.
More than a hundred years ago, this world had not been peaceful.
With over seventy countries existing across the globe, politics and war naturally followed.
After the full anthropomorphization, some nations attempted to use the superior strength, intelligence, and learning ability of Pokémon Girls to conquer the world.
This led to the First and Second Pokémon Girls World Wars a century ago.
The wars devastated every corner of the planet. Tang Yi could feel the brutality just from the old photos he found online.
Toward the end of the Second World War, the superpower known as the Beautiful Country (America) became the first to obtain a Legendary Pokémon Girl — Mewtwo. Using her terrifying power, they instantly destroyed an enemy city.
The world was shocked.
The enemy surrendered unconditionally that same day, ending the Second Pokémon Girls World War.
After that, every nation began frantically searching for Legendary Pokémon Girls.
In the following decade, eight countries publicly announced they had obtained one. The Xia Country where Tang Yi lived was the last among them.
The very next year, these eight nations signed the famous Legendary Pokémon Girls Non-Proliferation Treaty.
The treaty strictly forbade other countries from searching for Legendary Pokémon Girls, prevented the eight nations from acquiring more, and banned any military research or use of Pokémon Girls' power.
Although many countries opposed it at the time, the agreement of the eight major powers made all resistance meaningless.
In the ninety years since then, thanks to the deterrent power of the treaty, the world had finally achieved lasting peace.
With military applications banned, Pokémon Girls gradually integrated into everyday life, playing increasingly important roles in engineering, ocean exploration, medicine, and many other fields.
Becoming a Pokémon Girl Trainer naturally became the dream profession for people everywhere.
And the Pokémon Girls World Cup, held once every four years, remained the greatest spectacle on the planet, with countless Trainers striving to claim the title of the world's strongest.
