Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Prologue

Chapter 1: Prologue

Jotunheim—the home of the Frost Giants—is a frozen world that has remained unchanged for thousands of years.

Viewed from space, the entire planet looks like a deep blue gemstone, cold yet strangely beautiful.

In the darkness, inside the palace of the Frost Giant King Laufey, a figure suddenly flashed out and rushed toward the spatial rift between Jotunheim and Asgard.

In the blink of an eye, it disappeared.

Seated on his throne, King Laufey narrowed his eyes slightly, as if lost in thought.

Five hundred miles away from the Frost Giants' palace lay an ice valley. Massive icebergs blocked the sharp, freezing winds that swept across Jotunheim.

The deeper one went into the valley, the warmer it became. Near the bottom, there was even a small flowing stream.

At the source of the creek, a surprising sight appeared—plants of many kinds growing freely.

In a land where the temperature stayed sixty to seventy degrees below zero all year, the plants were still full of life.

Nearby stood a square-shaped igloo.

The door opened, and a man wearing a white fur robe stepped outside.

He raised his hand casually. Instantly, countless droplets of water condensed from the air and fell gently into the stream below.

Unlike the Frost Giants, who stood over three meters tall, this man was less than two meters in height.

When he lifted his head, his face was revealed.

It was an ordinary human face.

As his gaze slowly rose toward the sky, a vast continent suspended in the void appeared at the far edge of sight.

Colorful lights and shadows revolved around it in perfect rhythm.

At the center stood a rotunda made entirely of gold.

Inside it, a towering figure in golden armor stood silently.

In his hand was a golden guardian sword. On his head rested a horned golden helmet. His glowing orange eyes—capable of seeing every corner of the Nine Realms—seemed both open and closed at the same time.

If one stared deeply into those eyes, they would see the reflection of the entire Milky Way within them.

This was Heimdall, the guardian of Asgard.

The golden rotunda he stood in housed the Rainbow Bridge, the most important gateway in all of Asgard.

For tens of thousands of years, Heimdall had stood guard over the bridge.

His silence had lasted so long that many had forgotten he was a powerful god.

Some even walked past him, joking carelessly, unaware of who stood before them.

Few knew that in all of Asgard, Heimdall ranked second only to the All-Father Odin and Queen Frigg. Even Thor, the God of Thunder, might not defeat him—

Even if Thor wielded Mjolnir.

Heimdall's eyes could see across the entire Nine Realms, including Asgard itself.

Because he knew so many secrets, he had long ago learned to keep his mouth tightly shut.

Suddenly, a figure appeared beside him.

There was no sound.

Not even the slightest ripple of energy.

The newcomer wore golden armor and carried the legendary spear Gungnir.

It was the father of the gods—the ruler of Asgard.

Odin.

"Heimdall," Odin said.

The All-Father did not remain silent for long. His voice quickly pulled Heimdall away from his watch over the Nine Realms.

The strange light in Heimdall's eyes slowly faded. Turning toward Odin, he immediately knelt and bowed.

"Your Majesty."

"Have you discovered where the Seed of the Universe is hidden?" Odin asked.

A brilliant glow covered Odin's face, hiding his expression. But the tone of his voice revealed just how much importance he placed on the Seed of the Universe.

"The King of Spartax has hidden it very well," Heimdall replied. "Loki and Thanos have also helped conceal it. Please forgive my failure."

His face remained as hard as stone, but the remorse in his voice was clear.

He knew well how important the Seed of the Universe was to Odin—and to all of Asgard.

But with the King of Spartax working together with Loki and Thanos, locating the Seed had become nearly impossible.

"It is not your fault," Odin said calmly. "Loki chose betrayal. And betrayal always carries a price."

His tone softened slightly.

"Soon, Thor's trial will begin. Loki will serve as a suitable whetstone for him."

"Yes, Your Majesty."

Heimdall accepted Odin's words without hesitation. He also believed Thor would successfully pass this coming test.

After a brief pause, Heimdall added,

"Your Majesty, Loki returned from Jotunheim not long ago. And there…"

"I know," Odin interrupted quietly.

He understood very well what Loki's appearance in Jotunheim meant.

After thinking for a moment, Odin turned his gaze toward the distant world of Jotunheim in the deep void of space.

"Heimdall," he said slowly, "if I remember correctly, we still have a pawn in Jotunheim."

He paused.

"I believe it is time to send him back to Earth."

"Yes, Your Majesty."

Heimdall agreed without hesitation.

Beneath the vast cosmic sky, Asgard shone like a paradise—filled with flowers, birds, and breathtaking beauty.

And throughout the golden city, people were excitedly discussing the same topic.

The upcoming coronation of Asgard's future king—

Thor.
