Synopsis
Wolfgang died in a tunnel collapse and woke up as a broke medieval knight with nothing but a crumbling house and a longsword he barely knew how to use. The Beren Duchy was unforgiving: disease and violence lurked in every alley, nobles exploited peasants without mercy, and one mistake meant death or starvation. But Wolfgang had something nobody else did: the System. It offered repeatable quests, mysterious analytical tools called Scouters, and rewards that became his lifeline for survival. Through blood and sweat, he built himself up. Morning runs through beggar-infested streets. Wrestling until his body screamed. Endless longsword drills with German fencing techniques. He gathered loyal retainers: a devoted servant, a capable maid, young soldiers willing to die for him. From these humble beginnings, Wolfgang envisioned something greater. An army forged from nothing, bound by loyalty rather than fear. Trade routes that would fill his coffers with gold. Territory conquered not through birthright but through merit and steel. Lands that answered to no lord but him. Each quest completed, each enemy cut down, each political trap navigated brought him one step closer to true power. Wolfgang refused to be anyone's puppet. His goal burned clear: not to become some great house's kept dog, but to claim his own domain. In a world where magic didn't exist and only cold steel mattered, he would carve his legacy one bloody step at a time.

Chapter 1 - Last Commute

Traffic backed up in the tunnel on my way home from work. Usually there were a lot of cars, but not enough to bring everything to a complete standstill like this. There must have been an accident.

If it were construction, there would have been warning signs, but there was nothing like that.

I just waited for the jam to clear up quickly.

My only hobby was gaming.

It was easier to enjoy my hobbies than to squeeze time out of my busy work life to date someone. I had pretty negative views about marriage, so even in my mid-thirties, I had to listen to my mom nagging me to please give her a grandchild. But honestly, I was really comfortable and happy with my life as it was.

Anyway, how long is this going to last?

I need to get home fast and play Medieval Knight, which I picked up a while ago.

This game lets you become a knight yourself and operate in a medieval setting. It was a dream game that mixed simulation and action, roleplaying and freedom, managing territories and families, and an open world set across all of Europe.

Plus, a DLC adding the Crusaders is coming out in a month.

I was so excited and thrilled that I don't even remember if I did my work properly.

While I was holding the steering wheel and smiling happily like that, suddenly there was a huge crash. The moment I looked in the rearview mirror to see what was happening, I saw a large vehicle charging forward, crushing several cars.

I was so shocked I didn't know what to do, and then that large vehicle crashed into my car too.

BANG!

A massive impact hit me, and I don't know what happened after that.

The world went dark and my memory cut off.

Is that what dying is like? I'm completely stunned.

It's like looking back at myself from a third-person observer's point of view.

But then a warm light burst out and without realizing it, I opened my eyes.

"What the...?"

It didn't take long to realize.

I had opened my eyes as the main character I'd created through customization in Medieval Knight.
