Chapter 1 - Waking Up After Decades

It has been an hour since I woke up from this creepy place inside a cold metal capsule. I couldn't actually tell how long I have been here, but what I know is that... I had been captured.

However, I couldn't remember what led me to this weird place, but what I could vividly recall was that my plan to destroy the avatar and his allies had been ruined.

In my road to success in defeating my brother, Zuko and Katara in an Agni Kai (fire duel), Katara used her waterbending to trap me in a freaking block of ice, and then quickly chained my hands and feet to a nearby drain grate on the ground using metal handcuffs before melting the ice and leaving me completely trapped and frustrated.

The feeling of humiliation was unbearable. With my status as the Fire Lord successor, I couldn't accept this broken defeat, but eventually ended up crying my eyes out, knowing my brother was going to get everything I had ever wanted: the love, the respect and the crown.

I felt Pathetic.

I didn't need the look of pity he gave me; I only needed his fear, which was like a far-distant dream that might never come true.

I shouldn't bother about the past, though; I need answers for what's going on right now.

What was I doing here in this lab-like place? How the hell did I get here? Was something bad going to happen to me? Was I captured by the Avatar and locked in here so I wouldn't be able to take my revenge?

All these wild thoughts ran through my head as I tried to move my body, which was surprisingly paralyzed. To even move a finger seems like an impossible task.

As I took a deep breath and closed my eyes to relax, the hiss of the hydraulic and the peeping sound of the monitor filled my ears.

Just then, the sound of approaching footsteps filled the air, causing me to snap my eyes open. They were coming... Whoever my captors were, they were going to be here now, and I knew they weren't bringing good news.

The door to the lab finally opened, and five men in white overalls rushed inside. They took a look at me inside the metal capsule, and I was sure I heard one of them say, I was in good condition, and they should have to tell their master about it later.

I was at first bewildered, and tried to open my mouth to ask them who they were, what they were going to do to me or what was going on, but to my surprise, it seemed like my mouth was glued shut. I can't believe I was f*cking mute.

"Damn! Can this day get any better?" I cursed in thought, fighting the urge to explode even though I was totally paralyzed.

I watched the five men walk over to the monitor. Shortly after, one of the men walked over to a nearby desk and grabbed a syringe from the locker. After pouring a greenish liquid, which he took from a box, into the syringe, he tapped the needle and fixed his gaze on me with a smug smile playing on his lips.

"It's time," he said, approaching me. For a moment, I hated the fact that I was this vulnerable at this point, and I was sure it had something to do with all these jerk asses.

As the daughter of a very powerful Fire Lord, I was trained to be strong and untouchable. These mere creepy nobodies in front of me were really lucky I was trapped; if not, I would stop at nothing to destroy them and make them beg for mercy, like how I almost succeeded in making my brother beg.

As the man halted in front of me, the metal capsule opened slowly with a low mechanical sound.

"Inject her from the neck," one of the men at the monitor informed the man in front of me.

Hearing this, I swallowed hard. I wanted to shiver in fear, but my body remained stiff.

As if sensing my nervousness, the man in front of me spoke, "Relax, Lady Azula. This is just a needle. I can assure you it will hurt less than the feeling of you and your father losing to the Avatar decades ago."

The word 'decade' rang in my ears like a bomb. I momentarily forgot that his last sentence sounded like an insult and had to wonder how I could be trapped here for decades.

I wasn't paying attention to my present surroundings when I felt a thin, sharp pin pierce my neck. I wanted to scream, but no sound came out of my mouth.

For a moment, I felt dizzy. My head was spinning. From the weird feeling I got, I knew I was going to pass out, as it felt like the little energy remaining in my body was being siphoned.

I managed to look at the man who had just injected me and noticed an evil smile playing on his lips. I wanted to attack him and make him and the others pay with their breath, but just in time, I felt myself losing consciousness, and let myself black out once and for all.
