Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: The Demon and the Wine of Immortality

[Brain-Brain Fruit Consumption Site]

"Satan! Satan! Satan!"

"Appear, Lord Satan!"

"Please destroy the monsters who enslave and exploit us!"

A dilapidated basement.

Cloaked figures knelt in a ring around a pentagram, praying in hushed, feverish voices.

Outside, the sky was dim and heavy. Thunder rolled without pause.

A jet-black bolt of lightning speared through the roof and slammed into the basement.

The whole building shuddered. Smoke boiled up from the center of the magic circle.

The worshipers' hearts quaked. They lifted their heads, eyes wide with desperate hope.

Within the roiling smoke, a silhouette flickered into shape.

"Is that the great Lord Satan? Did you hear our plea?"

A hint of confusion flashed in Dimon's eyes. He glanced around and frowned.

Where is this? Didn't I get launched by a truck while crossing the street? What did I get dragged into?

He kept his expression cool. "Where am I?"

Everything screamed cult ritual.

"This is the mortal realm," said the eldest among them, the most devout in posture and gaze. His voice trembled with excitement. "Lord Satan, please help us kill the Celestial Dragons and the Marines."

Dimon paused. Celestial Dragons. Marines.

So this is the world of One Piece. I actually transmigrated.

"The Celestial Dragons," the old man ground out through his teeth. "A year ago, our country drew their attention. They held a killing game on our island. Everyone died. Only we survived by sheer luck."

So it really is One Piece.

Dimon's stomach tightened. This world was terrifying.

Pirates ravage the seas. The Celestial Dragons enslave the world. The Marines serve as their willing blades.

Drop an ordinary guy into this place without a cheat and he would not last long.

If you go to sea as a pirate, the Marines will hunt you down. Even if you make a name for yourself, you might end up eating prison rations before long.

If you join the Marines, you have to chase pirates instead. Get unlucky and run into a monster, and you feed the sea.

So where is my cheat?

A screen only he could see slid across Dimon's vision.

Demon Skill I: Brew Wine of Immortality

Demon Skill II: Locked

Demon Skill III: Locked

A demon, in the One Piece world?

Dimon knew the manga well enough to recall Devil Fruits, but literal demons were another question.

The magic circle, however, was very real. In some lands, pentagrams were used to summon demons through ritual.

The old man felt the cold gaze of the so-called Lord Satan fall upon him and seemed to understand.

He prostrated himself, forehead to the floor. The others followed.

"Lord Satan, we offer our lives. Please avenge us."

Dimon thought, I only just got my cheat. I don't even know what it can do yet. How am I supposed to fulfill your wish?

"What year is it now?"

He chose his words with calm authority. "The last time I was summoned was during the age of Joy Boy."

When you travel, your identity is what you make of it.

If they summoned a demon, then a demon is what I am.

The old man answered at once. "Great Lord Satan, it is Sea Circle Calendar 1482."

SCC 1482. When exactly is that?

Dimon could not recall dates from the anime offhand. Who memorizes the calendar while watching?

He did remember one thing clearly. Luffy set sail in 1520.

Which meant this was thirty-eight years before the Pirate King took to the sea.

Thirty-eight years earlier... a major event.

God Valley.

God Valley happened in 1484, thirty-eight years before 1522.

He did the math quickly and grasped where in history he had landed.

In two years, the God Valley Incident would erupt.

The legendary Rocks Pirates would shatter. Their members would scatter. Three of them would become three of the future Four Emperors.

"Where is this?" Dimon asked again.

"Beehive Island," the elder replied honestly.

Beehive Island. Hachinosu. The Rocks Pirates' stronghold.

Dimon felt speechless. To land here, in this era, was a nightmare start.

"I understand your plea. You may withdraw."

He waved them away. He had no time to humor them.

The old man hesitated, then seemed to take his meaning. He knocked his head to the floor and led the others out.

Silence at last.

Kill the Celestial Dragons? He did not have that kind of power. More than avenging his summoners, Dimon cared about understanding his system.

Demon Skill I: Brew Wine of Immortality

[Wine of Immortality]: Whoever drinks it becomes ageless and undying. No matter the wound, the immortal will not die. Even severed limbs and shattered bodies will regenerate.

[Cost to Brew]: 100 Demon Points per bottle.

Dimon's eyes lit up.

Ageless and undying?

He had seen something like this in a novel or anime before.

Yet at the end of the description, a thin line of text almost too small to notice caught his eye.

[Side Effect 1: If the demon places his right hand on an immortal's head and focuses on Devour, he can absorb the target's body, experience, and knowledge. This is the only way to kill an immortal.]

[Side Effect 2: Immortals may only address one another by their true names.]

That is terrifying.

Grant someone immortality, then devour them to gain their knowledge and strength. Even their body would reinforce his own.

His current status was that of a demon, but his physique was still that of an ordinary man.

What if they resist when I try to devour them?

It must be the right hand on the target's head. That gesture alone would make anyone fight back.

When I devour, I need to be absolutely careful. Only strike when the target cannot resist.

Immortality does not mean infinite stamina. Everyone gets tired, especially after a brutal fight.

Regeneration also consumes stamina and focus. If the damage is too severe, recovery takes time.

Which leaves the final question.

Brewing the Wine of Immortality costs Demon Points. Where do those points come from?

Dimon studied the interface patiently and soon understood.

In short, there is only one way to gain Demon Points.

Devour Devil Fruits.

So points will be hard to farm. I have only 100 now, enough for a single bottle. I need to use it with maximum efficiency.

With that thought, Dimon activated his skill.

Black lightning laced between his hands. Darkness coalesced and condensed into a bottle of liquor.

He popped the wooden stopper and inhaled. The aroma was rich and alluring.

"A small sip?"
