Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Death

December 24th, 2025. Like every other day, people can be seen rushing through the streets of LA, going about life, trying to make a living. The holidays do not stop anyone from working because if you don't work, you don't live, at least for the lower strung of society.

Amongst the crowd, you can see one man running, sporting above-average looks with an athletic build and emerald green eyes, which turn heads from all who stare into them. This man is Zale Tanek, an orphan who was found outside on a random rainy day. With nothing but his name engraved onto his basket and the clothing on his back, he was left alone until a nun took him in.

Life after that evolved aroung going to school, growing up, and eventually leaving the orphanage to make do with his owwn life. With no assistance given, the only way to live was to juggle jobs to keep rent paid and food on the table.

Distracted by his own thoughts, Zale bumped into a man moving boxes." Sorry," stammered Zale as he helped pick up the dropped items. The man, without even acknowledging him, continued doing his own business, and Zale continued on his way.

"I'm going to be worked to death," Zale stated as he continued running. "Why even have us work on the holidays?" he continued, wondering about the harsh reality of life.

"If only I could have the power to do anything, then I'll live life for myself without worries". Sadly for everyone, that's a dream only a select few could experience; others like himself have to do whatever they can to keep themselves alive.

Unknown to everyone, including Zale, a godly figure watching this mortal planet for distortions, was about to make a mistake that would change reality itself for good and bad, depending on who you ask.

"What's this? " the godly figure muttered as they looked at a specific street. "A wormhole is about to open and wipe this little place out of existence".

"Guess I'll help close it, can't have one of my assigned areas be destroyed", they muttered as they began to work on erasing the wormhole before it formed. Luckily, nobody was around as they began casting the spell needed to close it.

As the divine mana began to gather, the figures' form flashed, and their true form revealed itself. Sadly for everyone, they can't see the beautiful existence as her life level exceeds the mortals around her. If they were able to, they would see a breathtaking beauty wearing a pristine white robe with eyes that show boundless wisdom, raising her hands while divine mana condenses around her form, gathering at her hands, pointing towards a certain area.

Unknown to her, a figure concealed from fate was next to the unstable warmhole, so when she finalizes her spell, the warmhole, along with one man, was erased from the mortal planet.

Sensing a soul was taken from this planet by her hands, she panicked, as she is not supposed to directly harm any mortals under her watch. Making a quick decision, she summons the soul to her own divine kingdom before it gets pulled into the cycle of rebirth.

"What did I do? How did I miss this mortal?" she panicked as she did not want to report to the tribune of gods for this mistake.

"I know," she mused.

"I'll introduce mana into this man and send him to a different plane," spoke the goddess as she brainstormed ideas to fix her current mess. Many think gods are absolute beings, but as with anything in life, there's always something governing lives and making rules. This reality, known as the mortal Universe, is full of all sorts of planets and endless entities that live a life without any power. These mortals know nothing about the rulers above.

Anyone would ask why govern a plane of mortals, the answer is simple, every time a mortal dies and reincarnates, their essence is stripped and started anew. This excess essence is used for gods to continue gaining power and living, but for a mortal, mana means rejection from reality itself. As only the gods here can have mana, others are rejected and pulled to different realities.

Zale Hovers in an endless white expanse as a lost soul. Unknown by all time passes, and Zale finally awakens.

"Where am I?" he asked himself

"Am I dead? Is this the afterlife?" he continued

"Is the end nothing but endless waiting?"

And like this, Zale hovered and waited for who knows how long until a beautiful figure appeared next to him.

"Child.." she spoke in an angelic voice.

"You were a casualty mistake where you should not have perished".

Zale stared at her, wondering if he was dreaming. Just like that, at the ripe age of 21, he was killed by a goddess by complete accident and is now dead. Realizing that there's nothing he could do, Zale accepted the news with little to no emotion.

"You're taking the news rather calmly," she stated as she stared at the lost soul.

"What else can I do?" Zale replied.

"Life has always been unfair, always alone with no family, no friends, just work, so if I'm dead, then I'm dead; nothing would change that."

"Yes, mortal, your words are true, but I decided to make it up to you. I shall revive you and send you to a new world. As payment for killing you, I shall introduce mana into your souls so your new life will be one with the power to change destiny itself, rather than living another mundane life", replied the goddess as she began to infuse Zale's soul with mana.

Zale, with many questions, was not able to ask any as the moment mana was introduced to him, he felt a pull, more like a calling to leave. Without warning, Zale's soul vanished the moment the goddess finished the infusion.

"Hopefully, others don't detect this and this boy lives a better life wherever he ends up," the goddess whispered as she stood alone in thought.

Unkn own to others in this mortal universe or others throughout reality, this one interaction is going to change everything known to everyone, and now it's done. No way to shage the outcome exist, fates gears are turning and there's no stopping it now.
