A scorned, forgotten noble destined to live and die in the shadow of a hero. But this time… he will not follow the path written for him. He will not read the story of fate. He will rewrite it.

Chapter 1 - Prologue – The Last Link of the Chain

Prologue – The Last Link of the Chain

The sky was collapsing on me like a crumbling ceiling.

Time grew heavier with every breath, pressing down as if it wanted to crush me one final time.

And I… was dying. Again.

"The final act…" I whispered through the metallic taste of blood. "The same ending… again."

In this life, I had tried to be a hero.

I fought to save a nation, to become the light of humanity — and I died for it.

Yet in the end, the world still fell into ruin. Hope withered, and darkness consumed all.

And the chain… won once more.

The ground beneath me cracked, and the heavens split apart.

From the depths above came that familiar voice — one I knew I had heard before, though I could only remember fragments:

"Your duty is fulfilled. The cycle ends."

"Again?" I growled through clenched teeth. "Another life? Another chain?"

"Every soul turns upon the wheel of fate. This is the law of existence."

I knew what that voice was.

Some called it God, others Destiny… but I knew its true name: the Chain — the order that devoured freedom.

I had served it my whole life.

I fought for what was called "good," lived by its commands…

Yet every time, the result was the same: balance was lost, and everything crumbled.

And deep within my mind, a chilling realization lingered.

This wasn't the first time.

I couldn't remember them all, but I felt them — countless lives before this one, all devoured by the same unseen force.

I had always been just another link in the chain.

And the chain always won.

But this time… this time was different.

Because this time, I had read the future.

Yes — before I came here, I had read it like a story.

Empires, heroes, demons, and wars…

A radiant champion named Lucien and a dark king named Noctarion.

And caught between them — a pitiful noble's son, blinded by jealousy after losing the princess's heart to the hero.

A foolish villain who would side with demons out of vengeance… and die meaninglessly.

I had read it page by page.

But it was no fiction — it was a blueprint.

A warning written by the chain itself.

And now, I was about to be reborn into that very story.

"No…" I hissed, my heart pounding. "Neither light nor darkness… this time, I will belong to neither."

"No soul can escape fate."

"Then I'll break it."

Something inside my chest shattered.

The sound of breaking chains roared in my ears — but this time, it was weak.

The clinking links screamed as they fractured.

My body disintegrated, but my consciousness remained. Clearer. Sharper.

For the first time… free.

Suspended in the void, I saw two figures approach.

One, bathed in light — his golden armor shining, mercy and order glowing in his eyes.

Lucien. The champion of the chain.

The other, born of darkness — wings forged from shadow, hatred for the chain burning in his gaze.

Noctarion. The enemy of fate.

Both reached out their hands.

Both wanted me on their side.

But I… reached for neither.

"Neither light…" my voice echoed through the void, "…nor shadow."

Before me, a third door appeared.

There was no light. No darkness. Only balance.

And I stepped through.

🌌 The last thing I saw was a chain, breaking link by link. And in that silence, a voice whispered:

"You will write the next link, Seryn Daskal."

But then… another voice followed.

A whisper from between the pages of the story I once read.

"You've read us. Now live us."

When I opened my eyes, a different sky stretched above me.

The air filling my lungs was foreign.

The hands I saw were not my own.

And deep within me burned a hatred, a longing, a desire that did not belong to me.

The face in the mirror… belonged to the third-rate villain from that novel.

A miserable noble who resented the hero for stealing the princess's heart.

A fool who would betray his people and die pathetically in the end.

But that person was gone.

His soul had vanished.

And in its place — a soul that had broken the chain had arrived.

A soul that had stepped beyond the page.

I was now Seryn Daskal.

And this story would be rewritten by my hand.

✨ "Chains of Rebirth: I Reincarnated as a Doomed Noble" began here.

I am neither hero nor demon.

I exist only to bring balance.

And this time — the chain will break by my will.
