I could have understood getting reincarnated in the MCU with a Gamer System? Heck, I would have celebrated even. But this is not MCU!!!

Chapter 1 - Where Am I? [Chapter 1]

Congratulations! You have been chosen as the host of the Gamer System!

I had to admit, this was something new… I have been trapped in this never-ending void for quite a long time, with no hope of ever escaping. However, if this were real, and not some hallucination, then I finally had some hope of leaving this place.

…Though the question was, should I dare to hope?

If this turned out to be just a hallucination, then I would be devastated… I at least knew that much. I had already given up hope on ever leaving this place, but if this turned out to be fake, then it would break me in ways I couldn't even imagine.

Now, I could only hope that I wasn't hallucinating and hope for the best. Fortunately for me, I was pretty familiar with this kind of trope even though I had never experienced it myself. At this point, I didn't even care what happened to me as long as I managed to escape this hellhole.

The void was an extremely dull place, and a person could only review all of his memories so many times before growing tired of them. At first, the memories helped, but soon, I started to grow tired of them.

Honestly, I wasn't even sure why I hadn't gone insane yet, or maybe I had… I just hadn't realized it yet…

Please select your Race!

[Human][?]

The screen shifted, and the text on the screen changed. Ok… Maybe I am not tripping after all, or maybe all of this is still just an elaborate piece of hallucination my mind has conjured up to protect my sanity. However, I still decided not to take any chances.

…Can you elaborate, please?

[Human] - 15% Exp Gain.

With every universe existing, Humans shall walk its Earth as well. In every corner of this Omniverse, you'll see subjects of this race living, cruelly dominating weaker races in numbers, as well as having mid-level intelligence and strength.

Humans' true potential in their ability to learn and understand, as the strongest and most intelligent humans are able to turn the tide against far more powerful foes of different species.

[?] – Random Race

Wow… Way to go, humans!! A part of me wanted to take the gamble and choose the Random option, but at the same time, most of me wanted me to make the safe bet and choose Humanity since I was already familiar with it, and the Exp Bonus was pretty neat.

So, without wasting any time, I selected human, and the screen disappeared, before a new screen appeared in my vision…

Initializing System… Please Wait…

Welcome to the Gamer System!

Perks gained!

[Gamer's Mind] – Perk

Immunity to most high-level mental attacks, such as mind control and mind-reading, and makes the user calm in heated situations. The user will think with logic more than emotions.

Certain Traits and Debuffs will bypass the mental protection of this perk.

[Gamer's Body] – Perk

Your body will act as that of a Video Game character, but slightly grounded in reality. You will still need to eat, drink, and sleep, but sleeping in comfort will fully restore HP, SP, and MP, while sleeping on a hard floor will only restore a quarter of that.

You can regenerate severed limbs, excluding your head. Certain races will ignore that weakness – but if the wound is cauterized, you won't be able to regenerate your missing limbs.

Skills gained

[Observe] – Skill

A vision-based spell that shows the stats of the target. The spell can be sensed by powerful and experienced beings or any individual who is very sensitive to magic.

Costs 0 MP

Whoa… The full Gamer experience, please no nerf! Though no ID Create hurts in the feels… It would have been awesome to have that, but I guess I shouldn't complain much, considering all the free goodies I was getting already.

Then the next moment, I was standing inside a mid-size apartment. It wasn't huge, but at the same time, it wasn't small. The apartment was easily big enough for two people. Though a part of me was still raging at the fact that the System didn't even ask me where I wanted to go before reincarnating me.

It was a dick move on the System's part, but the rest of me was simply glad that I was finally out of the void. I shuddered just at the memory of that place.

I would take obliteration of my Soul any day over returning to the void…

Still, I needed to know where I had been reincarnated before doing anything else. So, I walked up to the window and peeked through the blinds. Wherever I was, I was glad that I was finally back in civilization.

This place could be a deathworld for all I know, but I wasn't willing to go out without a fight… You can bet your ass that I was going to fight tooth and nail if it meant I could live another day. Maybe that was why the System chose me instead of choosing someone else in my place…

An idea came to my mind. System, can you tell me where I am?

Negative!

Well, it was worth a try, I guess…

Quest Added

[Where Am I?]

Objective - Discover where you have been reincarnated.

Rewards - Starter Pack.

I'm not going to complain about the Quest, but how am I supposed to complete it? I have zero clues about where I am. Maybe... I immediately started to check my pockets, but there was nothing but a hundred-dollar bill in my pocket.

So, I am in the States… It was not a big clue, considering I could recall dozens of stories based in the States at the top of my head, but it was a start. When I was finally finished checking my pockets, I decided to take a peek inside my pants.

I have just been reincarnated, so equipment inspection was just a necessary course of action…

I was glad to discover that my equipment was much bigger than the one I had in my past life. Good going, System. I think I am starting to like you, even though you pulled a dick move and reincarnated me without asking my opinion.

Still, what to do now?

Maybe searching the apartment might give me a clue… So, I decided to do just that. However, as soon as I came across the mirror, I stopped. Goddamn! I looked like a hunk in all the good ways. I didn't know exactly how tall I was, but I was easily 6 feet.

I ran my hands through my jet black hair and took a good look at my piercing blue eyes. Like I said, I looked good. Women won't be dropping their panties just after getting a glance of me, but I was going to turn heads, that's for sure. The System was finally starting to win me over.

After admiring myself for a few more seconds in the mirror, I flexed the baseball jacket I was wearing and then started to search the apartment again. Unfortunately, I was unable to find a single clue in the apartment.

The apartment was decently stocked, but I wasn't able to find anything aside from groceries and clothes in the apartment. Feeling dejected, I plopped down on the bed and released a defeated sigh.

I should have known that it wouldn't be that easy…

Realizing that I won't find an answer in here, I decided to leave the apartment… I didn't have a cellphone, considering they were a thing in this world. Just after leaving the apartment, I came across an elevator, which looked modern enough.

I didn't come across anyone else during the elevator ride, but the streets were milling with people. I looked around and failed to find anyone with their face stuck to their smartphone screen, which meant smartphones weren't a thing yet.

I was probably somewhere before 2009 since smartphones became the norm in the early 2010s.

However, the world looked pretty modern, which meant we aren't that far from the era of smartphones. Hence, I guessed it was probably 2009 or somewhere around that.

Or I might be completely off the mark, and this world might be technologically shunted…

"Excuse me, sir? Is there a library or something in this area?" I walked up to one of the street food stalls and asked the owner.

The man looked at me with a scowl. "You buying anything?" The man asked.

Wow, what a bitch, but I needed the info.

So, I pulled out the only hundred-dollar bill in my possession and handed it over to him. "Just one hot dog, please" I ordered. At my words, the man finally lost his scowl and started to smile.

"Coming right up!" The man exclaimed cheerfully before handing me a hot dog and the change. Then he finally gave me the directions. At least, he kept his part of the deal…

Sometime later, I finally arrived at the public library and, without wasting any time, I walked up to the newspaper stand and grabbed the latest newspaper. The first thing I checked was the date, and I was spot on.

It was 2009, but then my gaze landed on the big picture splashed on the front page, and I froze.

That's Ironman…

Holy shit! Am I in Marvel? Shit! Shit! Shit! While cursing in my mind, I beelined toward one of the empty booths and sat down. I needed to get to the bottom of this shit.

I carefully read the headline and started to wonder if I had read it wrong. So, I read it again, but it remained the same.

'Another Gate Successfully Cleared By Our Beloved Hero Iron Man'

What the fuck?!

What Gate?! I screamed inside my mind and inspected the picture closely. Now that I was paying close attention to it, I could clearly see a Dungeon Gate just behind Iron Man. With the urgency of a dying man, I read through the whole article.

Apparently, Iron Man had successfully cleared an A-Rank Gate since his debut, which happened last year. The timeline didn't match. Tony Stark was supposed to become Iron Man in 2009. The timeline was fucked, obviously, but that was the least of my concerns right now.

I dropped the newspaper on the table and scratched my head in confusion.

Did the System really drop in some world which was a mix between Marvel and Solo Levelling?

Quest Completed!

[Where Am I?]

Objective - Discover where you have been reincarnated. [x]

Reward - Starter Pack.

A weird-looking metal box dropped in front of me, which came out of nowhere, but somehow, I wasn't feeling too good after finishing the Quest…
