Chapter 1 - Floor 36 - Hanging City, Aurine

A boy no older than fifteen walked out of his house if you could even call it one, it was more like a run down shack that he and his family were using for shelter.

Just then as he began walking a woman's voice rang out.

"Make sure you and Rose don't get caught up in anything!"

The boy scoffed before responding back.

"Yeah yeah I know mom."

The boy was wearing ragged black clothes and a cloak.

His frame was nice a suprisingly built in a part of the tower where most are malnourished.

'That bastard Rose should be at our usual spot'

Walking down the dirt road he made turn into an alleyway where they was fence made from rusty sheet metal.

He grabbed one of the sheet metals that didn't seem to be bolted and moved it aside and went into the crawl space that it revealed.

Aurine, being on floor 36 afterall was a rather… not the best of cities it was run down and basically all of it was slums except for the very center where there are wealthy people who reside next to the gate of ascension but besides from that it's a s***show.

After having crawled for while into a building he made his way into a hidden space which was the size of an office and as he got up and patted the dirt off of himself a voice spoke to him.

"Ha Quince I almost thought you died on our last job."

Quince snickered before responding back

"You wish, asshole"

They both paused for a moment before looking at eachother and laughing.

Rose came up to him and dapped him up and gave a short hug.

Rose was a smaller man compared to Quince's larger build and while Rose had pale white skin and Raven colored hair, Quince had light brown skin that looked more on the pale side and dark brown hair that was almost black but not just right. Rose's eyes were black as well, while quince had gray eyes.

Quince looked at the table which seemed to have plans and layouts set out on it.

"What's this Rose?"

Upon hearing Quince, the edge of Rose's lips curled up into a wicked grin.

"Our best heist yet!"

Quince looked at his wide grin and couldin't help but sigh.

'He's acting like a kid haha.'

Quince walked around the table to the other side to look at the papers.

"So is it what I think it is?"

Rose or what his actual name is Roosevelt grabbed a pair of circular framed glasses that look like a certain wizards before laying everything before me.

"Yeah it's ascension gate, you know I've been scouting this out for a while. Anyways the job is still up. With this we might be able to get the Weaver artifact! Haha with that we might even be able to move to the 40th floor!"

Quince's eyes widen in disbelief.

"A- A weaver artifact? Are you sure you know how rare those things are! That's rank 4! RANK 4! Are you sure it's even still in this city! Plus getting that Bearer artifact on your face was hard enough and that's Rank 2…"

Rose sighed and pushed his slipping glasses up making a intricate pattern spark to life with blue light and still having that sly grin on his face.

"Please these things were a cinch to get plus all these things do is increase thought and giving aim assist though it'd probably sell for pretty penny since knowledge artifacts especially at rank 2 aren't common"

Quince sits down on a couch that off to the side and puts his hands on his face groaning.

"F*** it, what do we have to lose besides I'd rather die than keep staying in this floating piece of crap."

Rose chuckled before speaking in slight sarcasm.

"Hey Aurine isn't that bad even if it is a crumbling city that's almost out of ore veins."

"Well anyways I already have a tunnel into the inner city but getting into that damned house will be a issue they have security all the way up my *** and their all Shards too but only at Rank one touched and their captain is a one rank higher."

Quince grumbled as he lit a cigarette at the ripe age of fifteen and took a drag.

"Oh of course they are all shards why wouldint they be? Are they mercs or are they part of a house"

Rose's smile faltered for a second before responding.

"T- that's the issue haha they… are the house of sun"

Quince let out a laugh.

"Issue? Who cares like you always say it doesn't matter who we rob as long as we don't get caught right? How much is that guy from the underground ganna pay for this anyway? 5k? 10k frags?

As the mention of how much the two were getting payed Rose's smile went wickedly high.

"42k. Frags more than enough for use to get to the 40th floor, also stop smoking how many times have I told you that if you keep smoking you won't be as effective when it comes to fights and climbing!"

Quince rolled his eyes before stomping out the cigarette.

"Yeah yeah I got it."

Rose went over to a wooden chest and opened it up taking out a few items.

"Our cloaks alone are Rank one artifacts with the darkness attribute making it hard to see us and making us lighter but these three here is how we do it. The key here can open any door having the chaos attribute at rank 2 though it'll only work twice before going hay wire cause chaos yknow. The powder is rank 1 sleeping powder for insta knock outs along with some climbing gloves and of course a nicely made distraction by you of course haha here take this it'll give you a speed amp when you drink it."

Handing quince a vial which seems to be holding lightning within it.

"Anyways apparently the artifact we are stealing is attributed to war and looks like this"

Tapping the side of his glasses twice before a 3-d hologram of a spear appeared, its tip was jagged yet sharp with a yellow at the core of the blade and sleek red wood with black fur.

Quince looked at the weapon in awe for a second before speaking.

"A Rank 4 weapon… what's its name?"

Rose looked at it for a moment before giving the answer.

"The spears name is, The Song of Blood."
