Chapter 1 - A New Start

""Hello, I'm just a normal human working a normal job… basically the tutorial mode of life that never ends. "And if you're wondering who I am… I'm Leo—the guy life forgot to patch.Funny thing, my name means lion… but most days, I feel more like roadkill, "I'm just a tiny, terrified cat, too scared to walk my own path… which is probably for the best, since life has a habit of dropping anvils on the genius " .

Another normal day begins as a fat fuck of a boss yells at Leo: "LEO! WHY CAN'T YOU DO ANYTHING PROPERLY? WRITE THIS ALL AGAIN!"

Leo ( Thinking ):"I wish I could kill this guy… but I'm too scared. From the start, I've always been someone living in the shadows of others, unable to do anything on my own. I guess this is the fate of someone who has no one to love—no parents, no girlfriend, no friends. Just waiting to die."

Leo worked overtime, rewriting all his documents after an already exhausting day. He was just thinking about whether he should end his life or not when he remembered he still hadn't finished the novel he was reading—The Chronicles of the Null.

Leo (thinking) : "I'll finish it first… then I'll end it."

Suddenly, his phone rang. An unknown number flashed on the screen. The caller's voice asked, "Do you want to live a better life?"

Leo thought it was a prank, so he answered, "Sure. Why not?"

As soon as he said those words, the call was cut.

Leo (sighing and to himself) : "I actually expected it to work… I'm a dumbass, aren't I?"

Leo was walking home late in the night, his bag slung loosely over his shoulder, the weight of another exhausting day pressing down on him like chains — or maybe just too many snacks from the vending machine. The streets were quiet, dimly lit by flickering lamps that buzzed faintly in the cool night air, like they were also done with life. He rubbed his tired eyes, lost in thought, when something strange caught his attention. At the end of the road,a bus came speeding straight toward him, accelerating as if it hadn't even seen him—or maybe it had, and just didn't care. At the very last moment, Leo managed to stumble out of the way, his heart racing with terror. His legs trembled, but anger quickly replaced his fear.

He shouted after the bus, his voice cracking with rage, "I almost died there! Do you have buttons for eyes, you idiot?!" His words echoed into the empty night, carried away by the roaring engine that never slowed down, never looked back—probably late for its next attempt at murder.

Leo stood there, chest heaving, expecting at least a flicker of guilt or acknowledgment—but nothing came. Just silence and the distant growl of the bus disappearing into the darkness, like a villain exiting dramatically after winning.

Then, suddenly, a sharp pain pierced his chest. It was as if a cruel hand had clenched his heart in a vice—or maybe the three cups of coffee and zero hours of sleep were finally billing him. He gasped, stumbling to his knees. Years of stress, sleepless nights, and endless overwork had finally caught up to him. His vision blurred, the world spinning away as cold sweat drenched his skin.

"I… really…" he whispered weakly, "…almost died."

And then, with a final, shuddering breath, Leo's body went still. Under the lonely streetlights, his story seemed to have ended—though somewhere in the distance, that same bus probably missed another red light.

In an ocean of eternal darkness, Leo's vision was blurry. Through the void, he saw a white figure slowly approaching.

"I told you, didn't I?" the figure said, its voice calm yet echoing with power. "That I would give you a better life."

The figure gently touched his forehead. "Go. Live the life of a hero. Of course, every hero has their cheats—you will too. Don't worry."

As soon as those words were spoken, Leo's consciousness shifted. He opened his eyes—and saw two tiny hands.

Leo (Thinking):"I… I finally have the chance to live the life I wanted. A life full of adventure, of quests, of saving the wor—"

But before he could finish the thought, a thunderous voice roared nearby: "THE DEMON LORD HAS BEEN BORN!"

Leo's tiny eyes darted around in panic. He saw countless figures—humanoid in shape, but each bearing horns or strange features that made them undeniably inhuman. Confusion gripped him. Where… where am I?

Then, the most beautiful woman he had ever seen appeared before him. She gently lifted him into her arms, her voice filled with triumph as she declared: "PRAISE THE DEMON LORD!"

Leo's heart stopped from the shock. Overwhelmed, he fainted on the spot.

Somewhere between space and time, the White Figure lounged around like he had nothing better to do. Suddenly, the Black Figure appeared, striding toward him with an annoyed expression.

"Did you successfully select a hero?" the Black Figure asked, crossing his arms.

The White Figure yawned. "Of course I did."

"You didn't mess up like last time, did you? Last time you literally killed the hero instead of sending him to another world."

The White Figure waved him off. "Relax. No way I messed up. And even if I did, there's absolutely no chance I turned him into, say… a Demon King or something."

The Black Figure squinted. "Uh-huh. Right. So then… who did you select as the Demon King for that hero?"

Silence. The White Figure froze like a kid caught stealing cookies. Slowly, he tiptoed backward, whistling as if nothing had happened.

The Black Figure instantly grabbed him by the collar. "YOU DIDN'T FORGET TO SELECT A DEMON KING, DID YOU?!"

The White Figure forced a smile. "Sometimes… the true villain is one'sel—"

WHAM!

The Black Figure punched him so hard, the White Figure crumpled to the ground, clutching his stomach.

"You had ONE job!" the Black Figure roared.

The White Figure, barely conscious, groaned, "....Barely Felt it , I know u can do better , punch me harder Dadd-"

Black figure throws him out of the space.
