Growing up as a slave, Grey never thought that he would one day become an Artist, an elite group of humans chosen by an entity known as the Akashic Records. He is torn away, by the tyrannical hands of the Akashic Records, from one of the sanctuaries humanity's only hope against Defilement, and forced to fight creatures and even fellow humans for the slight chance he might survive another day.
