Darkness.
That was the first thing he noticed. A heavy, suffocating black that stretched on without end. No pain, no warmth, no cold — just the void.
"…Huh?" He blinked. Or at least he thought he blinked. Hard to tell when you don't even have eyelids anymore. "Wasn't I… crossing the street?"
Memory flickered. Headlights. A blaring horn. A split second of disbelief before everything went crunch.
"Ah. Truck-kun." His voice echoed hollowly in the void. "The classic."
Before he could complain about clichés, a bright ding! resounded in the emptiness. A glowing blue screen appeared in front of him, floating like some divine pop-up ad.
[Welcome, User.]
[Cause of death: Sudden vehicular accident.]
[Qualification for transmigration: Approved.]
"…Wait, approved? Approved by who?!"
The screen ignored him, shimmering as though proud of itself. Another line appeared.
[Please spin the Wheel of Templates to determine your body, powers, and world of transmigration.]
A massive roulette wheel materialized in the void. Its surface was divided into countless sections, each labeled with terrifying names that radiated power: Great Red (High School DxD), Ainz Ooal Gown (Overlord), Nyarlathotep (Cthulhu Mythos), Arceus (Pokémon), Othinus (Toaru Majutsu no Index), Shub-Niggurath (Cthulhu Mythos), Eru Ilúvatar (Lord of the Rings), The One Above All (Marvel), Azathoth (Cthulhu Mythos), and more.
The wheel pulsed expectantly. He sighed. "Fine, fine. Let's spin."
He reached out. His hand — or whatever counted as a hand now — pushed the wheel. It spun wildly, colors blurring together.
Clack-clack-clack-clack!
The void filled with the sound of fate being decided. His nonexistent heart raced as the pointer clicked past Great Red, skipped over Ainz Ooal Gown, barely avoided Nyarlathotep… and finally landed with a heavy thunk.
The screen flared.
[Congratulations!]

He stared blankly at the glowing text.
"…Yggdrasil? As in, the god-computer from Digimon?"
The screen pulsed cheerfully.
[Correct.]
