Chapter 1 - Prologue

"What?

This pain… it's like my body can't breathe right. Damn it!!"

A mysterious world, with the constant ringing of bells, like a dreamscape haunting his mind. The piercing pain spread from within his skull. Leo Cadderick tried to open his eyes, hoping it would all disappear.

His body was stiff, as if he were being burned alive.

Dizzy. Nauseous. A cold wind pierced his head. Everything mixed together, making it impossible to open his eyes. This cursed pain truly locked his eyelids shut.

Am I… dead?

Just as he began to accept that possibility, his body suddenly jolted, his consciousness returning. He gasped for breath. His mind was a mess. Leo exhaled slowly, trying to calm himself.

His brow furrowed. Both hands covered his face. He leaned his head against a building wall. All the pain had suddenly vanished, gone as soon as Leo regained consciousness.

The night world was so calm and quiet, with the intense moonlight illuminating everything. For the first time since waking up, the pain was simply gone. It was as if his body had returned to normal, but his mind was now filled with strange questions.

The shock made him stand up spontaneously. The rough, heavy sound of his shoes scraping sent dust flying in all directions, forming small clouds around his feet on the dry, dusty road.

Leo walked toward the domed castle with cobalt blue light illuminating its front yard. He tried to understand… why he was in such a strange place.

"Did I… transmigrate?"

Then he opened his hands again. Looking at his wrists, Leo realized, there should be two black spots there.

The first time he saw it, a strange, turbulent feeling arose within him. Of course, he didn't believe it right away.

As Leo stood in front of the castle and looked at the window glass, he saw a man, with black hair and bright blue eyes like crystals. His hair had been

messy since he first woke up, seeing that Leo tried to tidy it with his right hand.

Archie Miscall, the name kept echoing in his head. Leo felt like a stranger in his own body, with some incomplete and unclear memories. He tried to remember what happened before he moved into Archie's body, but his memories were fragmented. Unanswered questions continued to haunt his mind, making Leo feel increasingly confused and uncertain about what was really happening.

After thinking about that, there was something strange surrounding his shoulders, with the atmosphere around him turning eerie. Finally, he decided to leave and find a place that seemed safe. Just as Leo took a few steps, the castle suddenly emitted steam, and slowly disappeared.

Leo didn't realize the castle had disappeared. Suddenly, the atmosphere around him changed into a city with lights illuminating all the city streets.

Not far from where he was walking, a clock tower could be seen. Every minute, the clock tower rang its bell. It was a tribute to the goddess, for giving life in every second, minute and hour. This tradition had been around for a long time, and continues to this day.

Leo was stunned. He didn't understand why the sound of bells was always heard every minute. But in his mind, he was still thinking about how to return to Earth. One thing Leo didn't realize as he walked, several people passing by were watching him and some were talking about him from behind.

Why are people paying so much attention to me? Is there something wrong with my appearance?

Not long after that, his body swayed and suddenly fell. He groaned, the pain in his chest and especially in his head intensified. His teeth chattered, his whole body trembled.

"Ahh..." He shouted loudly. The pain spread throughout his body. The pain made him unconscious and he simply fainted.

Why are you here? Get out, you useless person!

Vanish from this world!

The voice came from nowhere, not from outside, but from inside his own head. Cold, strong anger, and a sense of disgust filled with emotion.

That made him silent. Unable to do anything, his whole body returned to the first time he woke up and realized he was in the body of a strange man.

As if in the middle of an endless expanse of fog, Leo suddenly regained consciousness, and the pain disappeared again. The incident was as if it was just a nightmare that befell him. But it wasn't a nightmare, but a bitter reality that befell him.

The world around him still felt blurry, cracked gray stone walls floating around him. The damp air pierced his skin, and the scent of strange fragrances stung his nose. He didn't know where he was, or why the voice sounded so clear.

Leo held his forehead. It felt like something strange was spreading through his brain. His body felt like it was being pierced by barbed wire. His eyes widened as the strange feeling made him uncomfortable.

"This feeling, it's so weird?" he whispered, his voice barely audible amidst the throbbing pain and the endless expanse of fog.

This pain was very strange to him, disappearing and appearing just like that. Plus, it attacked fatal parts like the brain, heart and important limbs of the body. This continued to make Leo a little careful, because he didn't know for sure which part of his body would feel very painful next.

Still thinking about this silent expanse of fog, as he just remembered, he had just been walking through a city with the ringing of bells every minute.

But at this moment, he was standing in a strange place again. With strange feelings constantly appearing in his mind, making Leo feel unsafe. One thing was certain, he wanted to get out and return to his original world.

"Damn! I've walked in every direction, but I haven't found any signs of life here," he said in a tone of despair.

Trying anyway, Leo couldn't get out of this foggy place. Wanting to make sure one more time, Leo opened his palm and touched the thick fog. When his index finger touched the fog, the sensation he first imagined was like holding jelly. Supple and soft on the skin of his finger.

Smiling. Thinking about something. With a quick movement, Leo swept the fog and like a slime it flowed slowly dripping down to his feet. As he had suspected, this place had something to do with this world.

After thinking for a moment, he ran while stretching out his hand, sweeping the fog at every step of his feet.

As much as possible Leo wanted to eliminate all the fog in this place, but that was impossible if he thought about it again. But there was no harm in trying, and he still did this ridiculous act.

A few minutes after carrying out his plan, as he suspected. The fog he touched turned into a strange gray slime and formed a door as tall as the clock tower he had previously seen in the city.

Since the appearance of the door, black smoke appeared and surrounded the entire door. Feeling this was a way out and havi

ng no other choice. Leo opened the door and after that he was dragged into it.
