Grand Line, Calm Belt — Amazon Lily.
In a forest on the eastern side of Amazon Lily, inside the nest of some unknown ferocious bird, a boy around thirteen or fourteen years old sat there, looking utterly miserable.
This nest belonged to a savage bird species, and that boy's name was Hunter Blake.
Hunter felt deeply wronged. Others who transmigrated were reborn as the children of nobles, wealthy merchants, or at worst, in some ordinary family.
But him? He had barely arrived when some filthy bird swooped in, grabbed him, and dumped him here.
Now, facing several screeching chicks with savage glints in their eyes, Hunter's face twisted in frustration.
Damn it. Those looks… they clearly see me as food.
He wanted to lash out and vent his anger, but each chick was nearly two meters tall. With no weapon in hand and his scrawny body, how could he possibly fight them?
"Chirp! Chirp! Chirp!"
The young birds cried sharply, their shrill voices as grating as nails on glass.
Hunter couldn't understand bird language, but from their expressions, he could easily guess their meaning:
I want to eat. I want to eat.
"Are you kidding me? You bastards actually think I'm food?" Hunter's anger boiled.
He steadied himself and thought inwardly: System, don't I still have one random exchange left?
"Yes," came the calm, mechanical reply inside his mind.
As a transmigrator, Hunter had his own system—though a peculiar one. It was called the Exchange System.
The system had two primary functions:
Equal Exchange — He could trade an item of value and receive something of equal value in return, but always from another world. For example, trading an apple might yield coins, or perhaps another world's exotic fruit. Nothing would ever come from his current world.
Random Exchange — A gamble. Offer any item, and the result could be worthless… or priceless. A fruit might yield a gold coin, a common stone, or even a divine fruit from the Immortal Realm. Even if he offered something as valuable as a Devil Fruit, the return might be a legendary treasure—or just another ordinary fruit.
In short: Equal Exchange was safe, Random Exchange was risky.
System, can I exchange this entire bird nest? Hunter glared at the chicks with fury.
"Yes."
"Then do it." Hunter didn't hesitate. He only regretted that the massive bird who captured him wasn't here—otherwise, he would've sacrificed it too.
"Exchange commencing."
A dazzling white light enveloped the nest.
"Chirp! Chirp!"
The chicks panicked immediately, flapping their wings in terror, screeching frantically as the glow surrounded them.
"Ha! Now you know fear? Too late for that," Hunter sneered, savoring the sight.
Then the cold mechanical voice echoed in his mind: "Exchange successful."
The light faded—revealing a colossal figure.
Its serpentine body stretched hundreds of meters across the sky, vast crimson wings unfurled, and a violent shockwave swept through the forest.
"Slifer the Sky Dragon!" Hunter's eyes widened in awe and delight.
That crimson-scaled body, those massive wings, the gaping maw lined with fangs—it could only be the divine card monster from the Yu-Gi-Oh! world.
"ROOOAR!" Slifer rumbled affectionately, lowering its head to nuzzle against Hunter.
Hunter grinned, reaching up to stroke the dragon's massive head.
Jackpot.
He never imagined a mere nest of chicks could be exchanged for Slifer the Sky Dragon. This was like winning the lottery a thousand times over.
Slifer was one of the three Egyptian God Cards, a being capable of overwhelming worlds. Even in the One Piece world, its power stood at the very top.
The chicks might have been dangerous, but compared to Slifer, they were dust beside gold.
Hunter had truly struck treasure.
