I walked alone in this lone street of Lexus City. Not knowing where I'm headed to, just following the whispers within me. And I think, I've done enough to this pathetic world, had done enough hearing and following the whispers within me. This world, filled with betrayal, lust, filth, greed and filthy creatures who think there is no one above them. We humans are always like that, thinking we are the strongest and there is no one else above us. I was like that. Some might worship this imagery figure which they call GOD, just to show that they think they are something or someone higher than them. But on the inside, they are still the same.
My name is August, August Grimm. The delusional call me The King. I still don't understand why they call me by that stupid name. Is it because I saved them? Or is it because of the fear they had when I slaughtered an entire cult group, known as the Zortin. The Zortin, was a cult group feared by all, because of their goal to revive The Absolute God and bring absolute destruction to this world. And I slaughtered them all, 5 years ago, without breaking a sweat.
I have fun, killing them. The way they begged for mercy, it was a glorious sight that I will never forget
Enough with all that cult and god and those stupid stuff, they are useless for now. Back to my introduction, my name's August Grimm, 19 years old, son of my lovely mother and a caring brother to my lovely sister. I have only one main goal, and that is to protect and make my mother and sister happy. They are the only ones I have. And if someone tries to even touch or even think something about them in a bad way, I'm going to do something worse than death.
This world, it's mysterious in its own way. No one has solved even a fraction of the mysteries hidden in this world, let alone solving the mysteries in the other realms and worlds. The books in the Lexus library says that each realm and each world has its own unique features and energies. Thus, each realm and world has different power systems. In this world, in which I am in, the common energy used by a certain group of people known as mage or cultivators is mana and spirituality. And just like said, only some of them can use this mana and spirituality. Not everyone can do it.
The non-mages or the non-cultivators live a harsh life because of some filthy animals who think they are the strongest. They get beaten, trampled over them, or worse get raped. Thankfully, the current king of Victoria, King Serus, abolished filthy mages from assaulting the non-mages.
"August !. August !", a soft, worried voice was heard behind me. That sweet, soft voice filled with worry and fear. I turned, just to see my mother, Lara Grimm running towards me, with tears in her eyes. I realized that it was already midnight and was really late. I promised her that I would reach home early, but just like last time, I broke this one as well.
I ran to my mother and hugged her tightly, "It's okay mom, I'm here. Sorry for worrying you", I said gently, even though my eyes were urging me to let go of the tears that I held, to go freely and cry in her gentle arms.
"It's okay, my sweet little boy." said my gentle mother, caressing the back of my head. Her hand brushed through my black hair that I got from her.
"Let's go, your sister is waiting. She's being quite troublesome when you are here walking blindly."
"Yeah, let's go." I said while holding my mother's hand, which I haven't done for a long time. The last time I held my mother's hand was before I went to the Lexus academy, a prestigious academy meant for the young awakened mages. Mages normally awaken between the ages 8-10. The awakened mages are then enrolled to magic academies such as Lexus academy and are trained to be a good mage.
After graduating, the mages are then given the choice of choosing the sect they wish to choose, for example, the heavens sect, righteous sect, etc.
Putting all that aside, me and my mother finally reached our little, sweet home. Mother looked at me with a gentle smile, and I knew what I had to do. I knocked on the wooden door. The door opened softly, and was welcomed by a warm hug from my cute little sister, Lucy. Lucy is 3 years younger than me. Even though she's 16, she's like a 6 year-old kid in a 16 year-old body when she is with me and mom. I hugged her back and said with a simple warm smile on my face, "Sorry to keep you waiting, Lucy.".
"She almost cried when you didn't come home.", mother said, standing behind me.
I looked at my sister Lucy and said with a smirk, "Really? Did my little sister miss me that much?"
"Mom! Why did you say that? And no, I didn't miss you at all.", my sister said, trying to look like she was telling the truth, but was betrayed by the embarrassed expression on her face.
"Ok, Ok. Let's go and eat dinner, shall we?" I said, patting Lucy's head.
The three of us sat at the dining table. Mother served us the delicious food she made.
As we ate, I looked at my sister, and at my mother. Their happy expression as they ate the delicious food. I recalled the worried expression on my mother's face, when she came looking for me, and was reminded again, that no matter how lost I get, no matter how worthless I become, in the end, they'll always be with me no matter what.
I don't care what life throws at me, I don't care where I'm thrown at, I'll return to them. Even if it tries to kill me, I'll come back to my mother, to keep her safe and keep her happy forever, and ever. That's my vow, my promise. A promise that I'll never break, a promise that I'll keep even if it costs my life.
