Spring of the eleventh year in Konoha.
Beside a gently flowing stream outside the village, six-year-old Yun Zhong Qu Feng lay on the grass, arms folded behind his head, staring up at the vast sky.
The water murmured over smooth stones, and the air carried the mingling scent of blooming flowers and fresh grass.
"Ugh, this life is unbearable. No phone, no anime."
He muttered in frustration. "I shouldn't have randomly decided to watch Boruto. And now, of course, I've been transported back to the time when Konoha was just founded. I'm basically cannon fodder!"
Qu Feng had not originally belonged to this world. In his previous life, he had been a recent university graduate, a young man brimming with enthusiasm, returning to his hometown to contribute to its development. He had always loved Naruto.
But then came the news that Boruto, the so-called "unburnable series," had somehow become ridiculously popular.
As a fan of Shippuden, Qu Feng had initially dismissed Boruto, but curiosity won over. He clicked to see how good it could be.
The result? He had been utterly blown away—his soul flung into another world!
He awoke in Konoha, five years after the village was founded, as the leader of the Yunzhong clan.
The title sounded grand, but with his late parents, the clan consisted of only three people.
In other words, Yun Zhong Qu Feng was your standard "orphan transmigrator."
"What the hell kind of leader am I?" he snapped, sitting up angrily.
Based on his previous life's research of Naruto history, the First Great Ninja War would break out in roughly six years.
For now, the world seemed calm, but once war erupted, human life would be worth nothing. Corpses would litter the fields and rivers would run red. That was just the beginning.
Still, there was good news and bad news.
Good news: The First Hokage, Hashirama Senju, would not send children to the battlefield.
Bad news: Hashirama would be dead by the time the war actually started.
In other words, if he didn't fight, someone else would—and they would probably send him straight to the front lines!
"This is such a scam!"
Despite his current lack of ambition, Qu Feng had once been full of confidence upon arrival in this world, eager to achieve greatness and fulfill his dreams as a ninja.
But after his parents had died two years prior during a mission, that ambition evaporated.
His father had been a strong ninja, possibly of Jonin caliber, but he had died easily. And Qu Feng, an orphan without any Kekkei Genkai or background, had no realistic hope of making a name for himself in the early, chaotic ninja world.
Unless the Hokage took notice, which now, he no longer cared about. All he wanted was a peaceful life.
If nothing went wrong, and with some luck, surviving until the Boruto era might not be impossible. Maybe.
Qu Feng silently swore: if he lived that long, he would give Boruto a proper whack with a stick.
"At least there's a large inheritance at home. I'll retrieve my father's will and then live a quiet life as a normal person."
Suddenly, a hollow, mechanical voice echoed in his mind:
[Ding—Host has spoken the words 'peaceful life.' Peaceful Life System activated. Living area bound to [Konoha Village].]
[Congratulations, host has survived six years in Konoha Village.]
[Reward: Newbie Gift Pack.]
Qu Feng froze. "Wait a minute. Back when I vowed to make a name for myself in the ninja world, you didn't show up no matter how much I begged. Now I want a peaceful life and total rest, and you finally appear?"
"I swear!"
After venting his outrage, Qu Feng gradually calmed himself and began to consider this system that seemed completely oblivious to timing.
"Peaceful Life System, huh? From the name, it should help me relax completely. Let's give it a try!"
He eagerly issued the command: "System, open the Newbie Gift Pack."
[Newbie Gift Pack opened. Congratulations, host has obtained:
[Full Attribute Basic Chakra] (Yin, Yang, Water, Fire, Earth, Wind, Lightning)
[One Card Chakra] (equivalent to the chakra of a fully grown Kakashi Hatake)
[Kekkei Genkai: Crystal Release] (weaknesses removed, partial mastery of ninja techniques acquired)
Power is the foundation of a peaceful life. Enjoy your life in tranquility, host.]
Qu Feng blinked. His mind temporarily disconnected.
"Damn it! How is this supposed to make my life peaceful? This is pure torment!"
This system, selling itself as a blessing while delivering hardship, had shattered his carefully planned two-year dream of a simple, ordinary life.
After a moment, he forced himself to calm down. "Well, I suppose power really is the foundation of a peaceful life."
"Bullshit! This is ridiculous!"
No matter how much he cursed, there was no response from the system.
Resigned, Qu Feng opened the system panel with his thoughts. His current stats were displayed clearly:
[Name] Yun Zhong Qu Feng
[Age] 6
[Power/Chakra] Chunin/1 Card
[Kekkei Genkai] Crystal Release
[Talent] Full Attribute Chakra
[Peace/Chaos Value] 100/0
"So I have Chunin-level power at six years old. Barely sufficient. But I do like the Crystal Release Kekkei Genkai."
He understood clearly: a six-year-old Chunin in Konoha was considered a prodigy, but on the battlefield, a Chunin was just cannon fodder.
Since he could no longer live as a normal person, he decided to live peacefully as a ninja instead.
Everything could work if planned carefully.
Qu Feng frowned. "To survive the First Great Ninja War, my current power is far from enough."
"Besides, Konoha itself won't remain peaceful during this period. The Uchiha Rebellion and the Five Kage Summit will directly or indirectly trigger the First Great Ninja War."
Danger lurked everywhere.
Then he noticed the Peace and Chaos values on the panel. Their purpose was obvious:
If anyone near him threatened Konoha, a Chaos Event would be triggered.
Successful resolution increased Peace Value, which could be exchanged for items in the system store. (Living one day in Konoha earned 100 Peace Points.)
Failing increased Chaos Value. Once it surpassed 70, Qu Feng would lose the system-provided power until the value dropped below 70 again.
Self-gained abilities were unaffected.
Historical major events in Konoha also counted as Chaos Events.
There were other ways to earn Peace Value, but Qu Feng would have to discover them himself.
He calculated: "Six years until the Great Ninja War. That should be enough time to build strength."
"And ambitious clans like the Kumogakure will definitely make their moves."
He stood, brushing the dust from his robe. "Time to head back and retrieve my father's will."
Just as he prepared to leave, he noticed a figure approaching from a distance.
'Who could be here?'
Qu Feng tensed. The forest, though near the village, was treacherously complex, easily causing anyone unfamiliar to become lost.
He had memorized the paths by chance two years ago, making this his secret base.
No ordinary person would enter.
Only a ninja could.
Qu Feng silently ducked behind a large tree.
As the figure drew closer, he could see it clearly: a man in simple attire, in his twenties, with a scruffy beard.
"Something's wrong. Could he be a spy?"
The system's voice chimed in: [Chaos Event triggered. Kumogakure has sent a spy to gather intelligence, preparing for war.]
Qu Feng grinned. "Ah, this is getting interesting."
