Chapter 1 - The Endless Hunter: Chapter 1

Leo stared at the waterfall as it crashed onto the rocks below, then sighed. These were the last few days of his life. His heart was slowly beginning to fail.

He was filled with sorrow — not because he would cease to exist, but because his family would be left behind, struggling to survive without him. His wife Martha, and his two daughters, Elizabeth and Catherine. He wanted to protect them, but he knew he wouldn't get the chance.

As he watched the water flow, the ground beneath him suddenly shook, and he stumbled. He then heard a faint *DING!*, and realised that his surroundings were changing, and eventually resembled a dimly lit forest. He gazed in wonder at the forest, which the sun's rays ever so barely reached him. Abruptly, out of nowhere, a notification appeared before his eyes, floating in thin air.

"Welcome to the System! Analyzing Human:

Human- Leo Smith, Class-E, level 0.

Health Points: 13/50

Stamina: 12/30

Mana Points: 0/0

Strength: 20/40

Speed: 25/50

Now please choose a Class.

*CLASS SELECTION*

Archer - Has no rival in ranged combat-highly powerful if used properly. Focuses on using Perception and Agility.

Swordsman - Expert fighter in close combat- focuses on mainly strength and speed.

Mage- Gains the ability to cast powerful spells for combat and defense, mainly focusing on Mana Points.

Leo's mind went blank. What was he supposed to do? The system, or whatever it was called, supposedly asked him to select a type of combat. Leo shrugged. No harm, right? He considered his options. He always wanted to be able to hold a bow and arrow with him at all times, and Archer seemed like a safe and powerful option. Swordsman focused mainly on strength. Judging by his body state, he decided that swordsmanship wasn't the right option for him. Finally, Mage. Yes, Leo would love to be able to cast spells and do crazy looking attacks, but then being a mage sorta looked....boring. Out of Archery, Swordsmanship, and Magic, Yes-Archery suited him perfectly. He made up his mind and swallowed, and with a shaking body, he selected "Archer".

*DING!*

Class obtained. Leo Smith, Archer-Level 1. Initiating Process..... Begin."

The world around him swirled, making Leo feel dizzy. He soon found himself being transported to another location once again, this time on top of a mountain, which appeared to be in the middle of a large island. In the midst of his confusion, he realized that he had a pouch with him. He checked what was inside it, and saw that it contained 4 bottles. He looked at them, and somehow, he could identify what they were. He looked at the red bottle first.

"Health Potion: Common- restores 30 Health Points when consumed."

So if Leo drank it, he would apparently receive 30 more health points, which meant instead of 13, he would have 43/50 if consumed. He mover on to the next potion.

"Stamina Potion: Common-restores 30 Stamina when consumed."

Leo guessed that this one would improve his stamina- which he himself thought that the description made obvious. The second to last one was yet another red one.

"Health potion: Uncommon-restores 100 Health Points if consumed." Leo was genuinely impressed. He himself didn't even have that much Health points at maximum, and since this was an uncommon rarity, he concluded that higher rarity levels were better than lower levels like "Common".

Finally, he Identified the last one.

"Mana Potion: Common- restores 30 Mana Points when consumed." Leo wasn't sure what "Mana Points" were, but he was pretty sure they had something to do with the mind.

And of course, he noticed that he had a bow in his hand. It was a well-built bow, sturdy and polished, made with fine wood. He also had a quiver at his back, which consisted of a total of 55 arrows, as he counted them one by one. As he was admiring his possessions, he heard a faint growl. He slowly turned his head around, only to find a gigantic creature that resembled a fox staring at him with narrow eyes. He tried Identifying it, and at that moment he knew he was dead meat.

"AMBER FOX-LEVEL 3"

His mind only came up with one thing. On instinct, he knew that he was about to get into a fight, one that he would never forget, one that would give him severe wounds.
