Chapter 5 - The Endless Hunter: Chapter 5

Skill Selection. Leo had just received something called a Skill Selection. Based on what it sounded like, it seemed like it was good. Free Skills? That meant more power, right? The system had given him a new level, and now he was Level 4. Then it had offered something called a skill selection. Leo grinned. He opened the selection up.

*SKILL SELECTION - 3 options - 1 Selection*

*Splitting Arrows - Common*

"Your arrows have a mind of their own. They seperate, each impaling different foes. Obtaining this skill will give you the ability to split your arrows in mid air. WARNING: Each split arrow will do slightly less damage than all put together."

Leo considered this option. It sounded good, but the part about slightly less damage just sounded a bit...bad. Anyways, he moved on to the next skill.

*Explosive Arrows - Uncommon*

"Your arrows are now combined with explosive energy. Selecting this skill will give the user an option to make one's arrow explode on impact, or just pierce. Explosive radius and energy increases with further upgrades.

Leo grinned. Just imagining his arrows exploding into fire while hitting monsters was crazy. He moved on to the last one.

*Arrow Recall - Uncommon*

"This skill allows you to retrieve your arrows, as they will come flying back to your quiver, damaging anything in their way. Obtaining this skill will give you an endless supply of arrows, as they will never get lost."

Leo frowned. This skill allowed him to not lose his arrows, and they would come back to him. The part where they would do damage as they came back seemed useless to him, since what are the chances that they would stand in the line of crossfire? He was disappointed.

*Daggers of Hunger - Rare*

"This skill allows you to drain energy from your foe to your dagger. The amount of energy consumed by the dagger/daggers allows daggers to gain more power, becoming more and more lethal. As the dagger gains energy, they will deal more damage, become more sharper, be lighter, and become more durable."

Apparently, he could choose only one of these skills. Thankfully, he could now narrow it down to one, since the Arrow Recall was out of the option. The Daggers of Hunger sounded powerful, but he wasn't a melee fighter. He was an archer. Out of all those Arrow options, the explosive ones sounded the best. So he chose it. Why? Because explosions are just explosions. No questions asked. Leo grinned. Without further to do, he selected the Explosive Arrows option.

*DING!*

"HUMAN-Class: Archer has obtained 'Explosive Arrows' - Skill Received."

Leo couldn't wait to try out his new skill. He pulled out an arrow, to see how big the explosion would be. He aimed at a tree, and the arrow was released. In mid flight, he spoke the command words. "Explosion: Activate"

A second after the arrow made contact with the tree, Leo found himself looking at a tree burned from the leaves, branches trunk, and its roots. Leo gaped out the power the skill contained, and couldn't wait to try it out on monsters. Just then, as if his wish came true, a badger-Looking Animal emerged from a bush. Leo Identified it.

"Badger Guardian - Level 6"

Leo smiled. The badger obviously didn't know what mess he had gotten to. He pulled out an arrow, and nocked it. Leo had improved a lot over the days in archery, so at this point he barely needed to aim. He pointed the arrow at the badger, and he released. "Explosion: Activate" The arrow hit the badger's chest on the right hand side, missing the heart. But then, that changed. From the inside of his body, a massive explosion completely destroyed the badger, you can see the blood splattering across the grass. All that was left of the badger was its one lone limb and a pile of ashes.

*DING!*

"You have slain: Badger Guardian - Level 6"

Unfortunately for Leo, the blood all across the grass attracted a whole bunch of creatures nearby, due to their keen sense of smell. One badger appeared, no 2, and soon, 4 badgers and 2 Amber Foxes were circled around him. Based on what Leo saw, they weren't very powerful, but at these numbers, Leo knew he had to be cautious. Slowly he pulled out an arrow. He wanted to see how big the explosion would be, and how many monsters it could kill at once. He aimed at the center of the group, now glaring at him with narrow eyes. He released. "Explosion: Activate" A loud noise shook the area, and when all the smoke cleared, Leo saw that the only thing left was a pile of ashes.

That felt good.
