ARIA
I sniffed back my tears, kicking on the small stone pebble on the hard thick roads. The wind howling but it didn't the silence the hard pain which bled in my chest. The rain poured from the heavens, wetting the earth and me.
I couldn't believe this. I just lost my job and I didn't even know why.
This job was everything, the only way I could escape from the hell hole I called home, the darkness which threatened to consume me. The place where they didn't just torture me, they ruined me.
I sniffed once more, wiping my tears but it didn't stop the heaviness which filled my heart.
I shoved my hands into my denim jacket, searching for my phone. Then, after some seconds I brought it out, going to my contacts app as I looked for my boyfriend's contact.
I needed to talk to him, I needed to see him.
He was the only one who could cheer me up and right now, I needed him. I needed him so badly.
I dialed his line, the sound of the phone humming followed as I waited patiently for him to pick up but nothing… he didn't pick.
Swiping the water drops which covered my lashes, took in some air and dialed again but just like before, he didn't pick up.
" Where are you when I need you Cam!" I cried, the hoarseness of my voice mixing with the thickness of the rain.
I tried again but still, he didn't pick up.
Why isn't he picking up?
Was he that busy that he couldn't even just text me?
Shoving my phone back into my pocket and continued my walk down the quiet roads. The silence deafening.
Of course it was quiet, everyone probably was having dinner with their families while me? I'm having the worst day of my life and I can't even tell my boyfriend about it!
Going back home was something I dreaded with all my being.
Outside we may seem like the perfect family. Especially since Robert and Freda used me to gain popularity— everyone sees them as the gods of charity but inside the house? I'm nothing but a slave. A thing to vent their anger on. Don't get me started on their daughter Cassie.
She worse than a bitch.
But I can't hate them, they were the only ones who took me in when mum and dad died.
The rain pouring increased as though defending Aunt Freda and Uncle Robert.
I couldn't even hail a cab because I didn't have any cash left and my house was still very far from here. Although I was cold, I didn't want to go home.
Gathering some courage, I took in a breath and walked in the direction of my cursed house.
Soon I heard the sound of engines humming. A car sped down the road, sliding recklessly down the streets.
I quickened my pace, my worn out sneakers smashing against the puddles of water, the cold liquid splashing on my skin, wetting my socks and gawd do I hate wet socks!!
I thought I was fast, I thought I could probably save myself from this mess I was in but no, it was too late. The car closed in on me and I pressed my way lashes together, offering prayers to my creator.
I couldn't run anymore. It was a dead end.
This was probably my end.
I would just join my parents in eternity. I guess dying isn't as bad as it seems.
I clasped my palms together tightly.
As I braced for impact.
A cold wind slapped my skin and I heard sound of tires screeching.
The air was thick with the smell of hot rubber. I was alive?
I was alive!
I opened my eyes and the bright light of the cars headlights blinded me, causing my eyes to sting.
A man stepped down, his shoe first, his body second. His aura was like that of a King which demanded attention and I didn't know why, I felt drawn to him.
His eyes were hauntingly red at first then slowly turned back into a crisp brown.
Wait red!
No no no Ari, you're seeing things.
He approached me, an umbrella over his head, his cold eyes boring into me as he looked down at me— his long lashes bashing as he blinked.
" Are you okay?" His voice came. Low and thick. Very masculine in a way that scared me.
Slowly I nodded. " I'm sorry for almost crashing into you, I think someone tampered with my car." He explained and I just nodded, mesmerized by the beauty of his eyes and face.
I've never seen that shade of brown before…So dark yet so light at the same time. It seems to change colour in the moonlight.
" Here." He spoke and I blinked, breaking from my thoughts. His hands stretched out me as he handed me his black umbrella.
" Th-thank you." I stuttered and he walked back into his car and grabbed another one then walked to me.
" We can't use my car or else I would've dropped you off."
" I don't get into strangers vehicles!" I blatantly said and he nodded. " Okay then. I'll be on my way." He walked away and I slowly made my way to my house.

Minutes later, I arrived and the night was darker now and the rain had stopped. I reached the door way and dropped the umbrella in a bucket.
Then slowly, I reached for the door knob.
Why was I scared?
I don't know, I've done this a million times before.
I released a shaky breath and turned the knob to the side and slowly walked inside.
Go in, sneak into my room and shut the door.
It's simple.
I immediately snuck into the house, creeping through the large hallway. Then, I removed my feet from my moist sneakers and continued sneaking in when I saw something.
On the top half of our couch.
Cammy's Shirt.
What was he doing here? How come he didn't tell me he was coming?
Was he planning a surprise for me to cheer me up?
Aww.
I smiled shortly from the thought and continued my walk up the stairs, my eyes searching for him as I moved.
Then I reached the second floor and what welcomed me was Cammy's singlet. Okay, so he was waiting shirtlessly for me?
Right?
I assured myself with that thought but my heart came crumbling down when I saw it, right there in my bedroom.
Cassie was underneath Cameron moaning sinfully like a slut.
