In the past, it was considered nothing more than the substance of legends and fairy tales. A tool used to add an aspect of wonder to the common fantasy story. However, in modern times, it is just as real as the air we breathe. Now, an era where what was once considered supernatural is now reality.
November 2nd, 1952, would come to be considered one of, if not the, most important days in human history. It was the day when the course of humanity had been permanently altered. On that day, a historic event known as "The Great Awakening" occurred. No one truly knows how or why it happened, but the results of such an event were undeniable.
Suddenly and without warning, strange beasts started appearing all over the world. Creatures that could only be described as inhuman or monstrous in appearance. However, even stranger was that very few people could actually see them.
On that day, exceptional individuals began emerging from across the globe. Regardless of race, age, ethnicity, or nationality, men, women, and children began developing strange abilities. Abilities that some would consider fantastic, extraordinary, or even supernatural. The ability to breathe fire, manipulate light, or even control the very ground we walked on was no longer considered to be the stuff of legends and fictional heroes.
These awakened Individuals would later become officially classified as "homo-magai". But these days, everyone refers to them simply as "Sorcerers".
