Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Transmigrating to an Apocalypse World

I admit that after transmigrating, I wasn't expecting this shitty new life to be in the middle of a fucking zombie apocalypse.

What was it that bitch said to me before I transmigrated to another world while rebuilding my body? Oh yeah, she said I'd enjoy my new life.

Dozens of zombies were chasing me. There were more than 30. I didn't know the exact number, sorry if you wanted to know precisely how many, but those fucking zombies were almost catching up to me, and I didn't have time to count.

"Grrrrrahhhhhh!"

"Grrrrahhhh!"

"Grrrahhhhhh!"

'Fuck that bitch, fuck everything!' When my coat was grabbed, I somehow managed to keep running while my coat was taken by the zombie.

'My new life barely started, and I'm going to die again, and on top of that, devoured by zombies?'

I was currently running down the commercial street. All the stores were closed; there was nowhere to hide.

Of course they'd be closed. What did I expect? If they were open, it wouldn't be a good sign either, meaning there'd probably be zombies inside.

Look at that, an open cell phone store and… Well, the front had a large transparent glass window, and I saw at least two zombies inside. If there were more, I didn't know.

'Damn it, if this keeps up, soon there'll be a thousand zombies wanting a piece of me… I've always wanted to be desired, but never like this!' I thought when I saw the two zombies coming out of the cell phone store, running toward me.

'Am I really going to be devoured by zombies?' I thought while running straight ahead, not wanting to be caught by the zombies from the cell phone store.

At that moment, I wished I had four legs to run faster.

I saw a tree, but could zombies climb trees?

I wouldn't risk it, especially with them running so fast.

I spotted a car wash.

The wall wasn't high, and the area was empty.

But would I be able to jump that wall in time to avoid being caught by the zombies? And if I did, what if the zombies could jump it too?

If that happened, I'd be in some kind of arena surrounded by zombies. All that was missing was an audience to cheer and bet on the winner.

Obviously, everyone would bet on the zombies; even I would want to do the same.

Suddenly, I heard a loud noise.

It was the explosive sound of a motorcycle.

I always hated the sound of motorcycles, especially the more powerful ones, but at that moment, I only hoped that with such a loud noise, it would attract those damn zombies chasing me. However, the sound came from ahead of me, and then I saw a red flash coming in my direction.

When I blinked my eyes while running for my life, the red motorcycle with a silver-white-haired woman driving was already very close to me.

And then, one of the most incredible scenes happened since I transmigrated to this world.

The woman on the motorcycle passed by me and then did a wheelie, creating ice from her hand, forming a two-meter ice wall.

It all happened so fast I almost tripped.

I looked at her, stunned.

She had beautiful silver-white hair, blue eyes, smoky makeup, black lipstick, and a lollipop in her mouth. She pulled the heart-shaped lollipop out of her mouth and pointed it at me: "Hey, asshole, get on now, or I'll leave you here to be eaten by the zombies."

I snapped out of my daze, still stunned, and quickly climbed onto the back of her bike.

"Hold on tight," she said in a commanding tone.

I should've taken her advice more seriously.

The moment she accelerated, the bike reared up, and I almost fell off, grabbing her waist tightly with my hands.

"You son of a bitch, if you grip my waist any tighter, I'll kill you!" she growled, full of anger.

Fearing she'd throw me off the bike, I loosened my grip while tightening my thighs to gain some sense of security.

My heart was racing every second. I saw her dodging zombies in the way while riding the motorcycle at over 200 kilometers per hour.

My face went pale when I saw her heading toward a ramp.

'She's not going to jump, right?' I wanted to lie to myself, but deep down, I knew. She was going to jump.

She accelerated the bike even more, making explosive sounds, then started climbing the three-meter-high, steeply inclined ramp, and then, we flew.

I didn't scream.

I didn't scream because I wasn't afraid—actually, the knot in my stomach was so intense I thought I'd pass out.

When I came to my senses, I was about to scream, but her kind words shut me up.

"If you scream, you're dead."

See, gentle, right?

I forced myself not to scream while my heart was racing a thousand miles an hour. An incredibly uncomfortable chill ran through my stomach; the feeling of safety was nowhere to be found. Everything in me said I was going to die again.

But then I saw it—a sky so blue, with an orange mountain of sunlight reflecting. It was such a beautiful scene that, for a moment, I forgot I was jumping on the back of a motorcycle.

When I came to my senses again, I saw we were falling toward the sea… or more precisely, toward a cruise ship.

I saw several people on that ship; there must've been at least a thousand people.

*DUM!*

*SCREECH!*

The motorcycle's wheels were still spinning as it descended toward the ship's bow.

When the front wheel touched the ground, she must've done something that made the bike slide on one wheel until, finally, the second wheel hit the ground. Then she made the bike slide sideways across the bow, losing speed until it stopped a few centimeters from the glass.

I was never into extreme sports, and this was the most extreme thing I'd ever experienced. Even when I died, it wasn't anything memorable. It was one of those cliché scenes where a truck driver falls asleep at the wheel, and I was the unlucky bastard who got hit.

"Hey, asshole, I'm talking to you!"

I groaned when I got an elbow to the waist.

"Yes?" I asked in a weird voice.

"Get off my bike, damn it!" she shouted.

Embarrassed, I got off.

My legs were shaky, either from her elbow, which hurt more than I expected, or because I still hadn't gotten over jumping on the back of a motorcycle and landing on a ship.

"Violet, welcome back~"

I looked toward the voice and saw a beautiful woman with black hair, light blue eyes, smoky makeup, and black lipstick.

She looked a bit like the woman who saved me. Except this one had much bigger breasts. Each one was bigger than her own head.

'Incredible,' I thought.

By the way, my savior's name is Violet? And I forgot to thank her.

Taking the lollipop out of her mouth, Violet smiled: "Mia, I'm back."

"Violet, right?" When I got her attention, her smile turned to indifference.

"What is it?" she asked coldly.

"I just wanted to thank you for saving me," I said. "Thank you."

"If you really want to thank me, be useful," she said, ignoring me right after.

"Don't worry about her." Someone touched my shoulder. It was a man, no older than 30, dark-skinned with a well-groomed beard. "Violet's like that, but she's got a good heart."

He added, "By the way, I'm Max. The mechanic responsible for keeping this beauty running."

He looked at Violet's motorcycle.

"Of course, Violet's bike isn't the only one I take care of; there are plenty of others, along with cars and such," he said. "By the way, what's your name? Are you good at anything? Have you awakened any abilities? If so, what are they?"

"Max, I've told you to ask one question at a time. Look how you've confused the kid," a woman said as she approached.

She had long, curly hair, green eyes, dark skin, and an incredible body full of curves. She extended her hand toward me: "Hi, I'm Linda. Wife of this loudmouth."

"Nice to meet you, I'm Theo. Theo Dimas," I replied.

As I was about to shake her hand, Max lowered my hand.

"Don't touch my wife, got it?" Max said in a warning tone.

"Here you go again with your excessive jealousy, cousin," another person said as they approached me.

It was a guy. He was about two meters tall—I know because I'm 1.99 meters, and he seemed to be my height or slightly taller, maybe 5 cm taller at most. And despite being so tall, he had incredible muscles. Like Max, he had darker skin.

"Don't mind him, Theo. Max is jealous of his own shadow. And I'm not even kidding," the big, strong guy said, laughing as if recalling something.

I assumed he saw Max fighting his own shadow.

"Hey, you're laughing at me." Max tightened his grip on my shoulder.

"Max, leave the kid alone," his wife, Linda, intervened.

"Tsk." Clicking his tongue, Max let go of me.

'This guy's not right in the head; I need to stay away from him,' I thought.

"Hey, big guy, I'm Jordan, cousin of this idiot over there." Jordan, the big, strong man, extended his hand toward me: "Welcome aboard."

I checked to see if any jealous woman was going to pop up and shook his hand. I said, "Thanks," and then let go of his hand.

Now, I started thinking about the questions Max asked. Some piqued my interest, like the one about abilities. From what I saw, what Violet did wasn't something done through scientific means but rather some kind of power.

'Are there powers in this world?' I thought. 'If there are, will I be able to awaken one?'

"Hey, whitey, I'm talking to you!"

I looked at Max and said, "Sorry, I was distracted. What did you say?"

"Damn, you don't have something wrong with your head, do you?" He gestured with his finger pointed at his own head and asked, "Anyway, what can you do? What are you good at? And have you awakened an ability?"

"What am I good at?" I thought about it and couldn't come up with anything worth mentioning besides knowing how to cook a little: "I can cook a bit, and no, I haven't awakened an ability."

I didn't even know how to awaken an ability. I had barely arrived in this world and already had to run from zombies—when would I have had time to figure that out?

Of course, I wasn't going to say that out loud.

"Tsk, another useless one. We already have hundreds who can cook here, and from what you said, you're probably not even that good at it," he sneered.

I furrowed my brow. This guy was starting to piss me off.

He came off all friendly at first, but suddenly, he turned into a complete jerk and even started belittling me.

If I weren't surrounded by people I didn't know, I'd want to punch this idiot in the face.

"How do you awaken an ability? Can you tell me?" I asked.

Jordan was the one who answered my question: "Awakening an ability is simple but hard. Zombies have small cores in their brains that shine like diamonds. Swallowing a core can awaken an ability, but it's rare, and the chances of finding one are slim too. The odds are 1 in 50 zombies."

"Don't get too excited. The chance of awakening an ability is also 1 in 50. We have 2,133 people on this ship, but only 62 have managed to awaken an ability. And not all awakened abilities are useful," Max said. He seemed frustrated.

'I bet he hasn't awakened an ability, or he did, but it's not useful,' I thought.
