*knock knock knock* "Wake up Clark your gonna be late for school". Clark rolls out of bed and checks the time... "Crap she's right I am gonna be late for school". He hurries to the bathroom. Takes the quickest shower he can. Goes down grabs the breakfast his mom cooked and rushes out the door. Where he meets Sarah. His childhood best friend since 3rd grade and now his girlfriend.
Sarah "I can't believe you would actually be late on awakening day". Clark "My alarm didn't go off it isn't my fault". Sarah "You always have an excuse don't you". Clark *blank face* "...Anyways I wonder what ability I'll awaken. My parents are really strong S rank adventurers. I should awaken something good". Sarah "Yeah you should. They say your abilities strength and rank is dependent on your parents. Since your parents are S rank adventurers you should awaken a powerful one." Clark "I wish you could awaken too. Your parents shouldn't have backed out on their awakening." Sarah stands there with disappointment on her face.
The way abilities work is that they are in the genes. If a person or couple decide to not awaken. Then their children can't or has a lesser chance to awaken an ability. The gene stays dormant if not awakened and stays permanently if not awaken by the age of 20. If both parents are unawakened it has a low chance of being passed on roughly 1/1000000. If only 1 parent is awakened then the chance is 50/50 of the awakening gene to be passed on. So most of the time kids with 2 unawakened parent don't even try.
They walked and talked a bit more. Finally they reach the school. Luckily even though Clark was taking his time they were on time for the ceremony. They stood around in the auditorium with a bunch of other students waiting. Finally the principle spoke "Students may I have your attention. The awakening ceremony will begin shortly. Everyone that's going through awakening should've gotten a number. Your number will be displayed on one of these booths. You'll have five minutes to get to the booth. If you don't get there in five minutes it will go to the next number so pay attention. That is all let the ceremony begin". Clark had number 126 out of 189. So he got pretty unlucky.
So Sarah and Clark are standing there looking out for Clark's number watching all the colors. The way the booths work is that it doesn't show the ability you got. That stays private but it does show a color based on the abilities grade. Awakeners are required to share the grade of their ability but the ability itself can remain a mystery. The colors in order are red is can't awaken, white is common, Green is uncommon, Blue is rare, Purple is epic, yellow is legendary, and rainbow is mythical.
Meanwhile the teachers are talking. "we aren't getting any good abilities this year. If this keeps up we are gonna lose are spot in the school rankings". Most of the lights are white so far with a couple greens every now and then. Then some reds from the students with unawakend parents. Suddenly a purple light comes from 2 of the pods. Everyone looks and its a set of twins. The Moorth twins. They are the children of well known A rank adventurers. So it isn't surprising. The teachers faces lit up "Finally, we have some good talent".The twins come down getting praise from the teachers and other students.
Sarah and Clark are standing there watching the numbers and chatting. Finally it gets close to Clark's number. Then there's another purple light. It came from a kid with only 1 awakened parent. Everyone was shocked because even if they were to get lucky to get the gene the skill is usually low tier. While everyone is praising the new epic skill it was Clark's turn. He goes up to the booth and puts his hand on the podium in the booth. Then the booth says" Starting awakening sequence… awakening." Then a blinding rainbow light erupts from his booth. Everyone goes silent. Then Clark hears "congratulations you have awoken the mythical ability First Immortal Cultivators Chosen Descendant"
