When Lucian opened his eyes, he found himself in a familiar room.
The curtains was pulled aside just like he left it, allowing the rays of light to Illuminate the room. As everything became clear, he realized he was in his personal room.
Just then the scenes of the previous night began to play in his head as he tried to remember what happened.
The last thing he remembered was placing his hands on the floating orb before everything went black.
He forced himself trying to remember the results of his awakening but that only increased the pain in his head so he gave up in the end.
He lay down on the bed staring at the blank ceiling when he head a knock on his door.
A few seconds later, the door knob turned and a beautiful young lady still in her night gown that revealed the forming shape of her body entered before closing it behind her quietly. She tiptoed towards the bed in caution not to wake the younger boy.
"Good morning to you too, Can you just walk" Lucian said without turning his head, almost making the younger lady jump out in fright.
"I see you have also learned how to scare people too.Tsk" the young lady winced before going to sit beside the younger boy on the bed.
Lucian slowly turned to look at Mailie with look a look that almost made the beautiful lady's heart break.
"What happened" Lucian asked
"Uhh…What do you mean?" The young lady replied, pretending to be lost.
"At the awakening ceremony yesterday, what happened to me" Lucian asked again before adding
"I failed right"
He asked. Mailie looked at her little brother vaguely, struggling to find the right words to answer his question.
"I knew it!" Lucian said, burying his head into one of the pillows.
"He-Hey, don't say that. You didn't fail. There was just a little misunderstanding and then you went unconscious. It's nothing big. It happens" She tried to comfort her brother, painting the situation
"Besides, grandpa and the others are working to fix it so you don't have anything to worry about" she added hugging the younger boy from behind.
"Was it the same thing that happened to others after me" He asked. Mailie's mind raced to find the right answer to the boy's question but she couldn't. Everything else went smooth after the incident, although she left the scene with his family, that was what she heard.
"See. I'm just unlucky" He added. Mailie was about to counter his claims when he spoke again.
"Can you leave me alone" Lucian asked without raising his head.
"Uhh…okay. But I'll comeback to check on you" she said without receiving a response. She made her way to the door and went out just as she came.
Lucian turned over on the bed with his eyes set on the ceiling above him. A few seconds later, dripples of tears began to flow.
"I failed"
"I failed grandpa, I failed mom Anna, I failed uncle Micheal, I failed everyone" Lucian blamed himself as the sounds of his cries reverberated in the room
"I have never been good. I can never be good. A half-elf who was thrown away by his own family. I'm just unlucky"
"I can't ever enter Atlantis! I can't join Guilds nor be able to travel the world" Lucian threw the words out at himself as he began to cry like a baby.
"The curse of me being a half-elf is now confirmed. I'm just bad" the boy continued crying.
"This is how my life is going to be for the rest of my life. Just a peasant countryside half elf with a name" He added, hitting and cursing himself.
Just then as if carried my the wind, he heard a soft laugh behind his window making him turn sharply. His room was on the last floor of the Veyrath castle where nobody could reach by normal means, which meant that he had just imagined it or just a normal laugh carried on by the wind.
Just as he was about to brush it aside, he heard to the same sound three consecutive times, convincing him that there was somebody at the window.
He got up immediately and approached the window slowly and cautiously. He opened the window, checked around slowly and carefully yet found no one.
Just as he turned around, he came face to face with a handsome teenager with a short dark-blue hair and piercing red eyes.
He was one of the most handsome people he has ever seen, making him think handsome was an understatement.
"Do you believe in miracles?"
The teenage boy asked him with his hands clasped behind his back.
Although his first time meeting the young man, Lucian found his presence quiet familiar.
He tried to remember if he has met him anywhere but nothing came. But then reality hit him to do the needful because the latter had entered his room without any permission.
"Who are you and what do you want" Lucian asked.
"Do you believe in miracles?" The blue haired teenager asked Lucian once again, staring straight into his eyes.
