Chapter 18 - Can I Come And Visit Sometimes??

Lucian made his way to his grandfather's personal study room, located inside the castle.

When he reached the entrance, he knocked and waited a few minutes till he heard the old man's voice prompting him to come in.

He went inside and sat in the chair across the table.

The old man had his eyes on a couple of papers on his table and Lucian sat silently, waiting for him to finish. A few minutes later, he turned his attention to the younger boy.

"How are you" The old man asked.

"I'm fine" Lucian replied.

"I mean, how are you" he repeated with emphasis.

"Im fine gramps" he replied.

The old stared at him for a few minutes as if looking through his soul making the boy feel uncomfortable.

"I know what you've been through these past few days. I'm sorry about that but you have to know everything that happens to you forms part of your journey of life." He said putting down his pen.

"But Setbacks are not meant to take you back. It happens to allow take a leap of step. Look at every setback as an advantage rather than a disadvantage" added and the boy remained quite, listening to him.

"I know how much you want to join the Alliance academy and become a hunter like everyone else. It's not over yet. You can still pursue that. your dream is still valid and has a chance"

"How" Lucian asked, although he had a hunch what the old man was hinting at.

"I've sent letters to three of my old pals. You'll undertake a personal training outside of the kingdom for the next two years under their supervision."

"Outside of the kingdom? Where?" Lucian asked.

"Nowhere" He replied and Lucian settled for that reply knowing well it'll be futile to pry further.

"Can I come and visit sometimes?" The boy asked

"Yes you can. After two years"

The boy facepalmed. He decided not to push it again because whenever his grandfather set his mind on something, nobody could change it.

"After the two years, you'll travel to the capital to join the martial art unit of the Alliance academy" His grandfather added and Lucian nodded in understanding.

As if by coincidence, Eroye had suggested a similar thing to him and after thinking about it, he had decided to inform his grandfather later.

"Okay gramps." Lucian replied.

"You'll leave with Zareel in three days so you can go and start preparing" Aaron added. The boy thanked him and stood up about to leave.

"Did something happen to you? You know you can tell me." Aaron asked stopping the boy in his tracks

"Uhh..no gramps" Lucian replied with a perfect face but the older man knew he was lying. He was a saint and could tell if anybody was lying or telling the truth as long as they were below his rank. But he still nodded and allowed the boy to leave

Lucian on the other hand left the room with full guilt. He wished he could tell his grandfather the help he received but he couldn't. It was againts divine rules.

That was what the God of Games told him. All he could do was at least, represent Eroye with a different figure but he has remained in the castle since the night of solstice and coming up with such a story was impossible.

He decided to focus on his preparation for the step ahead for now.
