Chapter 19 - Those Who Were Blessed And Cursed By The Heavens

Three days passed swiftly as Lucian tried to make the best of memories with his family before he left to begin his training. He helped in the Kitchen, ran errands and most of all helped his aunty in her alchemy shop.

It wouldn't be an exaggeration to say Anna was, if not the best, then one of the best Achelmist in the Heldin Kingdom which made her shop full almost everyday with buyers who travel long distances to buy her products and because of that, she was always grateful for a helping hand.

Lucian was getting ready to set off on his journey with Zareel when he heard a knock on the door. Since he was almost done dressing up he answered for the person to come in. A few seconds later, Aaron entered and closed the door behind him. "I see you're almost done" he said with a smile and Lucian returned it.

"Yes gramps" the boy replied.

Aaron went closer to the boy and crouched down to march his height.

"I love you more than any body would love a grandson and will only want the best for you. I hope you understand why I'm doing this right?" Aaron said in a calm voice. Although calm, if you listen closely, you'd sense the linger of emotions in them.

"Yes grandpa, I know you only want the best for me" Lucian replied.

"Good. Just as smart as me" He added with a smile, patting the boy's shoulder.

The old man took out a black ring from his pocket and handed it to the ten year old. "Take this storage ring. Everything you'll need for the next six months is inside it. I hope after six months, you'll be able to fend for yourself"

"Thanks gramps" Lucian said.

The old man took out another thing from his pocket, this time a dagger.

"This is VoidPiercer. It's a family heirloom. It's your time to take possession of it so make sure you keep it safe. It'll accompany anywhere you go" Aaron said.

Lucian took the dagger and inspected it.

Just then, a series of text appeared in front of him, almost making his eyes widen in shock. But since he was in Aaron's presence, he decided to keep it cool and appraise the dagger later.

A few minutes later, he went down stairs with his grandfather to where the family were waiting to bid him goodbye. He went over to hug his aunt Anna and his uncle who had returned the previous night also joined in the group hug. Anna kissed both his cheeks and forehead with teary eyes.

"I can't believe my little baby is grown now" Anna said.

"Come on aunt Anna, I'm not even going to Atlantis and you're crying?" Lucian said.

"Big people don't cry remember" he added with a smile making Anna smile despite her teary look.

Micheal patted the little boy he has raised as his own son with a smile. Although he didn't support this early training his father had decided to put the boy through, he also understood the man's action.

The name Veyrath was not a common name. They were one of the five most powerful families that ruled the Heldin kingdom and that didn't only come with honor, it came with dangers as well. Although they were just a branch family, the fact still remained that they were Veyraths. They had many enemies and he understood the old man was just trying to protect the boy from being exploited in the future or being targeted as his weakness.

"I don't know how this training of yours is going to be, but don't overdo yourself. Take breaks when you can't go anymore and always prioritize your safety above everything" Micheal said and hugged the boy.

"Come home when you miss your family" Micheal told the boy in a low tone that nobody could hear.

"I wouldn't advice you to listen to that" Aaron said and the entire gathering broke into a laugh.

"Take care of yourself. We love you" Micheal and Anna both kissed the boy's head and hugged him one last time.

He went over to hug the head maid who has also played a role as his mother over the years.

Lucian walked over to his grandfather and fist bumped him for the last time.

"I hope the next time I see you, you'll be a man" Aaron said with a smile

"You can bet on that gramps" Lucian replied making the old man smile. He has never regretted the day he decided to take matters into his own hands and raise the boy by himself and he had a feeling he would have rather regretted if he didn't make that decision.

Just then, a black haired young man walked in and gave a low bow of respect to all the people in the room.

"I'm ready to go my lord" Zareel said and Aaron nodded. When they steped outside the castle, a black Wyvern with gold colors around its eyes stood out waiting for them.

Lucian appraised the large beast in curiosity. It looked a little like the one his grandfather rode except for the golden colors and it was a bit smaller than Aaron's. Zareel climbed the back of the Wyvern and helped Lucian clim and sit behind him.

Lucian waved at the family one last time and Zareel gave Aaron a nod of acknowledgment. The black Wyvern screeched to announce it's authority before taking off into the sky.
