Inside the heavily armored helicopter hovering miles away, several scientists in white lab coats were frantically typing on their terminals, recording the incredibly precious telemetry data they had just gathered.
This data was the absolute key to developing a weapon capable of neutralizing the White Demon. It could not be lost under any circumstances!
The lead researcher established a secure comms link. It was answered almost immediately by a raspy, impatient voice.
"Report."
The researcher's voice trembled with poorly concealed excitement.
"Colonel Stryker! It was a success! The experimental mutant inhibitor is effective against the White Demon! Although the current prototype only suppressed his abilities for a few minutes, with enough time and funding to refine the technology, we can exponentially increase that duration! If we deploy a finalized version, he will be reduced to an ordinary, powerless human for hours!"
"Excellent! Excellent!" Hearing this, William Stryker was ecstatic. Even his perpetually grim face stretched into a rigid, terrifying smile.
"It seems the nuclear protocol won't be necessary after all. To deal with the White Demon, this inhibitor will be more than enough! Transmit the raw data to the secure server immediately. We are officially entering the mass production phase for the White Demon Inhibitors!"
"Yes, sir..."
But suddenly, Stryker heard chaotic, panicked screaming erupting in the background of the comms link.
"What's happening?!" Stryker demanded.
The researcher's voice returned, now cracking with absolute, paralyzing terror.
"Hurry! Turn the inhibitor back on! Give us time to escape! Colonel Stryker... the White Demon... he's coming straight for us!"
"What?!"
Stryker's face twisted in sheer disbelief. How is that mathematically possible?!
The White Demon had spotted a stealth helicopter from ten kilometers away?!
What did that imply? It meant the White Demon's sensory perception was infinitely more terrifying than their worst-case scenario models! It meant the nuclear protocol they had debated the other day was already a completely dead strategy!
With the White Demon's raw speed and his ability to perceive threats from dozens of kilometers away, he could effortlessly casually stroll out of a nuclear blast radius before the missile even detonated! Nuclear weapons were officially completely obsolete against him!
Damn it! When did he awaken hyper-sensory perception?! Does this monster have absolutely no limits?!
"Don't panic. Just focus on transmitting the data," Stryker ordered coldly, masking his shock. "You have the inhibitor prototype. Just turn it on and use the window to escape."
Stryker's primary concern was securing the telemetry data. The moment that file finished uploading, the lives of those researchers became entirely expendable to him. But from a tactical standpoint, he genuinely believed that as long as they had the device to turn off the boy's powers, they could easily fly away.
However, a despairing scream instantly shattered his logic.
"He stopped! He stopped exactly five kilometers away! The current version of the inhibitor doesn't have the range to reach him from here!" The researcher began sobbing. "No... no! He's pointing at us! It's the red singularity! AHHHH—"
The comms link cut to violent static.
Stryker sat in absolute silence.
So, the White Demon realized the inhibitor was the cause of his power loss, and purposefully stayed out of its effective range to snipe them with that red singularity. That means he will be on his guard against the device in the future.
But a dark, twisted smile slowly spread across Stryker's face as he looked at his monitor.
File Transfer Complete.
It doesn't matter if he's cautious. This confirms my ultimate theory: the White Demon IS vulnerable to the inhibitor! As long as we successfully spring the trap and shut off his powers, the invincible God of Mutants is nothing but a frail boy!
...
Having chain-cast Cursed Technique Lapse: Blue to rapidly teleport across the sky, Su Mu quickly brought the fleeing helicopter back into his visual range.
However, he intentionally didn't close the gap.
Through the absolute, atomic-level perception of the Six Eyes, he had already deduced that the helicopter was carrying the exact same type of inhibitor device the Prowler had used.
When the sonic pulse had first scrambled his energy, the Six Eyes had meticulously recorded and analyzed the exact physiological disruption it caused to his cursed energy flow. Now, if they tried to suppress him again, he could simply recalibrate his internal energy circulation in a microsecond and instantly completely bypass the inhibition!
He was entirely immune to the trick now.
But despite this, Su Mu deliberately halted his pursuit exactly five kilometers away—the exact maximum effective range of the inhibitor he had calculated via the Six Eyes.
Why show them I've already adapted? Su Mu thought, a diabolical, deeply arrogant smirk playing on his lips. I'll deliberately feed them a fake weakness. Let them spend billions developing their little toys, plotting their grand master plan, only for me to shatter their reality when they finally try to use it. The look of absolute despair on their faces... will be highly entertaining!
Hovering effortlessly in the sky, Su Mu raised his right hand, pressing his index and middle fingers together, and pointed them directly at the distant helicopter.
Positive cursed energy surged violently. A terrifying, hyper-condensed black-red singularity rapidly expanded at his fingertips.
With a slight flick of his fingers, the apocalyptic singularity was unleashed. It streaked across the sky, forming a blinding, continuous beam of pure, annihilating red light!
"Cursed Technique Reversal: Red."
The terrifying red beam tore the heavens apart, leaving a bizarre, crimson meteor trail across the night sky. A fraction of a second later, the deafening sonic boom of the displaced atmosphere washed over the entirety of New York City like a thunderclap!
Millions of citizens simultaneously looked up at the sky. They watched in awe and terror as the beautiful, apocalyptic crimson meteor carried absolute death straight toward a tiny, helpless helicopter.
BOOM!
Under the watchful eyes of the entire city, the military helicopter was instantly vaporized by the crimson beam, reduced to an insignificant spark in the night sky.
Yet, the red meteor didn't stop. It pierced through the clouds, entirely ignoring atmospheric friction, and slammed violently into the uninhabited wilderness far outside the city limits, kicking up a tsunami of earth and dust!
When the dust finally settled, a massive, perfectly spherical crater had been carved into the landscape.
"It's the White Demon! The White Demon is attacking!"
The citizens instantly recognized the signature red light that had dominated the news feeds. The entire city was instantly plunged into absolute mass panic!
"He can fly now?! Does a Level 5 mutant truly have no limits?!"
"He's getting even stronger!"
"Where the hell is the government?! Where is the military?! Didn't they say they had a foolproof plan to deal with him?!"
...
In an abandoned, spacious warehouse on the outskirts of New York, a group of teenage mutant runaways had a perfect view of the crimson meteor and the white-haired figure hovering like a god in the sky.
Polaris stood by the shattered window, staring blankly at the scene. Her mind violently flashed back to her personal encounter with the White Demon in that dark alleyway.
She remembered those chilling, bottomless azure eyes that radiated an absolute, suffocating pressure. Even though her magnetic manipulation made her an elite powerhouse among mutants, standing before the White Demon, she was entirely incapable of fighting back.
But more than his power, it was his ruthless, indifferent words that were branded into her soul. It was then she realized a fundamental truth: if mutants wanted to rise up, they couldn't rely on a savior. They had to rely on themselves.
Beside her, her mutant companions were cheering in sheer awe.
"Look! That's the White Demon's power!"
"Whoa, that's so cool! He really is the strongest mutant alive!"
"We have to train harder! When the war against the humans finally begins, we can fight alongside the great White Demon! Under his leadership, mutants will finally be free!"
Polaris opened her mouth to speak, but the words died in her throat. She didn't know how to break their naive, hopeful illusions.
She didn't know how to tell them the cruel reality: before the White Demon, it didn't matter if they were mutants or humans.
To him, they were all equally insignificant insects!
That man... he stands in the heavens, looking down upon absolutely everything!
Meanwhile, hovering casually in the void high above the city, the heavenly chime of the System rang in Su Mu's mind.
