Just as the tension from the smashed mug began to settle, a heavyset, middle-aged man leaning against the diner counter spoke to his buddy in a hushed, excited tone.

"Man, you missed a hell of a show. They say some kind of satellite crashed out in the desert. We were having a blast trying to lift it until those feds in the black suits showed up..."

Jane Foster instantly leaned over, her scientific curiosity piqued. "Excuse me. Did you say a satellite crashed in the desert?"

"Yup," the heavyset man nodded.

Across the table, Dr. Erik Selvig also looked intrigued. "What did this 'satellite' look like?"

The man shrugged. "I don't know much about satellites, but I do know it's heavy as hell. Absolutely nobody could lift it!"

Hearing those exact words, Thor shot up from the booth. He marched over to the heavyset man, grabbing him forcefully by the shoulder. "Where is it?!"

The man, startled by Thor's sheer size and complete lack of manners, stammered out the directions. "F-fifty miles west of here..."

As Thor immediately turned and marched toward the door, the man called out helpfully, "I wouldn't waste your time, buddy! The military has already locked the whole area down!"

Thor completely ignored him, striding out of the diner with absolute purpose.

Jane, Darcy, and Erik exchanged worried glances before hurriedly getting up to follow him, leaving Su Mu sitting alone in the booth.

Su Mu didn't rush to follow them. Instead, he casually ordered a slice of pie and took his time eating it.

When he finally strolled out of the diner, he caught the exact moment Jane pulled her van up next to Thor, who had been trying to buy a horse from a pet store.

"You need a ride?" Jane asked through the passenger window.

Just as Thor climbed into the passenger seat, a familiar, smooth, magnetic voice drifted into the van.

"Mind if I catch a ride too?"

Jane and Thor looked out the window. The white-haired young man from the diner was lightly tapping on the glass, offering them a brilliant, charming smile.

"Uh... sure," Jane hesitated. "But we're heading toward a heavily restricted military quarantine zone. It could be extremely dangerous. Are you sure you want to come?"

"Absolutely!" Su Mu replied, his smile taking on a mysterious, amused edge. "I finally got to meet the legendary Thor in the flesh. I wouldn't dream of leaving the party this early."

As they drove out into the desert, Jane gripped the steering wheel tightly, glancing at Thor. "I've never done anything like this before. Have you?"

Thor smiled, an arrogant, nostalgic look in his eyes. "Many times."

Before he could elaborate on his glorious battles, a voice chimed in from the back seat.

"Oh yeah, same here. Done this plenty of times. It's really no big deal," Su Mu agreed cheerfully.

Thor turned around, looking at Su Mu with genuine curiosity. "Oh? And what exactly have you done, Su Mu?"

"Well, I completely annihilated a major criminal syndicate's headquarters all by myself. I casually strolled away from a massive military strike team and a squad of brainwashed mutant hounds. I tore a giant mechanical mech in half, and I beat two indestructible green monsters into the pavement!

"Oh, and just recently, I had a little standoff with the X-Men in the middle of New York that almost ended with the entire city being wiped off the map!"

Thor listened with wide eyes, genuinely impressed. He hadn't expected this seemingly frail mortal's life to be so action-packed! But then he remembered what Jane had explained earlier. Ah. He is "cosplaying" the White Demon. These must be the legendary deeds of the character he is imitating!

Jane chuckled from the driver's seat.

"You two are hilarious. One of you genuinely believes he's the White Demon, and the other genuinely believes he's the God of Thunder..."

Before she could finish, Thor interrupted her, his tone deadly serious.

"I am the God of Thunder. I don't 'believe' I am. Once I reclaim my power, you will understand everything."

Seeing the absolute, unwavering conviction on Thor's face, Jane recalled their very first meeting—when he literally fell out of the sky into the path of her van. If he truly was the God of Thunder, banished to Earth and stripped of his power by Odin... then all the bizarre, impossible events of the past few days suddenly made perfect, terrifying sense!

But just as Jane felt herself beginning to believe Thor's impossible story, the white-haired boy in the back seat nodded emphatically.

"Exactly, exactly! I completely believe Thor is the God of Thunder. And by that exact same logic, I am the White Demon. You have to believe us, Jane!"

Jane, who had almost been convinced by Thor's earnestness, instantly shook her head, bringing herself back to reality.

I must be losing my mind to be driving these two lunatics out into the desert... "Whatever," Jane sighed. "They stole my life's work. I'm getting it all back."

Hearing the resolve in the mortal woman's voice, Thor smiled confidently. "Do not worry, Jane. Once I take hold of Mjolnir, I will make them return everything they stole from you."

Su Mu nodded deeply from the back seat. "He's right. Once we get in there, we'll make them cough up every last piece of equipment."

Jane just offered a tight, polite smile.

Clearly, she didn't believe a single word either of them said.

...

Parking the van a safe distance away, the trio hiked up a steep ridge overlooking the makeshift military compound.

Night had fallen completely. The desert was pitch black, save for the glaring floodlights illuminating the SHIELD perimeter below.

After a brief observation, Thor chivalrously handed his jacket to Jane to keep her warm against the desert chill. He immediately prepared to charge down the hill, but Jane grabbed his arm, her expression incredibly tense.

"Are you crazy? You think you're just going to waltz in there, grab our stuff, and walk out?!"

Thor smiled with absolute, unshakeable confidence.

"No. I'm going to fly out."

Without giving Jane a chance to argue, Thor turned and sprinted down the ridge, plunging directly into the heavily guarded SHIELD compound.

RUMBLE!

A sudden, deafening crack of thunder echoed across the desert. A brilliant flash of lightning illuminated the sky, violently lighting up the world. Bathed in the torrential rain and the flashes of lightning, Thor effortlessly dismantled the highly trained SHIELD agents in brutal hand-to-hand combat, finally displaying a sliver of the true majesty of a God!

Watching Thor brawl his way toward the center of the crater, Jane was sick with worry.

Suddenly, a smooth, deeply magnetic, and entirely unserious voice drifted into her ear.

"Don't worry. Even if Thor can't actually get his god powers back, you still have me. I'll handle everything."

The worried expression on Jane's face instantly froze.

Given all the bizarre clues and Thor's inhuman fighting skills down below, she was starting to genuinely entertain the fantasy that he might actually be the God of Thunder. But regarding Su Mu being the White Demon? She absolutely, fundamentally did not believe it for a single second!

It wasn't just the fact that the White Demon was supposed to be terrorizing New York right now. It was entirely because the White Demon in her mind absolutely did not act like this incredibly lazy, unserious, constantly joking playboy!

As the most powerful Level 5 mutant on the planet—a literal god of destruction capable of leveling cities in minutes—the White Demon portrayed in the news was an arrogant, cold-blooded, merciless killer. He absolutely could not be this cheerful, goofy idiot!

Down in the crater, under their watchful eyes, Thor finally dispatched the last agent. He stepped up to the pedestal, looking down at Mjolnir. With absolute, unwavering faith, he grabbed the handle with one hand and pulled.

Nothing happened.

He gripped it with both hands, straining his massive muscles.

Still nothing.

After several desperate, agonizing attempts, pulling with every single ounce of his superhuman strength, Mjolnir refused to budge a single millimeter.

Thor's absolute faith shattered. He fell to his knees in the mud, throwing his head back and unleashing a roar of absolute, soul-crushing despair into the stormy sky.

Seeing Thor collapse, defeated and surrounded by recovering SHIELD agents, Jane immediately turned around and started power-walking toward the van. She needed to get back to town, find Dr. Selvig, and figure out a way to bail Thor out of federal custody.

But suddenly, a tall, slender figure with stark white hair blocked her path.

Even now, that same lazy, unserious smile was plastered across his face. "Didn't I just say? You still have me."

Jane had absolutely zero patience left for his cosplayer delusions. "Su Mu, move! We need to leave right now and find Erik to bail Thor out, or he's going to end up in a black site!"

But Su Mu didn't budge. His smile didn't waver.

As Jane's frustration boiled over, she suddenly noticed something terrifying.

At some completely imperceptible moment, the man standing in front of her had become completely unrecognizable!

The smile on his face was structurally exactly the same. Yet, it had completely shifted from lazy and playful to something so profoundly cold, arrogant, and diabolical that it sent a violent, freezing shudder straight into her bones.

The unserious Su Mu was gone.

The White Demon looked down at her, his crystalline blue eyes radiating absolute, transcendental terror.

"I told you," he whispered, his voice echoing with the weight of a god. "You still have me."
