The first thing they noticed wasn't the body. It was the silence. The restroom usually loud with chatter, running water and careless laughter felt wrong.
Too still, too quiet. Then the door creaked open and everything shattered. A scream tore through the hallway. Sharp, sudden and unforgettable.
Two girls from grade 12 stumbled back, their faces drained of color, their bodies frozen between running and collapsing.
"W.... what is that....? The second girl stepped forward, confusion flickering across her face. Then she saw it. "Jesus..." Mira lay on the cold tiles, lifeless.
Her body was unnaturally still, as if the world has paused around. Her fingers were slightly curled, like she had tried to hold unto something or someone but failed.
No one heard her struggle. No one came to save her or maybe someone did and chose not to .
Within minutes, the school descended into chaos. Footsteps thundered across the halls, voice overlapped, fear spread like wild fire.
Students gathered. Teachers shouted. Phones came out recording. Watching but no one dared to step too close.
" Who did this...?
"Is this some kind of joke...."
" Am i next? " The questions hung in the air heavy and unanswered.
The police arrived too late. Mira's body was lifted carefully, placed onto a stretcher and covered.
Just like that, she was gone. Silent waiting for justice. A justice that might never come. Because something had already changed not just in her. But in someone else.
Among the crowd, a girl stood still, unnoticed. Her expression gave nothing away, but inside, something twisted. Slow, sharp and alive.
A quiet breath slipped past her lips. " Maybe...I went too far." A pause then softer almost thoughtful "or maybe..... Her gaze lingered on the stretchers as it disappears from the view.... " This is just the beginning."
Around her, the fear grew louder but no one noticed her. No one looked twice. Because the most dangerous monsters.... Don't look like monsters.
