Chapter 2 - CHAPTER ONE: A Dangerous beginning

It was supposed to be a normal school day at Young Scholars Academy.....it wasn't.

Two grade 12 students walked towards the restroom, lost in their conversation, unaware of what awaited them.

"I attended my boyfriend's party last night" Kate said casually.

Bella, a few steps ahead turned slightly. "Did your parents allow you? You said they're strict".

" I told them it was a night vigil, since i usually attend those, they believed me".

" They believed you that easily? Bella scoffed lightly. "If it were my parents, my mom would personally drive me there. And if she finds out I lied, I'd be grounded for life".

Bella pushed the restroom open. A storage unpleasant smell hit her nose but she said nothing.

As she stepped inside, her eyes fell on something near the corner of the sink. Curious she moved closer. Then she froze.

It was the lifeless body of her classmate. Bella staggered backwards, her hands trembling her voice trapped in her throat. Until a scream tore out of her.

Kate rushed in immediately. "Bella what..." She stopped dead. "Jesus" she screamed. "What the hell....is that Mira?.

For a moment, Kate wanted to run. But instead, she forced herself forward, fear gripping every step.

With shaking hands and goosebumps crawling over her skin, she reached out and touched Mira's body.

Cold.

She checked for a pulse.

Nothing.

Kate stepped back, panic rising in her chest. "She's... not breathing ". Before she could finish, Bella had already run to the classroom.

"There's a body in the restroom!" She shouted. Student rushed out in panic. Whispers filled the air. Someone alerted the teachers.

Within minutes the staff and the principal arrived at the scene.

"Who did this?"

"Almighty Mira is calm"

"Maybe she collapsed, there's no blood....."

The murmurs grew louder.

Then Mira's parents arrived.

Her mother feel to her knees, cradling her daughter's head.

"Mira... please don't do this to me" she cried. "Your mother is here, please my princess wake up".

But Mira remained still.

The police arrived with an ambulance. They carried her body away, covering it as they tried to restore a peaceful environment.

One officer addressed the principal and Mira's parents.

"An autopsy will be conducted. Once the results are out, investigation and interrogation will begin". They exchanged handshake before leaving.

Mira's parents drove home in grief and the once lively school feel into an uneasy silence.

At a quiet corner of the school stood Angel.

Watching.

Expressionless.

But inside, guilt twisted violently.

"Maybe I went too far....." She whispered. "Or maybe..... this is just the beginning ".

Tears welled up in her eyes, she needed somewhere to breakdown.

She walked towards the staircase, one place without CCTV cameras. Angel sat on the floor and broke into tears.

"How could I do something so terrible....? She sobbed.

"I know..." The voice interrupted. Halima stepped forward from the shadows.

"Do you really blame yourself for this?" She asked calmly.

Angel nodded weakling "yes...I do. I shouldn't let my emotions control me".

Halima gently lifted her chin, forcing her to look up.

"Don't forget what she did to you" Halima said softly. "The humiliation, the bullying, the position she took from you, all because she thinks she's untouchable ".

Something changed in Angel's eyes.

The fear faded.

Replaced by something darker.

The memories flashed through her mind like arrows piercing her heart.

Halima noticed and smiled faintly.

She helped Angel to her feet and pulled her into a tight hug.

"Remember" she whispered, "this is just payback.... and still have another target."

Angel smiled.

They walked back towards the classroom.

Unaware that someone had been watching.

Someone who knew the truth.

But choose to keep silent for now.

Maybe to gather evidence or

To blackmail her.
