Chapter 1 - the Minister

That day, she made a deal with the devil to escape the hell she was living in.

Natasha carefully listened to her surroundings while hiding behind a tree. She looked around to make sure no one was nearby.

She saw a woman slowly entering her house with bags in her hands, not far from where she was. She waited for the woman to go inside, then sneaked into the house of the man she had been sent to kill.

She hid and waited for him to return. She heard a car, then the door. Other than movement around the house, she heard nothing else, which meant he was alone.

"Hello? It took you long enough to answer. I took the card. I'll bring it to you tomorrow." The Minister called someone and mentioned the card she had been sent for.

"No one will realize until morning, so I have a little time. Just in case, if something happens to me — Blue River, number 52." The Minister was sure no one had discovered him.

He slowly lowered the phone and ended the call. He didn't turn on the lights, so everything behind him was in complete darkness. Then Natasha slowly appeared behind him.

He didn't notice her until he felt a hand wrap around his neck. His heart almost stopped for a second and he let out a frightened scream.

With one hand, she held him tightly by the throat, and with the other, holding a knife, she pressed it against his neck.

"Good evening, Minister." She spoke in a flat tone that sent chills down his spine. They were about the same height, so she had no trouble holding him.

"Who are you?" he asked in a trembling voice, standing still.

"Where is the card?" she asked quietly, pressing the knife deeper against his neck.

"I'll give it to you, just don't kill me!" The Minister struggled for air and began to shake.

He looked at the window in front of him to see her reflection. He met her cold eyes and knew he wouldn't get out of this, but he had to try.

"It's in my bag."

She slowly stepped back to check. "If you move, I'll damage more than just your pride."

As she stepped back, she kept her eyes on him. She grabbed the bag but continued watching him while opening it.

The Minister heard her searching through the bag but could feel her eyes on him, so he didn't dare move.

Out of the corner of his eye, he noticed kitchen utensils on the table. He heard her going through the bag faster and assumed she was slightly distracted. Slowly, he tried to move closer to the utensils.

Natasha finally felt a small box and opened it. When she saw the card, she looked back at the Minister and noticed he was trying to move.

She quietly stepped toward him and stabbed the knife into his neck before he could grab anything. Blood spurted out and splashed across her face and the kitchen walls.

She exhaled in disgust when she felt the warm liquid on her skin. As he slowly fell, letting out horrible choking sounds, she pulled her knife out.

She wiped her face with the sleeve of her jacket and took out her phone.

"Mr. President, I have the card." She informed Mr. Walker that she had completed the task.

"He was talking to someone. Do you want me to bring the phone as well?" She didn't show him any particular respect. She simply carried out her orders.

"Excellent. Thank you." The President replied briefly, and she assumed he couldn't talk about it now.

She took the phone anyway and left.

"Take this to the President, but first drive me to the cabin." she told the man the President had sent with her as she got into the car.

She didn't know what was on the card or why she had killed the Minister. She didn't want to know.

She wiped her knife clean in the car while they drove toward the cabin where her associates, the dark guardians, were staying.

"Good job." he said when they arrived, handing her the money.

"Send it to my mother." She didn't need the money. They had everything they needed there.

She stepped out of the car and lit a cigarette while walking toward the cabin. She saw them sitting around the fire and drinking.

"Finally." Ash and Azra were happy when they saw her.

"Hi." she said as she slowly approached, and their excitement brought a faint smile to her face.

She looked around. Leonardo was drinking and watching her with his usual annoyed expression. She could tell he was bored.

There were a few more people Levi had brought, but she didn't know them. Probably because they were a few years older.

She didn't get too close since she wasn't sure if there was still blood on her. Levi noticed something was off and watched her suspiciously.

"Do you want me to bring you something?" Ash asked, lifting himself slightly from the grass.

"I'll go." she replied. She needed to use the bathroom anyway.

As she climbed the stairs, she finished her cigarette and tossed it away. She went to the fridge first and grabbed an energy drink. She opened it and took a sip.

"Ah." She let out a satisfied sound when she tasted her favorite flavor.

She left the can on the table and headed toward the bathroom. The cabin door slammed so hard that she had to stop.

She rolled her eyes when she saw Levi standing in front of her, looking angry. Every time she saw him, she felt like punching him. He simply got on her nerves.

He walked up to her and pushed her to the side, into the bathroom.

"What the hell?" she hissed and shoved him away.

"Look at yourself, idiot." he said while closing the door. He didn't sound surprised, just tired. He was already tired of her.

She looked at herself in the mirror and realized she would have been in trouble if the others had seen her like that. She hadn't wiped the blood off her face, only smeared it around, and her hair was stained.

"Maybe I should dye it red." she commented casually while studying her reflection, thinking she might actually look good with red hair.

Levi raised his hand slightly in disbelief, frowning. He couldn't stand her anymore.

"Don't walk out like that." he warned. He didn't want his brother Ash to get upset.

As he took off his shirt, she watched him and had to swallow.

Levi threw the shirt at her to stop her from staring.

"I don't remember you looking this handsome." she said, recalling the first and last time she had seen him without clothes a few years ago, even though she tried not to think about it.

"I don't remember you being someone who just follows orders." Levi replied, not even trying to hide his disappointment and disgust.

"Aren't you going to ask what happened?" she asked coldly as she took off her jacket. She knew he was curious and hated being left out of things.

"I'll hear about it tomorrow from my father." he said in frustration and walked out when she started taking off her shirt.

He hated that his father excluded him from his plans but included her instead.
