Chapter 1 - Hope

The beginning, the hope, the start of White Jade.

A small guild

A small tavern

A hopeless guild

Nothing, it was nothing.

Today I'm writing this to tell others and remind myself of why White Jade came to be and why I'm so desperate and clingy with it.

WhiteJade of now has changed a lot from what it used to be.

Some might find it cringey as I write this, as the current whiteJade is just a small guild that people in that same community don't even know of.

This is but a small dream of mine, a little ambition.

The day everything started. Birth of white Jade and my dream

I was scrolling through YouTube, looking up cultivation games to play. As time went on I found a strange game named Overmortal.

It had everything I wanted, more like ok with. A cultivation idle game that had beautiful artwork.

+++

I opened the app, excited about how the game would be; first came the character customization interface, then came the tutorial.

The more I played the more excited I became.

A game where I could imagine myself as a cultivator and write my own story.

It had everything a cultivation game could ask for at that time. Abode, crafting table, its own story, and a sect.

A sect

Being able to make your own sect and rule the whole game with it.

It was too intriguing for me, a person that has always wanted to own something of their own, like a guild.

Not too big to be called an ambition and not too small to never be made into existence, it was my own little pridefulness, my own selfishness.

I worked hard and reached the required BR and money to make my own sect.

It was just a game that I thought I would hop in and play a little for about 2-3 months and leave, so I wanted to lay low. Not have any attachment with anyone from the game.

So I named the guild Wanderer.

A guild that was made by a wanderer for the wanderers to wander around this cultivation world.

It had a story of its own, which will be told in a different story.

***

I looked in front of me, a burned house, flames still high above raging like a beast. It looked as if it were immortal, not letting itself die.

I looked down, a broken nameplate. And the word written on it was wanderer.

Seeing this, I closed my eyes, reminiscing about the past with the Wanderer sect. The struggle I went through, the euphoria I went through as a sect master of wanderers.

I looked deep inside the building, 100s of corpses lying there motionless.

The more I looked, the blurrier the world became.

I clenched my fist and tried to move my leg. Trying to go inside and save these people that I held dear to me, but I- I was a coward.

I was scared seeing the immortal flame.

My whole body shook the more I tried to move myself inside the burning building.

I opened my sore mouth that was burned with eyes covered with water: "My- my money… The pa- paper rights of my sect and my people."

I couldn't accept it. The money I worked so hard for, the people I had brought together, and the paper rights and badge I wasted so much money on.

SMACK—!!

I slapped my face with my own hand: "No—no, I can't die for this. I have so much more to accomplish, so many lands to conquer. What will the wacko sect think of me if I die today? The whole world will laugh at me if I die right now."

Elroi controlled himself and sat under a tree, hoping the fire would die down.

If one looked at Elroi right now, they would scream in horror and throw away all their life savings secret curios to kill this being and run as far away as possible, as the current Elroi's whole body was

burned. His whole body looked like a charcoal.

A fking monster looking ah

***

3 months passed, and the fire that seemed immortal had finally died down to a single point.

Elroi got up and went inside the building, seeing that the fire was slowly dying down.

His body was now covered with stitches and rags.

I moved my half-dead body inside the building, finally reaching inside.

I saw the burned bodies of everyone I knew in this village.

I looked at my side, more bodies. I looked at the other side, bodies again.

The whole surrounding was covered in bodies the deeper I went.

I finally stopped; in front of me was a chair.

If one looked closely at it, they would notice the amazing craftsmanship that went into making this chair; no, it was too grand to be called a chair; it was a throne.

I went close to the throne, looking at it with a half-closed eye.

I didn't sit on the throne except I looked back.

I saw a grand hall covered in ash.

My half-closed eyes were fully closed now.

"Log off."

***

" Tiche, why did I log off for so many days? Man, I lost my sect now." I lightly smacked my head: "Hmmm, what should I do now?"

The game is quite good. I feel like I can make a good story about it later in the future. Should I join someone else sect?

Nahhh, I can't do that.

Live without a sect?

Nahhh, half of the game only works if you are in a sect. I can't do anything if I'm not in one.

Hmmmm. Fk it, I should make a new one and see how it goes.

I opened the game again, working hard and finally earning the amount to make another guild.

Heh, what should I name this one?

Watcher? Darkness? Tarot club? Immortal sect?

No no I have to make it grand, more meaningful, a name that hasn't been seen before as a sect name.

So I started clicking on the randomization button; the more I clicked, the more thoughts rained down on my mind.

After some time I saw a name pop up: WhiteJade.

The name was something I had never seen before, a strange name for a sect but also grand.

I didn't know its meaning, so I searched it up.

White Jade spiritually was deeply symbolic, representing purity, tranquility, wisdom, and moral integrity.

A name befitting us.

Heh, pure wisdom and morals? I don't have a single trace of that.

Hmmm, but it's a good image for my sect.

A sect that will rule this whole land.

A name that would be revered even outside the game.

Everyone would know what whiteJade is.

A grand sect that resides in the overmortal game.

I will grow this sect so big that the whole game, the community, and even the company that made it will know of this name.

Heh, whitejade, I hope you don't disappoint me.

My only hope.
