Synopsis
Ding! [Profile blocked from viewing.] If Yujin had to choose a moment in time when his life started spiraling downhill, it would be this one. Though, that's his misconception since he refuses to take responsibility for his own actions due to his inferiority complex. None-the-less, the following events that are about to unfold are definitely not his fault. Then again, if he were gifted with an offensive power rather than a defensive one, maybe none of this would have happened? But that's just speculation on his part. Who could blame him for attempting to steal an S-ranked item that coincides with his power? He surely wouldn't, then again he's heavily biased. Not that it should matter since he failed to get his hands on it, thanks to a certain anonymous someone. But apparently it does. If he knew that it would piss off their King, he wouldn't have. He very much likes the fact that his head is attached to his body and would like to keep it that way. However, after the King demands Yujin to uncover where this S-ranked item is, he discovers there's a lot more sinister plots happening behind it. Life should be as simple as espers destroying monsters and saving the world. Yet life also happens to bite Yujin in the ass more times than he can count, so maybe he isn't all that trustworthy. *** “Shouldn’t you be looking for a guide?” The question slips out before Yujin can think better of it, and gestures at his own eyes as an example. The guy tilts his head but doesn't answer. Instead he avoids the question all together, “You worried I'll go crazy here?” Yujin squints his eyes, “Uh, duh.” What kind of a dumb question is that? “I'm kind of on a stealth mission,” he waves a hand and gestures to the room, “And if an esper goes on a rampage and draws attention, it wouldn't exactly be stealthy anymore.” “Not exactly stealthy if I caught you, though. Right?” He drops his arms to his sides and pushes off of the threshold to step further inside of the room. Well, he's annoying. [50 power stones = 2 bonus chapters]

Chapter 1 - Daggers of Chaos

A dark sky without a moon is the night born for chaos.

Yujin thinks of the cliche quote at an ironic time as he crouches along a thick branch at the top of a tree. The brush on the outskirts of a wild park is a good place to hide, with a good view of his target and multiple routes that allow him to easily escape in case he gets caught too soon.

Which, if he does this correctly, won't happen.

He pulls his balaclava mask up to the bridge of his nose and tilts his head back to stare up at the moonless sky. Where even the stars hide behind the artificial light that emits from the inner of Hark City. Just a dark abyss that goes on forever.

Maybe everything just has good timing?

Do not count on coincidences, his mother, Yuri, would say on a night like this. A shiver goes down his spine and he wills the she-devil to get out of his head. Even now she still manages to weasel her way into his thoughts, it seems to be her special talent.

There's a charge in the air, an energy and restlessness that has his heart racing in his chest. Even the bird perched in the tree across from him seems on edge.

The thin fabric of his matching body suit makes it easy for him to breathe and for his lithe figure to move around without restrictions. Thick straps of leather bound around over the stretchy fabric of his pants, clinging to his upper thighs.

Sheathed daggers hang from both legs for quick access. His purple eyes pop out against the dark fabric of his clothing. Yet in the space of the shadows that allows him to blend in, he's invisible to the naked eye.

The system screen appears before him and he sighs in disappointment. He gazes up at the blue glowing shield that surrounds the property of his next theft heist location.

Yujin assumed that the OEP - Official Esper Precinct - would have used at least an S-rank defense shield. Especially since the newest shipment inside is a Chaos blessed item that many espers would die to get their hands on.

Chaos - a dragon god that descended from the first unranked gate - controls darkness, shadows, and is the balance between light and darkness. Good and bad, whatever people decided to call it.

Yujin's powers come from his blessing, manifested when he turned sixteen four years ago. Anyone who happens to be blessed by Chaos would be gunning for this item if they knew about it. The only reason Yujin knows is because he overheard his father talking about it.

Versance works directly alongside the High Lord of Pyroura as his advisor. They've been friends since they both entered the academy together, as he has heard many times from his mother.

And now as adults, they seem to still be attached by the hip.

If Yujin's mother ever caught him doing this she'd probably have a fit. His father would give him that look of disappointment that he often gives him when he does things like this. His brother, Verce, would comfort him afterwards, offer him some sort of sweet treat, and then give Yujin his advice. Whether he wants it or not.

But if he gets away with it, he'll have an S-ranked Chaos blessed item! The better option is obvious.

Yujin is disappointed in the OEP to say the least. Precinct espers are the best of the best, or so they claim, so what's with the lame barrier? Maybe it's a good thing that he's going to steal it, maybe the High Lord will learn to take things such as this more seriously.

The GOIM - or Government Official Item Museum - is a facility built in the center of Hark City that seals away highly dangerous and rare system items. It's a tightly run organization, keeping track of any and all potential threats or world-saving objects.

Yujin tugs the hood of his cloak further down his face before stepping off of the tree branch. He tucks and rolls along the cut grass and pushes to stand on his feet. Sprinting across the street where the park cuts off and lines of buildings take over, he slips into a narrow alley.

His body distorts into the darkness and through the shadows, easily slipping past the B-level Honeycomb Barrier without setting off any alarms. He goes undetected by the guards patrolling the perimeter, their silver badges glistening in the dim light outside.

He shakes off the familiar cold feeling of dread that creeps up his spine and slips into the facility through the shadows of hidden corners. Yujin passes the wooden reception desk at the front and down the winding staircase to the floors below ground level. Where they keep the most hostile of items locked away.

He closes his purple eyes and takes a deep breath as he reaches out to sense the power auras around him. A dark energy, one pulsing with the familiar darkness of his own, catches his attention.

Found you. He smiles and slips down the halls. He pauses when he catches sight of the reason he's here.

[ S++ Daggers of Chaos (Blessed by the Dragon God Chaos)]

The two daggers sit up on a white marble pillar, protected by a dome of glass. The daggers are identical yet opposite. While the hilt and cross guards match, the blades are different. One is made with pale and shiny metal while the other is made from some kind of dark obsidian. At the center of their hilts are round opal stones. Dark shadows seem to emit from them, an aura that sends delicious shivers down his spine.
