Air: When I Opened My Eyes, I Was Villager A
Synopsis
Kim Hyun-seo, who spent half his life in a hospital and passed away at the age of 20 in the winter after a long battle with illness.
Perhaps it was because his desire to live a "thin and long"—quiet, stable, and ordinary—life was so strong until the very moment of his death? When he opened his eyes, he had possessed a character presumed to be merely "Extra Villager A" inside the popular romance fantasy novel, The Forest Wizard.
If that was the case, he should have just lived a quiet, ordinary life alongside Villagers B, C, and D like a proper extra. But for some reason, he gets picked up by Weiss Karzen, the sub-male lead of The Forest Wizard, and ends up receiving his devoted protection...
[Lord Karzen, why are you being this good to me?]
Is his excessive kindness simply noblesse oblige purely bestowed as a noble? Or does he have another purpose?
The moment he thought of a wish, another shooting star fell. Ibi quickly made a wish.
‘Please let me safely find a job in this world.’
As soon as he made the wish, another meteor fell.
‘Please let me make a decent amount of money so I can repay Karzen's kindness.’
This time, two meteors fell at once, but for some reason, Ibi couldn't make a wish. There was a wish he wanted to make, but his thoughts weren't fully organized yet. Ibi slowly turned his head to look up at Karzen. At some point, he had also started looking at the sky while walking. The moment Karzen felt the gaze, lowered his head slightly, and met his eyes, Ibi defined his wish.
‘Even after I leave Karzen's mansion because I no longer have a reason to stay here, if it is possible... Gasp!’
"Ibi!"
Karzen reflexively caught Ibi by the waist just as his legs gave out and he nearly collapsed. Fortunately, he didn't fall, but Ibi’s eyes went wide as he found himself looking up at Karzen in a half-reclined pose. Behind the beautiful Karzen, a countless shower of shooting stars was pouring down. As Ibi froze in surprise, Karzen’s hair, flowing in the wind, tickled Ibi's cheek.
"Ibi, are you okay?"
At the worried question, Ibi stared blankly at Karzen before finally coming to his senses and nodding. Helped up to stand facing him, Ibi looked up and, as if possessed, carefully brushed back Karzen's messy hair. Karzen didn't look surprised by Ibi's touch; he simply bowed his waist slightly and smiled, saying he was glad Ibi was okay. Brushing the hair over his shoulder, Ibi looked into Karzen's eyes rather than the pouring meteor shower and finished his wish.
‘...If possible, I want to become friends with Karzen.’
