Chapter 1 - The Villain’s System Awakens

Zhou Tianxu's eyes snapped open. A young man in ancient robes grinned at him, and something in that gaze made his blood run cold. The expression was disturbingly calm — he was about to die, and he could feel it.

The last thing he remembered was cursing fate, Heaven, and the universe itself: he'd lost his job, his girlfriend had left, and the bank had taken his house.

Everything he had built seemed to crumble at once.

Did he die? Was this Heaven?

Just as he was trying to scan the environment, the young man in front him pulled out a sword and thrust it straight into Zhou Tianxu's chest.

"Zhou Tianxu… this is your ending. You are a fool if you think Frostmoon Sacred Sect will allow you to get your hands on that artifact"

Blood gushed from his mouth, and Zhou Tianxu couldn't even form a word as his life slipped through his fingers.

He barely had time to process it — and now he was dead.

What the hell is the meaning of this?

Is Heaven toying with him again?

"Fuck Heaven, Fuck Fate"

He cursed internally as his body gave way.

He hadn't even realized he was teetering on the edge of a cliff.

[Heaven-Swallowing Villain System Activated]

[New Host Detected: Zhou Tianxu, Age 23]

[Fated Points: 0]

Zhou Tianxu's body slammed into the ground with a deafening crack; the sound of shattering bones echoed through the valley.

He didn't know whether to laugh or cry — laugh at his misfortune, or cry because, honestly, falling off a cliff hurt far more than the sword through his chest.

He felt his consciousness slipping away when he heard again…

[Host life force slipping away, initiating body repair]

Wait so he was hallucinating during the fall, something was literally talking in head. A robotic voice like those free text to speech things that always annoyed him.

He forced his eyes open and there was something glowing in his eyes, something like… A system.

Zhou Tianxu had watched too many dramas and read too many novels to know what he was seeing. This was definitely a system.

[BODY REPAIR INITIATED… SCANNING DAMAGE…]

[SCANNING COMPLETE: HOST HAS 20 BROKEN BONES, SHATTERED MERIDIANS AND NO CULTIVATION.]

[BEWARE HOST: REPAIR WILL TAKE 24 HOURS]

"Where am I?" Zhao Tianxu asked weakly.

[HOST HAS ENTERED THE WORLD OF "THE RISE OF THE REBORN SWORD GOD" AS A VILLAIN CANNON FODDER]

"Wait.. what the fuck?"

Before he could grasp everything he felt his eyes closing. The pain shot through his whole body.

This was even more painful than the time he fell. He could feel his bones reattaching in a very painful way.

He couldn't remember how long it lasted. If the system was right, he had endured a full day of this agony.

When his eyes opened again, he immediately felt it — his body was… different.

He felt like an entirely new person; his body was lighter, more fluid.

More unsettling, his mind brimmed with memories that weren't his own.

He sat up slowly, adjusting his body into a meditating position. It was time to fully understand his situation. He really wanted to know why the hell that person had killed the original owner of the body.

"System?"

[Yes Host, Heaven-Swallowing Villain System at your service]

"What is this world?"

[Host you have entered the world of the novel "Rise of the Reborn Sword God" and you are the villain character Zhou Tianxu]

"Yes, I get it — I'm cannon fodder. Now tell me something useful. How do I survive being killed again? Because, seriously, dying hurts," Zhou Tianxu muttered with a hint of annoyance.

[The host can use the system to change his own fate by stealing the "Fated Points" of the story's "Chosen Ones". Note: The host cannot kill the Chosen Ones unless they have drained their FP]

"Alright… how exactly do these Fated Points help me?" he asked, a spark of excitement creeping into his voice.

[Host can use FP to level up his cultivation, get ancient weapons and artifacts]

"Intresting.. How do I drain their FP without killing them?"

[The host can humiliate the Chosen One by using different methods. The more their minds shatter, the more FP gets drained. 100 FP can upgrade cultivation level to peak of Body Tempering Realm, 300 FP upgrades to Qi Condensation Realm, 500 FP levels up to Foundation Establishment Realm, 1000 FP levels up to Core Formation Realm (Golden Core), 1500 FP levels up to Nascent Soul Realm, 2000 FP levels up to Spirit Severing Realm 2500 levels up to Void Refinement Realm, 3000 FP levels up to Dao Integration Realm, 5000 FP levels up to Heavenly Ascension Realm and 10 000 FP levels up to Immortal Lord Realm]

"A lifetime just to reach Immortal Lord? How many FP do I even have right now?"

[Host currently has zero FP and is at the beginner level of Body Tempering Realm]

"How can I… a villain have such low cultivation? This is a very bad start. How is this fair to me?"

[Host lost his cultivation during a fight with first Chosen One, Han Yuming]

"Damn it. As soon as I'm strong enough, Han Yuming will be my first target," Tianxu muttered under his breath.

[Beware challenging a Chosen one with a higher cultivation level can lead to backlash]

"Urgh not fair at all" Tianxu muttered under his breath.

[Congratulations, Host: Beginner Gift Pack Awarded — Nine-Cloud Ascension Pill]

"Now that's more like it!" he grinned, excitement shining in his eyes as the pill materialized in his hand.

"Very well. Now I have to head home to see the power of this pill"

He pushed himself upright and began walking slowly. At his current cultivation, teleporting or flying was impossible — another reminder of just how low he had fallen.
